Re: Bible Programs
Ralph Boersema
Dear Pascal,
Although it is a very basic program and does not have the more recent, copyrighted, versions of the Bible, it is the best I have found. However, having recently moved to a new computer and a new version of Windows 10, I now have some difficulty in navigating through a list of passages in a Find window. On the old computer, I could simply arrow my way through the list and use the tab key to move to the fields that allow me to do a new search. Now I have to use the number pad to navigate through the list of found passages and I cannot tab out of that list.
Warmly, Ralph

Hi, Bible Seeker is a very accessible program and works with NVDA. It comes with several Bible versions and the Matthew Henry Commentary. You can Google it. If you cannot find it, let me know and I will email you the file. Blessings Pascal

I suspect that if you don't return to object
Navigation mode, some things may not read as expected when you are working with
the message list. Is that the case? I always return to object
navigation mode when I am finished with screen navigation because you never know
when staying in screen navigation may cause some sort of problem or problems
when navigating, even when using the application commands such as arrow keys in
a list.

status bar in file explorer of windows ten Hi Groups, Here is a simple way to read the status line using NVDA. 1. Launch File Explorer. 2. Make sure your screen reader is in screen review mode by pressing NVDA + numpad 7. 3. Press shift + numpad 9 to read the bottom of the screen. 4. You should hear something like 781 items 1 item selected 3.52 MB. I do wonder just why the old read status line with NVDA + end key does not work and hasn't worked since Windows XP but the work around isn't that difficult. On 3/28/2019 3:22 PM, Andre Fisher wrote:

Hi, Abbie. After writing your post, tab to the "more" button, as though you're going to add a location, a feeling, etc., then tab or arrow down to the post button. it's there; it's just now you have to hit the more button after you're finished writing. It's not right beside the edit button like it used to be. Facebook is always breaking something. what's new, right? LOL! Annette On 3/28/2019 5:54 PM, Abbie Taylor

Re: Firefox's extensions' section: The Saga goes on
Gene
I saw a message saying that NVDA counts all
headingts, or something similar. I'm not sure why it thinks there are
seven items but this isn't an NVDA problem. I wanted to make that clear
because it wasn't before. I just tried with an old version of JAWS and an
old version of firefox that is compatible with the old version of JAWS.
The same incorrect information is given so this is some error with the NVDA
interface or code.

Subject: [nvda] Firefox's extensions' section: The Saga goes
on Quite a while ago I posted about an issue regarding Firefox working with NVDA, where these little guys weren't wanting to read properly the options - plugins, extensions and such - as we went through them. Well as said before by Brian - or at least one of the Brians we have here right now (LOL) - this is fortunately fixed, for what I'm infinitely thankful. Trouble is, now when navigating through the options, I'm hearing something like that: Plugins - 1 of 7 Extensions - 2 of 7 And so on until the fourth item. And here's where thing gets weird. I just can't keep arrowing down to see the other 3 options that would be there according with the NVDA items' numbering. So, all of this to ask, is anyone having this behavior using the latest Firefox version? That's all guys. Thanks.

NVDA and Google backup and sync Windows client
Mr. Wong Chi Wai, William <cwwong.pro@...>
Hi all,
I recently start trying out the new backup and sync for Windows by google. Yet, I found the following problems: lots of unlabeled buttons durring installing and within the set up window login screen unable to progress as tabbing with NVDA cannot found the text field to input id and password. I cannot go further cause I cannot even complete sign in progress with NVDA. Are there anyone else do experience the same problem? I have contact Google accessibility support and they told me that they couldn't reproduce the same issues LOL. William

Re: NVDA And Outlook Autofill
Abbie Taylor
Rui, sometimes that works, and sometimes it doesn't. If there's only one recipient in the list, then naturally, arrowing down won't work, but even when there's more than one suggestion, NVDA only reads the first few letters I type. I thought this was fixed with the last update to NVDA but apparently not.
The best way to be sure you're sending your message to the right recipient is to press Alt plus Period after opening a new message. This opens a search field where you can type the first few letters of the recipient's name and press Enter and a list of suggestions should come up that can easily be navigated with the arrow keys. To CC someone, press Alt plus C. To BCC someone, press Alt plus B. You'll get that same search box where you can more easily find your preferred recipient. Alternatively, you can use the To, CC, and BCC buttons above the To field with the same result. -- Abbie Johnson Taylor, Author http://www.abbiejohnsontaylor.com http://abbiescorner.wordpress.com abbietaylor945@...

Re: Why Windows OneCore voices Over eSpeak NG
Quentin Christensen
In 2019.1 we've reduced that pause between sentences with OneCore voices. If that was your main issue, try OneCore voices again and see what you think of the change (do let us know). Otherwise for the OP, as others have said, if you change your synth to eSpeak NG or any other, then: 1. Set your synth to eSpeak (or whatever you want) and make any other changes. 2. Press NVDA+control+c to save your settings 3. Open NVDA's general settings: NVDA+control+g 4. Tab to "Use Currently saved settings on Windows logon and other secure screens" 5. Press ENTER, then accept the warnings and notifications about copying settings etc. We made the change in NVDA 2018.2 as a lot of new users found eSpeak NG very robotic and we felt that OneCore voices were at a point where they were quite useable for new users. For users who preferred eSpeak NG, we still bundle it with NVDA and it is relatively easy to change to it (note that if you are upgrading from an earlier version of NVDA, you will keep your existing settings - the change to the default only affects new installations). Kind regards Quentin.

I guess there are no other options, NVDA counts any header columns/rows into the index.
