So is mine and on windows 7 and all I want is one straight answer, you open the action centre and cannot see any messages or any kind of indication which bit of action centre it might concern.

Re: I can't select radio buttons on a webpage using NVDA
Gene
Do you look immediately down the page? The
text changes if it does, if you read immediately below the clickable
items. This is with the older version of Chrome I tested with and an older
version of NVDA. Don't do what I did at first and skip down looking for
text past the navigation links. Press enter, the correct command for
clicable items, then read down the page from there.
Also, if you have JAVA scripts disabled or are
using a script blocker, the clickable items may not work. I don't recall
if I experimented with this, but such items may require JAVA scripts to
work.

Chris Mullins
I tried the “My account and ward” item on the LDS site. It does not respond to enter or spacebar but does respond to NVDA+numpad slash followed by Numpad slash to simulate a left click. This may be due to poor site design making these items only responsive to the mouse.
Cheers Chris

I have a very similar problem on the site:
lds.org
There are 2 lists of items at the top of the page. NVDA doesn't even announce them as links or buttons as it used to do. I suspect this is due to some changes to the site but it seems it should still work since other links on the same page work just fine.
This has started over the past few releases of NVDA and has been getting worse. I just noticed how bad it has gotten today.
Any improvements in this would be very greatly appreciated.

Hello Gene, . In this case I do have clickable items enabled, it’s just that they don’t appear to change status when I try to click on them. I’m trying to use either aspace or enter, is there another trick I’m missing?

Hi

Further to Don's post, I did an experiment using Word 2007, which does not repeat but does render quite verbose details for each menu item. If I switch off both "Report Object descriptions"and "Report object short-cut keys", in the Object Presentation dialog (NVDA+Ctrl+o), then only the basic text is spoken for each menu item. Cheers Chris

RES: [nvda] BETA2 DOESN'T READ TABLES IN PDF DOCUMENTS

Hi Quentin! I am sending the file attached. It is in portuguese. I opened it in adobe and nvda didn’t recognize the tables. So I opened it with Microsoft word and the tables were there.

De: Quentin Christensen
I just tried with a file in Adobe Reader 2019.008.20081 and I can read and navigate the table in this PDF file ok.
It is quite likely the way that the PDF file was made, which you'll likely only know if you were the one who created it.
If you can email it to me, I can have a look, but short of recreating the PDF from the original source, there's probably not a lot to do with an existing file.
Regards
Quentin.

Quite likely, yes. If everything is working normally except for the ding, you can probably ignore it. If something isn't working properly, at least that ding lets us know there is likely something in the log we may be able to use to track it down.

Re: Reporting bugs

The "ding" sound means that an error has been written to the log. Often whatever you were trying to do still works as the program tries a different approach and so it doesn't impact the user at all. The error sound is in Alpha and Beta versions to alert developers that there may be something which needs their attention. Kind regards Quentin.

Re: I can't select radio buttons on a webpage using NVDA
Gene
They aren't links any longer. they are
clickable items and you need to have clickable announcement on if you want them
identified. Or you can have it off and try anything that sounds as though
it might be a clickable item to see if anything happens if you are interested in
that item. But that isn't a problem with NVDA. the page design
changed.

Reporting bugs
Quentin Christensen
Firstly thank you to everyone using the beta version of NVDA! We really appreciate the help with ensuring everything is running smoothly before the final version is released! If you aren't using the beta and would like to try it out, you can find it at https://www.nvaccess.org/post/nvda-2018-4beta2-released/ If you'd like some more info on what a beta is, I did a little write up in the In-Process blog this week: https://www.nvaccess.org/post/in-process-28th-november-2018/ And otherwise, I just wanted to share a quick note for anyone reporting issues, particularly those using the beta. If you post "Problem doing XYZ with Beta2", the implication is that XYZ worked fine in beta1 or at least with 2018.3.2. If that is indeed the case, that's great, and really helps narrow down that we've introduced a bug. If you haven't tried XYZ in any other version, could you please either state that, or, if you have the time and inclination, try it out in 2018.3.2, so you can advise that yes it used to work, or no it was an issue previously. There's absolutely nothing wrong with reporting an issue which has always been there, but which you've only just noticed, but reading some of the recent posts, it can be unclear as to whether something is definitely a newly introduced bug. Thanks for your investigation! Re upgrading Windows, if you still have 2018.3.2 and it is still snappier than the newer betas, then the update to Windows won't have changed anything. If you go into your General settings (NVDA+CONTROL+G) and set the logging level to "debug", then OK. Recreate the issue - ie navigate links on a web page, then send me a copy of the log, I can have a look. You can find the log in the %temp% folder as %temp%\nvda.log You can either copy the contents into the body of a message, or attach the file to an email. If you attach the file, you will need to send it to me directly rather than back to the group here - info@.... Kind regards Quentin.
