Re: can't read items in folder

Hi,

The original issue: looks like a UIA focus event problem when opening File Explorer.

Regarding Windows Store and update download anouncement: this is not necessarily a thing with a specific Windows 11 release as Store can update itself from time to time (therefore I think this is more towards something going on with latest stabel version of Windows Store app itself). I'll write about this one soon.

Cheers,

Joseph

Re: can't read items in folder

I don’t have that issue, my percentages read as far as I know.  I have had the folder issue from time to time, however it seems like one of these pesky random ish things.  I also do not lose focus in the store as far as I’m aware. I don’t pay attention to that as I often close the store as soon as  I click “update all.”

Using win11 21h2 22.856 the Windows Store when updating manually you need to tab once if you want to hear the status of the percentage of an update after it starts downloading.  This has been noticed from time to time, but noticed 100% on this version.

I agree, but always do a back up before either of these, as further down the line if DLLs were modified, or anything changed in the registry, then I have had other software then not work correctly after that. You then repair or reinstall said software, only to discover your old problem has come back. Then you have a problem. grin.

Yes, but several someones have introduced what they believe to be related issues. It's perfectly OK for anyone to respond regarding those issues when they know something about them, but not necessarily the one you originally identified.

But you also need to realize that yours is the very first report of this particular issue that I can recall on the NVDA Group. That really does suggest that this issue is limited, if not strictly to you then to a very small subset of NVDA users.

Whenever any suspected NVDA-related issue is encountered, the first thing to do is: The Most Basic Troubleshooting Steps for Suspected NVDA Issues ( https://nvda.groups.io/g/nvda/message/81494 )

If the issue seems possibly related to Windows (and this one is clearly in that class) it never hurts, after having tried those basic troubleshooting steps, to do the following:

1. Using DISM (Deployment Imaging Servicing and Management) and SFC (System File Checker) to Repair Windows 8.1, 10 & 11 ( https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0B98uELZbPFnOc2l4M0Y1V3pkcGM )

2. Performing a Windows 10 or 11 Repair Install or Feature Update Using the Windows ISO file ( https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=1RZiHlLVtXewYBgoSvJNm9_08hj1tALPK )

If #1 fixes the issue, #2 is unnecessary.

All of these steps are part of the process of elimination and step-by-step diagnostics in order to rule-in or rule-out possible factors.

Not a problem.  As I said earlier, we do not have an official language, but English is the de facto one.  The main reason I give these warnings, if they can be called that, is so that someone who's posted in something other than English is aware that this will greatly restrict the number of responses they are likely to get.

Graphical User Interface (GUI).  Windows is a GUI and all Windows-based programs that aren't Command Prompt or PowerShell use GUIs.

How to use SPSS or NVIVO, other than how either might be set up to be the most compatible with NVDA, is not germane to this group.  Learning how to use either one of these pieces of software should occur elsewhere.

TesseractOCR do not use NAPS2! It uses wia-cmd-scanner to control the WIA compliant scanner and Tesseract to recognize the text found on the digitalized image...

NAPS2TesseractOCR uses NAPS2, a portable app that uses Twain or WIA compliant scanners, and an old version of Tesseract...

Now a days WIA is the standard protocol for scanners...

Is there any way around this error? Also in the next version, could you please consider adding a cancel keystroke or cancel button in a window? It would be a real shame if the only way of cancelling a scan job was to restart NVDA. As far as I know, I have all of the relevant drivers installed.
