Re: Sleep mode question
Joseph Norton
Hi:
Yes, it does get interesting.
Thing is, you are able to turn on sleep mode, but, then, you can’t use any NVDA command to do anything, like save the current profile so sleep mode stays on. So, a profile won’t actually accomplish this.
Seems like there was something I could do, relating to the Python console, or some such, but, I didn’t archive it. Hmmm, though, I might search the list archives and see if I can locate it.
Cheers!

Well, it gets more and more interesting with regard to Sleep Mode. After a little experimenting, where I used a specific Notepad window (one of the three I have open) where I put NVDA to sleep with NVDA + Shift + S (Desktop keyboard layout): Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H2, Build 19044 The instinctive need to be the member of a closely-knit group fighting for common ideals may grow so strong that it becomes inessential what these ideals are. ~ Konrad Lorenz (1903-1989)

Reading time positions of tracks in studio recorder
Saylor Cooper
Hello NVDA users,
Is there anyone on here that uses the studio recorder editing software from APH because if so, I have some clarifications on how to navigate it with NVDA. When I’m using Jaws and I press Ctrl home or end, it tells me which position of time I am on in the editing workspace like zero minutes and 30 seconds or 20 minutes and 30 seconds. However it does not announce anything with NVDA. Therefore how can I get it to announce those timestamps? Saylor Cooper

You can set NVDA not to announce visited links. To do this, open document formatting, control d, and tab to visited links. It's a checkbox. Press the space bar to uncheck it, then activate the ok button.

While on the subject of visited links, it is important to say that if you delete your browser history, you will lose all visited links. The browser keeps that information in history. Off and on, I see people advising to delete browser history to see if it solves a problem. I don't know if doing so might solve any problems but those who use or rely on visited links should know they will lose all of them if they do this. I'm skeptical that removing history solves problems to any extent anyway but whatever the case, this is seldom stated when people make such recommendations and it is important to be stated.
I don't recall if someone asked how to move to visited links. V moves you to the next visited link, shift v moves you to the previous one.

Hi Joseph,
I am not experiencing this issue. I just did a google search and everything functioned as it should. Here is my version number: Microsoft EdgeVersion 97.0.1072.62 (Official build) (64-bit) Also it says I am up to date. On 1/15/2022 7:32 PM, Joseph Lee wrote:

I believe jaws does this, or did when I last used it in 2009. You can have this setting turned off, but yeah I don’t as my memory is crummy at best, thanks condition I didn’t know I had until 2019.

Re: Microsoft Edge Suddenly Less Accessible with NVDA
Hi everyone, No, this is not an add-on issue. I just tried searching for something with Google via Edge 97 and received a traceback that ends with COM error, and the traceback does not point to add-on code (if it did, a code fragment from the add-on will be printed). It turns out switching to Chrome might not be a good idea at this time - I tried the same thing with Chrome and received the same COM error traceback. In fact, NV Access is aware of this issue that began when Chromium 97 based browsers hit the stable channel as shown in the following NVDA issue: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/13223 Therefore, I can tell you all that you are not alone. Cheers, Joseph

Re: NVDA 2021.3.1 cursor doesn't move in Google product edit fields
If, at some point, when someone is certain that they can consistently replicate the behavior, I'd be happy to have a quick remote session with Windows Quick Assist so that I can determine whether the cursor is indeed moving, and NVDA is silent, or if it has stalled.
One of the quickest ways to rule out the possiblity of an add-on being at fault is restarting NVDA with add-ons disabled and try the process again. If it recurs, it's almost certainly NVDA itself, and if it doesn't, it's almost certainly an add-on that's the culprit. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H2, Build 19044 The instinctive need to be the member of a closely-knit group fighting for common ideals may grow so strong that it becomes inessential what these ideals are. ~ Konrad Lorenz (1903-1989)

Re: NVDA 2021.3.1 cursor doesn't move in Google product edit fields
Louise Pfau
Hi. I'll try to isolate if there is an add-on behind it. I get typing echo when I type in the Google edit fields, but no spoken feedback when I navigate with the ARROW KEYS in the event that I made a typo that I want to correct. That's what led me to believe that the cursor wasn't moving. I tried navigating within another application's edit field to isolate the issue to Google products before I posted the original message.

I'm just curious if any JAWS and NVDA users, and I know we've got those, can either confirm or refute my memory.
