Re: Downloading from YouTube
I agree, I have been using a lot of stuff. I even brought the applian stuff to use and while I did use it at one point, I now use pontes media downloader. It uses youtube dl, and ffmpeg and can download both webm and mp4 streams and convert to just about everything including, apple, ios, mp4 audio, mp3 and flac and maybe a few more formats to. Its a lot more stable. I used to use youtube dlg for a while, but the redesigned 0.4 and up are completely inaccessible and its version of youtube dl is just not coping with things. Pontes media downloader is oracle java based and it just does. It doesn't have the progress bars and does use a lot of cpu when working but java notifies start and finnish as well as sending windows notifications. The system pulls youtube fast and has handled playlists. You do have to kill nvda when installing it but its good for what it is and for a free java based app is really good for its interface.

Hey Folks,
I've corrected the spelling in the topic title to make it easier for future searchers of the archive. I would appreciate it if any follow-ups be done using this message, or another with the title "Formatting on a Braille Display" so that the new title stays as the only one. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 The color of truth is grey. ~ André Gide

Hello, I would recommend audacity. You can do multi-tracking, and the quality of the audio is very good.

Hi. Unfortunately, I can't think of any Digital Audio Work
Station that meets your needs except for Reaper which has very
basic Synthesizers as it's virtual instruments. Do you have a
synthesizer Keyboard? You can, if you do, use the sounds from
there. Reaper costs about $60 US, but yu can actually download an
evaluation copy and use it for as long as you like, with the
reminder to buy it popping up when you first use it of course. It
is accessible to a high degree if you download SWS and Osara to
enhance it's use. I must also clarify that most Daws come with
watered down virtual instruments, and most good or reasonable ones
have to be bought. Reaper also has very advanced audio editting
capabilities. Cheers! On 10/4/2019 11:34 PM, azeesh rahman

It does not. It can show the generic dots 7 and 8, but not true formatting symbols. If I am wrong, I’d love to be shown otherwise.

I do not know about this version, but I can tell you this has been happening for quite a few versions of nvda and nothing seems to be getting done about it. rather I might be better rewording a bit it might be difficult to track down. but the result is the same for a few versions now this has been happening and it has been reported on and I am sure off list to the nv-access people.

Re: audio description

Arlene I would certainly invite others with more knowledge to comment, but I am quite sure there is not a one setting way to do this so that you would have access to audio description from all resources. I could not find an answer about accessing the range of networks that offer AD. That included searching on the Audio Description Project. By the way, I will put a link to their ADP site at the bottom of this note.
I do subscribe to Netflix which one can view from a PC. The service is not free. However they do offer a great deal of their programming with description. They were the test case to get AD for such sources and their own programing is described. Additionally, any film that has been described for theatrical release wo;; have the AD Description on their platform. The same is the case for films on disk that they still offer even as Red Box is pulling many of their units.
I am also an Amazon Prime subscriber, something I did for the shipping. They too have a great deal of programming that is described and is easily accessed via PC, Hope this is of some help. The ACB ADP Project is at : Rick

What follows, and was offered this morning by Robert Doc Wright godfearer, is the correct answer to the question posed.

That being said, this topic is now locked, as it is not, and never has been, about NVDA. The question is about creating an desktop shortcut for Firefox and the answer is completely screen reader agnostic. Sticking "with NVDA" on a question that involves NVDA in no specific way does not make it on-topic for the main group. This is precisely the sort of question that belongs on the Chat Subgroup. Subscribe: chat+subscribe@nvda.groups.io Post: chat@nvda.groups.io It's also not a "compare and contrast" with Chrome, either. So offering how this is done in Chrome is doubly off-topic.

Re: creating internet shortcuts with firefox
David Griffith
There is no need to do all of this in Chrome. Simply bring up the chrome menu, then more tool and then create shortcut. This puts a shortcut on the desktop with the name of the webpage as the default title. David Griffith Sent from Mail for Windows 10

Hello, I think it’s the same as with chrome. You have to find an empty spot on your desktop, which you can do using the external numeric keypad, select the link in Firefox, and then right click the desktop to make a shortcut.
When you select the shortcut option, there are a number of fields that you can tab through. One of them will ask you for the half, and that’s where you put the link. Then the next box asks you to name the shortcut.
