Re: webpage links
As an aside, one of the things in the Group Rules, which is really a strong suggestion, not something that can be or is enforced:
"Think very carefully about the title you are going to give any topic you post. The topic is the first (and, sometimes, only) thing a member sees and that may be how they decide if they’re going to look further. Generic titles, such as “Help Me!,” are not helpful because they give no idea about what. Compare that to something like, “NVDA not reading Excel cell contents,” or, “NVDA setting for pronouncing numbers,” where the exact issue where help is needed is front and center. Even something like, “Need help with the following . . .,” lets the reader know that you are going to present a list of issues." Generic topics, and this is an example of one of those, make it very difficult for anyone searching the archive to zero in on prior topics. The fact that the word "flyer" exists in the actual messages does make this one easier to find, though. Having a truly descriptive topic, where it gives the reader a good idea of the exact nature of the issue, is useful for all involved. I can't find the previous one, either, but sometimes that's because it was in the Win10 for Screen Reader User's or JAWS groups. Over time it does get difficult to remember who said what, and where, as there's significant overlap in the membership in these three groups. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 The color of truth is grey. ~ André Gide

Re: webpage links
Jackie,
I'm not disagreeing with you in any way. But I am positive that this issue was just discussed recently, and for store flyers for a store based in Canada, and that the webpage that popped up in that conversation had nothing to do with what's popping up for this one. What I remember of what I saw then sounds much more like what Monte actually described, so I'm trying to see if there may be a connection. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 The color of truth is grey. ~ André Gide

find what he expected to find. Could be wrong, been there before, will be again, my advice might be worth precisely what he paid for it, but that's what I'm thinking. Their accessibility policy is pretty clear, w/all sorts of ways to leave feedback if stuff isn't working for folks. Wish more companies in the US were like that.

I don't know, but have you looked through whatever
menus and dialogs may apply within the Code Factory program or plugin
itself? Are you using the SAPI 5 version or the add-on, I believe Code
Factory may make both.

Re: Directing NVDA output to a particular audio device

I'm doubtful anyone has just one device. When
only my internal sound card is in use, I still have two choices, such as
Microsoft Sound Mapper and also the name of my internal sound card. I
haven't checked in Windows 7 but that's the case in XP.
Also, I saw a message yesterday commenting that if
you don't select a device for audio, that the internal soundcard will continue
to be used by NVDA if you connect another soundcard. That may be partly
true but it isn't what is supposed to happen. The internal soundcard may
continue to be used, but if you exit and restart NVDA, it will play through the
external soundcard, which is now the default device. Also, on my Windows 7 machine, at times, spontaneously, NVDA starts
using the external sound card.

Re: webpage links
Monte,
I seem to recall your having asked about his recently, but I know that the link you provided the first time, when activated, went to a plain-text-based page that looks nothing like the Extra Foods/Loblaw's site that the one you gave this morning does. There's nothing there that matches your description. Since I'm based in the US it also appears that Extra Foods is not accepting that link as a direct link to the flyer for whatever store happens to be Store ID 9054. I am asked, and it sounds like Jackie is being asked, too, to select my store. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 The color of truth is grey. ~ André Gide

Monte, at the very bottom of the page, there is a dialogue where you

need to press the space bar & go to your store. This is just a flyer. Conversely, there is a link you can use to sign in toward the top of the page if you have an account. Canada has definitively put the fear of the deity into these folks for a fact lol. I think you'll find it's quite accessible once you sign in & actually go to the store where you wish to shop.

Crash in Outlook 365
Daniel Gartmann <dgartmann@...>
Hi,
When e.g. composing a reply in Outlook 365, I often can't Tab or Shift+Tab into the body of the message that I am typing. For me, this is quite serious, since when this happens, I cannot continue typing my e-mail and have to switch to another screen reader to get the job done. Until I find the time to create an issue on GitHub, I take the liberty to post a segment from the log file and hope this makes sense. I would appreciate any further comments or questions if the issue needs further investigation: Logfile snipit after crash when tabbing in and out of the message body of a message which is a reply. Re: creating internet shortcuts with firefox
Sile
Hello, I think it’s the same as with chrome. You have to find an empty spot on your desktop, which you can do using the external numeric keypad, select the link in Firefox, and then right click the desktop to make a shortcut.

When you select the shortcut option, there are a number of fields that you can tab through. One of them will ask you for the half, and that’s where you put the link. Then the next box asks you to name the shortcut.

2019.2.1 - the treeview reading problem in eclipse persists
Alexandre Alves Toco
It is very frustrating to see the time going and this problem is not being addressed. I imagine that nvaccess has it’s criterias to priorize fixes and improovements. But, since eclipse is a work and programing learning tool, I think it should be priorized because it is important to the blind comunity to empower it self. I don`t know if it is an windows`s issue. But narrator and jaws read the treeviews correctly...

Re: Formatting on a Braille Display
Vincent Le Goff <vincent.legoff.srs@...>
Major +318 for what you've just said. I would welcome Braille accessibility to get more priority in NVDA in general, grateful for what I have, but speech just gets the best of things, first and often solely. And some of us (I for one) don't use anything but Braille (not a matter of choice). To answer the specific question, if configured well, the BrailleExtender addon can display dot-78 on bold or italic or even spelling errors (something I particularly appreciate), but it can't blink. So I usually set it to represent only one format, multiple formats would be confusing, though I suggested blinking (and different blinking speeds to indicate different formats, as some have provided). I agree that, in the end, using the "official Braille representation" for bold, italic and so on is interesting. Trouble is: it's Braille table dependent and not always accurate. sNot all Braille table offer such a syntax. As far as I know, NVDA is still not able to send formatting info to Liblouis for them to be displayed in whatever braille table is being used. Perhaps, one day, hopefully!

I’d much rather have the actual braille symbols for italics, bold, and such used, instead of a generic highlighting effect. Re: NVDA and reading texts in Grade II
Cordelia Scharpf
Thank you, Quentin, for these tips. I shall look into them as well. I was not thinking about different text-editing programs but MS Word only to be paired with either English (UEB) or German (Grade II) for reading purposes. Inputting I would rather keep at Grade I level, for I am most efficient at typing on a QWERTY keyboard. All suggestions are welcome, and I shall see what I can accomplish at my end.

And to complete my own thought there - you can create profiles which are "manually activated" and not linked to a program. You can then use NVDA's Input Gestures dialog to set keystrokes for each, so then you could create a profile for each Braille table and use keystrokes to switch between them.

Re: Touch screen support
Hi, An important thing to remember about this build: it does not support profile switching mechanism – cannot disable touch support while using specific apps and what not. Another thing to note: this try build is based on latest alpha build (Python 3 among other changes). If you prefer, you can test an equivalent functionality if you are using Enhanced Touch Gestures add-on 19.09 and later. Cheers, Joseph

Someone asked recently about using NVDA on a device with a touch screen and having the ability to NOT overwrite the default touch screen behaviour. I can't find the correspondence and can't recall where it came via. If the person who asked that (or anyone else interested) is here, there is a try build you can test out for it linked to this issue: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/9682
