So you are using the web interface for email are you?
I never had much luck with that myself. The question is, is it in fact Firefox or is it because you are using the basic version of gmail?
Have you thought about using a client instead of webmail?
If your windows 7 is 64 bit I can say that the latest version of Firefox is working a lot better these days, but of course still has no sounds. You could try waterfox 64 as it is more like Firefox 52 but has more security fixes. Some web sites are increasingly saying its not supported so I think the author is going to lie about what version it is to get around the issue soon.

There is no real problem with older firefox versions but many sites seem to be elitist.

Hi,


I've faced the issue when I've handled scanned documents. In order to solve the problem, I would switch my word to the outline view, and, it would seem to satisfy me. It's happened on earlier versions of word.


One more thing:


When I find that it skips pages, I return to the page word skips from, and I'd use the right arrow to lead me to the next page, so that it won't skip.


That's what I've experienced and done as far as the skipping pages is concerned.

I am no longer losing sleep over virtual recorder but the command line hints you have given are so potentially useful that I am going to save this message. These commands date all the way back to the original Microsoft D O S. I did not know MS was still supporting them.

Dear Max & List:

It could be you created the recorder folder inside another folder.
Try finding it by doing this:

Press windows key to get the search box. Type cmd: windows will say command prompt. Press enter.
Type cd c:\
Type dir and either the folder name or the recorder program name followed by /s

Press enter.

Example:
Dir virtual-recorder/s followed by enter.

This will search your entire hard drive for the elusive folder.

If found, it gives the path to the folder.

If windows will not execute the program by just using the program name, you can run it by providing the complete path to the program.

When you run the program, see if the setup for it will let you provide a desktop ikon for it to make running it again easier.

When finished with the command prompt, either type exit with the enter key or close the window with alt plus f4.

Windows knows many command-line commands such as dir, cd, Del, rd, xcopy, type and attrib; I have used these commands to quickly save my bacon a few times!

Happy program hunting. If there is no trace of the program on your drive, just install it again!

Are you sure you ran the install version? There is a non-install version as well which I gave up on because Windows Defender kept moving it into quarantine. Under W10, I downloaded and installed the install version and have been using it without problems. The installed version definitely shows up in the list of installed programs, and creates a desktop item. You are better using the install version anyway as some of the features cannot be used in the non-install version.

Well, I will bet lots of others are having the same problem but nobody wants to be the first. OK, I will be that person. The virtual recorder install program did not create an entry in the start menu or a desktop icon or an icon in the applications bar as mentioned in the readme file. I tried to start it with the command line but that has been changed and I do not know how to access it anymore. When I had it running after the installation I made a test recording but the directory where it said it put the recording does not show up in windows explorer. Maybe I should forget it and find another program.

Yes but virtual recorder does not involve fiddling with sound card settings and is free so you can use the editor of choice.

Hi friends.

I am starting to use visualstudio and I would apreciate some hints.

  1. While navigating in solution explorer ( ctrl + alt + l and arrows up and down), it’s look like visualstudio is showing a preview of the file selected in that moment. So nvda reads to much. Is there any way to disable this preview?
  2. The code window is showing line numbers. It is anoying when I want to read a lot of code. Is there a way to disable this?
  3. I am confused with the find in files’s dialog. In result’s list, nvda reads the file’s path with the line where that word was found. So it’s dificult to use the result’s list. In vscode, the results are shown in a treeview in witch the files are the nodes and the contente of the matching lines are the leafs. Is there a way to get the same interface in visualstudio?
  4. If a search returned various results, what are the shortcut Keys to go to the previous and next result?

Related to the main topic of this thread, I don't know how big they are, but imagine so thinking that you can put a keyboard on it, I think that these displays were designed to do that. I also don't know how units are available. Additionally, note that these displays, as I've said, are quite old and only have serie and parallel connections available, although you can use an adapter.

Funny that. I recently read of a program in Spain that’s to end this year where descendants of Jews expelled 500 years ago can apply for Spanish citizenship.

I’d been playing with the idea of going through the process and scoring an EU/Spanish passport since I can document my family pretty well and speak Spanish (I work in the interpreting field). I would just need to study up on some Spanish history and government and fly to the motherland to meet with a notario to swear allegiance to the King or whatever.

Who knows, maybe I can pick up a passport and a spare Braille display in the same trip…

Yes, you are reading the price correctly: eco 40-75€, Eco 80-100€, eco plus 80-100€. Note that they are such a lower prices because that displays are old, big and heavy, if I'm not wrong some of them were designed to put a keyboard on it.

Regarding delivery, I don't know the response to any of the questions you make (note, anyway, that any possible German affiliate must have Spanish nationality). As you speak Spanish, you could try to contact CIDAT at cidat@... asking this and comment the reply here for people who could be also interested. I don't know if this Eco Braille is the one which Narrator has implemented, but Eco Braille is the name of an old braille display line produced by ONCE-CIDAT, here in Spain. The NVDA driver was added as the result of the collaboration between some members of the spanish-speaking community (including our translator) and ONCE-CIDAT.

ONCE affiliates can buy this type of displays via the second hand product market offered by CIDAT itself (75-100€+shipping), but I don't know if they sell them to non-affiliates too nor if they deliver these products to abroad. If you're interested, you could try contacting them at cidat@..., although I'm not sure if they speak English.

Hey all. Got this tweet from Microsoft today that you can use EcoBraille displays with Narrator. I hadn't heard of them before so decided to look them up, try to find prices and all. I see NVDA has drivers for them, I see Microsoft's tweet, but what I don't see at all is anything describing them or anybody selling them. Anybody know where to find out more about them?

        Here's how you do it in Outlook 2010 with NVDA.  I doubt much has changed in the versions since.

        If you're actually looking at appointments in any of the calendar views without actually opening the appointment itself, a CTRL+C when it has focus copies its Subject field (appointment name) alone.  You can then go anywhere that text can be pasted and paste it.

        If you actually open the appointment then get to the Subject edit box, hit CTRL+A to select all, then CTRL+C to copy.  That appointment name is now on the clipboard and you can go anywhere that allows text to be pasted and paste it.

I'm writing in markdown, so, all you text only email people, links will be embedded.

I've tried looking for alternative video editors but there is nothing out there that even remotely looks accessible at first glance. There's the VLM maker, it runs on the same code as VLC, but no word about it's accessibility.

There's Open Shot, but have no idea how accessible it is.

Looks like the only thing is virtual dub.
