Hi, Tyler,


I took the plunge to test it while connected to the machine with my friend not present.

I updated the add-on, copied the settings over to be used for UAC and security prompts, then went ahead and updated NVDA on the machine in question.

All seems to be working fine, both with UAC dialogues as well as the security check for entering a PIN.

İ can't say if this will help without seeing the page, but perhaps
going to the document formatting section in the NVDA preferences and
changing some of the settings, then checking the checkbox to report
formatting changes might help. Again, I don't know if this is the
case, but its worth a try. There just might be a problem with the way
the page is formatted.

Hello Tony, others,

I have another problem with the SentenceNav add-on settings panel. This seems to be a problem that only appears visually, not in speech.

What happens is that some of the settings (from "Sentence breakers" down to "Disaple SentenceNav in applications") are all shown on top of the first setting ("Volume of chime when crossing paragraph border"). Because they are on top of each other, only the last one of them is visible.

When I check the program, it seems that all the setting elements that are created via sHelper (gui.guiHelper.BoxSizerHelper) and all the settings with sliders (which use settingSizer, the second argument to the makeSettings) get some space, but all the other settings don't get space.

Because this is a problem of on-screen layout, it may be very difficult to debug. I'm ready to help as much as I can, but any advice regarding layout of settings dialogs is appreciated.

Whenever I try updating the add-on to version 2.4, I am basically locked out of the laptop in question, since there is a PIN or security dialogue in place.
With v 2.3 of the add-on, I can always enter the PIN with no problem whatsoever.
As soon as we update the add-on to make way for a new NVDA installation, I can only access the machine so long as there is no UAC-related dialogue or the laptop does not go into screen lock mode.
Has anyone seen this and is there a fix?
I've contacted the developers on their e-mail address, but no answer whatsoever. I've also tried searching the Github page, but nobody seems to have that issue.
We've tried uninstalling both NVDA, the add-on, also cleared the "use current settings for logon" and copied that over again, none of which did anythingto resolve the issue. We've also used other laptops to tap into the system, but every laptop produced the same result.
Any idea is welcome, or if anyone knows of current ways to reach the developers, please post.
I know that the UAC comes up and wants a PIN cause I can hear it on TeamTalk, but that part does not handshake with my system for some reason and I cannot
enter anything, as if there were no connection.

Actually, I concur with Jackie - program-l is much better and is a general programming list for blind developers. The list does receive Python questions from time to time.

As a side note, when it comes to freelists.org and lists you may be interested in, it is always worth going to their list search page and doing your own search.

One that I found there on a search for "blind programmer" is pyblind, which is for blind Python programmers.  A search on "blind programming" would probably have a lot of overlap, with some groups not shared with the "blind programmer" search.

The pyblind list, if it's active (that I didn't check) would be a good resource for someone interested in "the nuts and bolts" that underpin NVDA.

I am digging into learning about Python and command line, and I'm hoping to dig into some other programming topics also. I wanted to know if anybody could recommend any programmers mailing lists for me to sign up for where I could ask entry-level blind programmer questions. Things like how to make eclipse work with NVDA, or suggestions for accessible online learning resources (I'm currently using codecademy which is spotty on accessibility, but I have been able to get about halfway through the beginner Python course.)

New steps begin on new lines.
Open tools in the NVDA menu.
down arrow to manage add-ons and press enter, and find the add-on in the list.
Then tab until you get to a help button and press the space bar.
I believe this usually opens the web page where you downloaded the add-on and the page usually has a description of how to use the add-on and available commands.
