Re: the opera browser
Gene
You are using shift f10. That brings up the
context menu and there is a command to copy link location in the Firefox context
menu. I just tried shift f9 and it toggles developer tools on and off in
Firefox.
You are discussing the same thing as someone else,
how to bring up the context menu. I described a method that may work
but we'll see

Announcement of Tracked Changes in Word
Hi all,
I don't often use tracked changes in Word but needed to on a placement with a publisher back in May and I did again recently. I don't have any trouble making edits with tracked changes on, but is there any way to get NVDA to announce ‘Tracked Changes On’ when the shortcut keystroke Press control+shift+e is pressed to turn them on or off, the way that ‘Bold on’ / ‘bold off’, ‘italic on’ and ‘italic off’ are activated with control+b and control+i? It'd be handy to know whether tracked changes were on before typing, especialy if you start editing a docuemnt in the morning, then break for lunch and resume editing ... yes, you can type something but, if tracked changes are indeed already on and you stop to check whether the word you just typed has been registered as a change, then the next thing you type counts as a second tracked change rather than part of the first one. Thanks :) Giles

Recommendations for text editors that are both Python and NVDA friendly are just fine on the main group, as is discussion of any NVDA setting(s) to make the two things "play well together."
Any deep dives into using a specific editor with NVDA, which will focus on that text editor rather than NVDA, should be taken to the Chat Subgroup. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 The color of truth is grey. ~ André Gide

Re: NVDA and google chrome
Don,
What search engine are you using? I have noticed recently that my personal favorite, DuckDuckGo, has revised the format of its search results in a way that makes even selecting something with the mouse far more difficult/frustrating. It's up to those coding the search engines how they choose to present the results, and something might have been tweaked. I can't say this for certain, though. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 The color of truth is grey. ~ André Gide

Re: the opera browser
Hello All,
It's time for this topic to come to a close. I've used Opera, and like it, but it's just another among many Chromium-based web browsers, and since NVDA and other screen readers have long ago become proficient at working with Chromium then any browser based upon same tends to be completely or very nearly completely (if they've done a few odd bits) accessible. But the topic strayed far away from anything that can be even vaguely considered as NVDA-centric quite a while ago. Please take this to the Chat Subgroup if anyone wishes to extend the conversation. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 The color of truth is grey. ~ André Gide

Running Win 10 1903 and latest vversions of Google Chrome and NVDA.
My normal way of using Google Chrome is to enter my search data and hit enter. Then I use the h key to move by header to each of the results. Noticing today that when I now do this NVDA says title before each search result when I hit the h key. Never noticed this before. Did I somehow change this to cause NVDA to say title?

Pascal. I'm not sure if this is what you want to do, but arrow down to the link you want to copy, press shift+DownArrow to select it, then press the context menu key and arrow down to copy link address and press enter. the link should now be copied to your clipboard. I hope it helps. Cheers! On 11/9/2019 6:14 AM, coccinelle@... wrote:

Re: the opera browser
Gene
Here are two possible ways to bring up the context
menu.
Try unloading and running NVDA. Now and then,
a screen-reader isn't running properly and keeps a command from
functioning. Rarely, I've had the context menu not open and unloading and
running the screen-reader solved the problem. Regarding how to bring up the context menu, if the
standard keyboards methods don't do so, try the simulated mouse. Route the
mouse to where you are with the command numpad insert numpad slash. Hold
numpad insert and press slash. Then, after releasing both keys, move one
key to the right of the numpad slash and press it. That is the numpad star
and it is the right mouse click key. See if the context menu comes
up.

The question is evidently being asked because the
usual command doesn't bring up a context menu, at least in that
installation. The question also says in Opera, which implies that the
context menus are being used in other programs.

Hi. If you have a keyboard with a specialized context menu key, then it
