Hi, NOte that after installing the new add-on version from the below link, Add-on Updater may prompt you to "upgrade" to an older release; ignore it: https://github.com/josephsl/addonUpdater/releases/download/22.01/addonUpdater-22.01.nvda-addon Cheers, The author of Add-on Updater add-on

Re: NVDA Remote 2.4 Faulty with 2021.3.1 and Below.
Nermin
Hi, Tyler,
I took the plunge to test it while connected to the machine with my friend not present. I updated the add-on, copied the settings over to be used for UAC and security prompts, then went ahead and updated NVDA on the machine in question. All seems to be working fine, both with UAC dialogues as well as the security check for entering a PIN. Thanks, Nermin

Hi,
Got it, thanks a bunch! Do you know what caused this weird issue in the first place? Will test it once my friend gets back from work. Regards, Nermin

Re: NVDA and formatting on a webpage
Ali Colak
İ can't say if this will help without seeing the page, but perhaps
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
going to the document formatting section in the NVDA preferences and changing some of the settings, then checking the checkbox to report formatting changes might help. Again, I don't know if this is the case, but its worth a try. There just might be a problem with the way the page is formatted.

This one should work, just compiled from git:

Hi,
I'd love to, but I'm neither signed up with Github nor do I have any compiler.

SentenceNav settings problem (Re: [nvda] Tony's add-ons: updates and new features)
Martin J. Dürst <duerst@...>
Hello Tony, others,
I have another problem with the SentenceNav add-on settings panel. This seems to be a problem that only appears visually, not in speech. What happens is that some of the settings (from "Sentence breakers" down to "Disaple SentenceNav in applications") are all shown on top of the first setting ("Volume of chime when crossing paragraph border"). Because they are on top of each other, only the last one of them is visible. When I check the program, it seems that all the setting elements that are created via sHelper (gui.guiHelper.BoxSizerHelper) and all the settings with sliders (which use settingSizer, the second argument to the makeSettings) get some space, but all the other settings don't get space. Because this is a problem of on-screen layout, it may be very difficult to debug. I'm ready to help as much as I can, but any advice regarding layout of settings dialogs is appreciated. Regards, Martin.

Try compiling the latest git master. That should fix it.

NVDA and formatting on a webpage
Ashley Wayne
Hello, Is the NVDA key plus F the only command to read how text is sformatted (underline, bold etc)? A site that I use for my kids’ school has different math questions with certain numbers underlined. For some of them, NVDA plus F reads the underlined digit, but not for others. Would appreciate any suggestions if there is any way around this without asking for sighted help. Thanks.

Re: Blind programmer mailing lists
Hi, Actually, I concur with Jackie - program-l is much better and is a general programming list for blind developers. The list does receive Python questions from time to time. Cheers, Joseph

Re: Blind programmer mailing lists
As a side note, when it comes to freelists.org and lists you may be interested in, it is always worth going to their list search page and doing your own search.
One that I found there on a search for "blind programmer" is pyblind, which is for blind Python programmers. A search on "blind programming" would probably have a lot of overlap, with some groups not shared with the "blind programmer" search. The pyblind list, if it's active (that I didn't check) would be a good resource for someone interested in "the nuts and bolts" that underpin NVDA. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H2, Build 19044 The instinctive need to be the member of a closely-knit group fighting for common ideals may grow so strong that it becomes inessential what these ideals are. ~ Konrad Lorenz (1903-1989)

Blind programmer mailing lists
Justin Harford
Greetings everyone I am digging into learning about Python and command line, and I'm hoping to dig into some other programming topics also. I wanted to know if anybody could recommend any programmers mailing lists for me to sign up for where I could ask entry-level blind programmer questions. Things like how to make eclipse work with NVDA, or suggestions for accessible online learning resources (I'm currently using codecademy which is spotty on accessibility, but I have been able to get about halfway through the beginner Python course.) NVDA Settings Search Feature Request - Here it is . . .
As I suspected, I didn't have the magic search terms for this particular issue.
If you are an NVDA user who believes that there should be a Settings Search function, please see the following issue, and add a comment to the end: Provide the ability to search for a setting to change #872 -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H2, Build 19044 The instinctive need to be the member of a closely-knit group fighting for common ideals may grow so strong that it becomes inessential what these ideals are. ~ Konrad Lorenz (1903-1989)

Re: Orbit writer and nvda
There is. Here is the website for the group. Click the appropriate sub email on the page. Everyone on there is friendly and very helpful.
-----Original Message-----
It would be good if there was an Orbit Writer list, as I'm struggling with similar questions about using it with Talkback. I seem to be in grade 1 braille and punctuation gives me numbers, for example, A lower d gives me 4 and not a full stop/period?

I am having trouble with both products, and wondering if anyone has the answer. How do you enter commands, such as alt plus F4, or navigate through the start menu using the orbit writer? I can get into the start menu, but cannot navigate it. Is it possible to use this device as a keyboard without a QWERTY keyboard hooked to the system? Any help would be greatly appreciated. > Thanks, > > Guy > > JAWS Certified, 2021, > https://www.freedomscientific.com/Training/Certification > > > > >

Right, These are correct steps. An alternative way would be to open github page directly. Here is
