an issue about the NVDA 2018.2 and instent translate addon
Mert Anlar
Hi fokes
since I installed the NVDA 2018.2 update, I cannot use the Instent translate addon. setting up it's shortcuts, and also the languages, for example, from En to TR, but it automatically sets from auto to TR and, until I restart the NVDA, it doesn't allows me to open any NVDA dialog box. i'm getting the following error. An NVDA settings dialog is already open. Please close it first. note that using the latest instent translate dev 4.1 here is the log ERROR - unhandled exception (15:41:23.148): Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Users\Mert\AppData\Roaming\nvda\addons\instantTranslate\globalPlugins\instantTranslate\interface.py", line 106, in onOk File "wx\_core.pyo", line 16711, in __getattr__ PyDeadObjectError: The C++ part of the Choice object has been deleted, attribute access no longer allowed.

Bug in 2018 Braille
John J. Boyer
Hello,
Using the U.S. Grade 2 table and NVDA 2018.2 I have observed the following. When a word begins with a capital letter both the dot 6 capital sign and the dot 7 on the letter itself are shown. This does not happen if the letter is part of a contraction. For eexample, If the word is Tooth dot 6 preceeds the translation and the beginning t also has dot 7. If the word is That the translation has dot 6 poreceding thr T that contracts that, and the T has no dot 7. This version of NVDA uses liblouis 2.4. The latest release is liblouis 2/6/0. Hopefully the bug has been corrected in this release. Thanks, John -- John J. TSB, Say no more. Here in the UK so much has gone wrong in that bank to do with customers not being able to get their money etc that the boss was called to the house of Commons last week to explain why their IT update had been so badly handled. if they are the same company, then it explains a lot.

Re: Inaccessible Banking Website

Hi

I am not from nvaccess but i had some thing similar happen to my bank here in new zealand. It was our TSB bank. Where the site was accessible with lists etc they changed pretty much all of it to graphics. The only way i could navigate the account section was to use the letter G for graphics on the page. This was in the accounts section where i do my banking etc. When you also used the elements list to see if there were any links in those graphics there were not. They also took out the formatted headings which they had made into graphics. So i went through there website in the account section through the different areas there and put it into a email. What they had to do. I did also say i use a screen reader and am blind to do my banking also gave them a link to the nvda screen reader to test with. I also pointed out the places where there were graphics they needed the alt text for nvda to see those and to bring up in the elements list same with what used to be headings which was then turned to graphics they were then formatted back to hadings etc with alt text etc. Part of there reasoning to was they wanted to make it easier to use on tablets but then they also found out things did not come up right on the tablets etc with colors etc. they also did a text only website but i could never remember the address and i did not want it. I think now it the text side of it is now used for tablets etc. Any how they fixed the stuff i pointed out and am happy this happened a few years back. They done another update last year and pointed outed a few things and they were fixed as well. for example a button that was a graphic so i got them to make it into a button so nvda could see it. NVDA and Login screen
Cearbhall O'Meadhra
Hi,
Since the latest update, I find Narrator speaks on the PC login screen before Windows starts up even though I have NVDA set to do this. I have searched through Narrator’s settings and I cannot see that there is a setting there to prevent it from coming on during the PC login. Yet NVDA does not com up until I login.
Is there anything I can do?
All the best,
Cearbhall

Re: Question Re: NVDA 2018.2, benefits for Win7 users?
Brian's Mail list account
Well like last time, nvda 2018.1 was on 7, but if you wanted 2018.1.1 you had to get it manually, as the fix only was on windows10, though with hindsight from the experiences recently, I think this was a bad way to go on as I imagine this is why some got the .2 and some did not!
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I got 1.1 here so my update worked straight off this time. As for what is better, there are a lot fo things better for windows 7. The registration tool the different format of preferences to name but two that now seems to work very well. Not sure what triggers the registration tool on master version though. It seems totally random here. Brian bglists@... Sent via blueyonder. Please address personal E-mail to:- briang1@..., putting 'Brian Gaff' in the display name field.
