Did you look in the menus and see if there is an item that, when you move to it, announces p as the short cut?  Or it could be a menu itself, such as the file menu in menu programs or the edit menu as examples.

seen Alt + P in either a Windows10 book I was reading or one of

The software is named gd-77s as it is specifically for a two-way
radio with that specific model number.  It is a Windows program
that allows one to load the radio with frequency power-level and
other important data so that the radio works properly on whatever

configuration.  Writing involves pouring out the settings you
have configured from your computer to the radio.

When nvda is set to beep at various pitches depending on
the vertical position of the focus, the progress graphic becomes
audible as a series of ascending beeps.  It reminds me of a large
jug being filled or what somebody's cat might sound like walking
on a musical keyboard.

That turns out to be useful because the usb interface is
flaky and one has to keep connecting and disconnecting it before
the Read and Write operations work.  When they fail, you don't
get any kind of message but instead get dumped back to the main
program screen.

I come from the unix command-line world after 25 years of
writing C, perl and shell scripts plus almost 5 years of
retirement so Windows is a new world but I also have been using a
Mac for ten or so years making the GUI a little more familiar but
I still need to learn a lot.

Anyway, many thanks and I have a nvda question I'll save
for another message as this software is a perfect nvda training
tool as it makes constant use of NVDA + numpad-/ to change focus.

I got out of the software I was running and simply opened
a new window and alt + p did nothing at all except that nvda
echoed the key strokes.

nvda and Windows10 both have a rich set of keyboard
commands and I could have sworn that alt + p looked familiar.

go to page edge://settings/languages. Add Czech language, then you can set Czech as a preferred language to display Edge in it. Cannot say exactly how all elements are named, I have Edge in Czech language.

It looks as though you have to do a search for it  then the results will come up.


so when the new edge is open press the alt key go down to settings then press the enter key when the next page comes up with the setting in the search box type languages it will then search for those results and give you about 4 of them Under one of them i could do my preferred languages etc or have it set to translate etc for me to another language.

It may not be a good idea to save things in Reader Mode even if you can.  Reader Mode does a good job of presenting something like an article while stripping out extraneous material but, unless you have read the text you will be saving first, you don't definitely know that it has done everything correctly.  If you haven't read everything first and want to take a chance, then you may want to save the material.  It probably will be alright but I don't trust such processes, unsupervised, to always produce the results I want and I don't want to save material processed in that way without having read it first.
 
I tested saving a page as Web Page, HTML only.  I didn't test other options; This was with an old version of Firefox.  The page didn't save properly.  I don't know what would have happened with other options. 
 
Regardless of what you can or can't save in Reader View, I would think you could save text in reader view by selecting all, control a, copy to the clipboard, paste it into Notepad, and saving it.  I didn't test that.

Chrome should work, as should Firefox, but you want a
3rd-party, which is probably smart, give 1password a try.

You can do that. But what if your friends ask you how do you know about it when you are still using xp? It would better help you if you did upgrade to windows ten.

Try just read or mercury reader.  Just reader when you right click on page and save as it allows single html which is read by nvda.
