And for those who are currently using NVDA 2019.2, you mentioned about ignoring them for now, but when We install install the updated NVDA, will the updates be available still from within AddOn updater? And also isn’t AddOn Updater going to become a core NVDA feature, so as no longer needing the AddOn separtely?

Opera and NVDA
Dear list members,
I am testing the Opera browser with NVDA, and I am experiencing the following problem. when I go to the address bar and go to the previous or next character with the arrows to the left and right, the cursor seems to be in a different place than NVDA reports. For example, if I press backspace to remove a character, another character is removed than I had expected. Is there anything I can do to resolve this? Kind regards, Artin Dekker |

Re-initializing Braille
Maria S
Hi everyone. I am using a Q-Braille display, which allows you to have multiple devices connected and in use at the same time. Whenever I switch to a different device and come back to my laptop, the only way I can get Braille back is to restart NVDA. I was wondering if there's a command to re initialize the Braille driver so I don't have to keep restarting.
Thanks, Maria |

Odd question relating to a new physical keyboard
Jacob Kruger
As a form of christmas present to myself, I bought a new mechanical, sort of gaming focused keyboard, and, this is since I have largish hands, and, pretty much spend all day, every day on my PC and/or laptop for both work and after-hours activities.
These mechanical, gaming focused keyboards offer slightly better spacing between keys, and, are meant to be more robust, last longer, etc., and, my primary keyboard on my desktop PC is already one of these. However, this new one has one slight oddity, and, just wondering if anyone has ideas about what could be causing this, and, the reason am posting this here is that it specifically relates to one NVDA keystroke combination - haven't been able to replicate similar things in any other way. This is since, only on this new keyboard, but, occurring on multiple PC's, I can cycle through NVDA synth settings using numpad insert + right-ctrl + left and right arrows, and I can also increase things like speech rate on-the-go, using numpad insert key + right-ctrl + up arrow, but, if I try to use numpad insert key + right-ctrl + down arrow, it does nothing, but, if I instead use caps lock + right-ctrl + down arrow, it works fine. Using the left-ctrl key instead with those keys does work fine. So, it's almost like the numpad insert key, being used as the NVDA key, along with, specifically the right-ctrl key and the down arrow key are interfering with each other somehow. In other words, if I switch on input help, it also seems to not have noticed a keystroke at all, but, only with regards to this keystroke? This right-ctrl key also works fine in conjunction with other keys, performing actions like cut, copy, paste, etc., but anyway. And, yes, this keyboard is a form of generic brand, so, it could very likely just be a hardware issue, but, still wondering if this rings any bells for anyone? Hi, NVDA 2019.3 is available in beta form at the moment. Unlike other releases, you need to make sure add-ons are ready for 2019.3 before trying out the beta release. Cheers, Joseph

Hello NVDA users,
For the next few days, I’ll be releasing first 2020 updates for various add-ons (for some, the very last version from me). For most add-ons they will require NVDA 2019.3 or later – if you are using 2019.2.1 or earlier, you can ignore these releases for now except Add-on Updater.
As first part of release wave, Add-on Updater 20.01 is now available. This is a mandatory update (compatible with NVDA 2019.2 and later) as it is designed to prepare the community for NVDA 2019.3. After installing 20.01, you’ll see a message about NVDA 2019.3 and add-ons. If you wish to see which add-ons are compatible (majority are), select “compatibility” button offered.
Note: Add-on Updater 20.01.x is the last series to be compatible with NVDA 2019.2. Shortly after NVDA 2019.3 is released, another update to Add-on Updater will show up, this time compatible with 2019.3 and later only. Cheers, Joseph

Joseph Lee's January 2020 add-on updates wave 3: goodbye Easy Table Navigator, Golden Cursor, ObjPad, SystrayList, Virtual Review
#addonrelease
Hello all,
The next wave of January 2020 add-on releases consists of letting go of add-ons I’m no longer maintaining. These include Easy Table Navigator, Golden Cursor, ObjPad, SystrayList, and Virtual Review. These five add-ons (plus Screen Curtain) were maintained on behalf of the community for a while, and in order to reduce my workload, I’m letting go of these. For some, another maintainer will be maintaining them, while others are looking for new homes.
Update details (updates will show up in a few hours from now):
Note that all of these add-ons now require NVDA 2019.3 or later (if you are using NVDA 2019.2.1 or earlier, you can ignore these updates for now). Cheers, Joseph |

Hello all,
In continuing with January 2020 add-on updates for Joseph Lee’s add-ons, three add-ons are seeing updates today:
Note that all three add-on updates require NVDA 2019.3 beta or later (if you are using NVDA 2019.2.1 or earlier, you can ignore this add-on for now). Cheers, Joseph |

Yeah, sorry. It was my mistake. But in fact Ctrl + Right Alt + E only
works from within Microsoft Word. At least on my PC it does not from within Excel (I have version 2010), as well as Notepad, Thunderbird, and probably most of the text editors. CtrlRight+Alt+E seems to be a Word/specific hotkey, while Right Alt + numpad is a Windows functionality and therefore complies with in application with text input. (By the way, I use also newest Win 10.) On 03/01/2020 20:07, Ralf Kefferpuetz wrote: Yes, I agree, but Charles gave the correct hint. For those who do not have a numeric keypad on their keyboards I'd suggest using the Windows built-in program Character Map. You can use the search for field to search for a symbol by name. Searching for Euro sign brings up only two characters, the Euro currency sign (which is not the Euro sign) and the Euro sign, which is named exactly that. I haven't figured out whether there is a way to get the status line at the bottom to read the actual ALT plus digits key sequence one can use, but it does display. Someone else may know that. You can, however, select the character and copy it for pasting out of character map. I often find myself doing just this for the degree symbol, as I never seem to recall the ALT plus digits shortcut for it and that character is not on my keyboard. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Most of the change we think we see in life is due to truths being in and out of favor. ~ Robert Frost, The Black Cottage (1914)
