I'm not sure if you're sending these messages by e-mail, or using the web interface to post, but if it's the latter I'd like to ask you to go to any line where you have pasted in a web address or email address, go to the end, and hit space.  That will force Groups.io to convert plain text for either of these to click through links.

It is strictly available from the developer, who has provided the source link to get it repeatedly.  It is brand, spankin' new and not a part of the NVDA Add-Ons Marketplace, yet.
 
I should also have added to my last message that exact, and I do mean exact, error text that you get for the failures is pretty much necessary as well.  But don't bother retesting until you have uninstalled your current NVDA completely, and reinstalled.

If you uninstall NVDA 2021.2, then install NVDA 2021.3.1, and are still having the issue, then please report back.  And before reporting back, restart NVDA with debug logging level on so that information is captured about what's going on.

It is impossible to guide you any further than I, and Gene, already have.  I know of no one who's having update problems with NVDA 2021.3 or 2021.3.1, freshly installed after NVDA 2021.2 has been previously removed.

Hi, i’d like to know why can’t i get updates whether they are ad-ons or updates to nvda specificly.  It seems for me at least, that i still can’t get ad-on updates and i still can’t find the new nvda advanced OCR ad-on.  Where can i get this update.  thank you for any information that you might have concerning this question.

We are proud to tell you that a new version of Nao is available.
This is the last version for 2021.
We have added new features and solved some bugs, here is the list:
• OCR of pdf and images are presented in a new text window, with some hotkeys for simple operations; in this manner we automatically solved the incompatibility with third party addons; shortcuts are:
◦ PgUp / PgDown: move the cursor between real pages of a multipages document.
◦ P: report page number related to the cursor position, in a multipage document.
◦ l: report line number related to the cursor position, in a multipage document.
◦ c: copy all text to the clipboard.
◦ s: Save a copy of the document in text format.
◦ f: find text and read some words before and after the string.
• Support for the Xplorer filemanager.
• Nao shortcuts are customizable from the Input Gestures Dialog of NVDA. Open NVDA menu, go to preferences, and from that submenu select input gestures dialog. Remember that this feature is not global, but it works only where Nao can make an ocr. So gestures will appear only if you are in the desktop, or in file explorer, Total Commander or Xplorer.
• Nao works only where possible, so if you are in a not supported window, the hotkey will be ignored by the addon; this solved an important issue where Excel and Word users couldn't press the NVDA-Shift-r keystroke, since it was incorrectly intercepted by Nao.
• A long Ocr process can be aborted simply pressing the "Cancel" button on the progress bar window. this window also gives you information about the state of the OCR, updating informations every 5 seconds. You can configure how to receive progress bar information with the standard NVDA-u command.
• Added Turkish, Russian, Spanish, Chinese and french translations.
• Users can make donations to the project.
• Fixed a bug with some characters on the file name that prevents the Ocr to work properly.

What follows is being offered because members trying to subscribe to other Groups.io groups have been receiving very confusing bounce messages when using an outlook.com (or other Microsoft mail domain) address to subscribe to a restricted group.  Don't presume if you get a bounce message after having subscribed to a group, and having replied to the confirmation message, that anything is necessarily wrong.

Why you need to be aware whether the group you’re subscribing to is restricted, or unrestricted, and that Outlook.com (and possibly other providers, too) add misleading leader sections on Groups.io bounce messages:

 

This message is long, but I'm going to describe what's going on as best I can.  But the long and the short of it is that the bounce messages members have been receiving that just so happened to be using an outlook.com address are not, in all probability, connected to that at all.  Or at least the fact they’re getting them isn’t, but the stuff Outlook sticks in front of the actual Groups.io bounce text is.

First, it's important to note that virtually all of the blind-tech-centric groups are NOT what Groups.io calls a restricted group.  When you send a subscribe message, you are instantly accepted for membership in the group without any need for the group owner's or moderator's manual intervention to approve your membership.  Your first message is, by groups.io default, held for review by the group owner or moderator before subsequent messages can post.

A very great many (not all, but many) non-blind-tech-centric groups are, in fact, restricted groups where, after sending the subscribe message, and after replying to the confirm message, you are still not a member of the group you are attempting to subscribe to until and unless someone in group administration approves you for membership.  If you attempt to send any message to the group prior to your membership in the group being approved, you will receive a  abounce message that, by all appearances, makes it seem as though the groups.io posting address for the group you're trying to send a message to does not exist.  Here is a snippet of what I got back, twice, when attempting to send a message to a testing group, that was a restricted group, before my membership was approved.  I had subscribed using an outlook.com email address and there were many more lines between the line ending " below" and the one starting with "Diagnostic":

The actual reason for the bounce message is buried way, way, way further down in the administrator diagnostic information:  Your subscription has not yet been approved.

Once your membership is approved, you then get whatever welcome message that group's administration has set up to go out for new members. So if you have received a group’s welcome message, you can be sure that your membership has been approved.

After you have received the welcome message, you will no longer get the bounce messages like the one noted above.  But your first message will still be held for review and no other messages will go out to the group if you send them until the group administration has reviewed and released your first one.

So, if you get a bounce message, it makes sense to search it for the phrase, Diagnostic information for administrators, and then review a few of the lines below that line.  Right after the group's main address you should hit the line that tells you precisely why you got the bounce message.

This is likely to remain the same for the foreseeable future, and if you're joining a lot of groups you cannot presume that they're all unrestricted groups like most of the blind-tech-centric groups are.

Is there any NVDA addon or app that will speak words as they are entered by dictation with Dragon Naturally Speaking 15.61?  Dictation Bridge does not work with NVDA 2021.  I like the NVDA feature which speaks typed words and would like the same for dictation.  Dragon Naturally Speaking has a feature to play back your voice and another feature that will read out text that is selected but no echo of dictated words.

For the record, the NVDA Group policy is only to allow the posting of "calls for participants" after such have been reviewed by group administration.  These have been allowed before, but generally only for research being conducted by academic institutions, with a few rare exceptions.

Anyone who wishes to post a message with a call for participants should only do so after having sent it to the NVDA Group Owner, nvda+owner@nvda.groups.io, and having received approval.

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas.
if I do not make a mistake in the last two weeks the messenger application from the Microsoft store has made some upgrades.
However before the upgrade from the messenger application I had downloaded it in Windows 10 from the Microsoft store.
I had absolutely no problem it worked very well with the nvda.
since then I can not read messages I can not send audio messages I can not listen to messages.
It only allows me to make calls Why do I not know this thing ?.
I tried the nvda and space button but it does not work as a virtual home.
