Re: list of open applications within a desktop

Hi,

Windows+Tab, or if you want, press Control+Alt+Tab. These are Windows commands (although NVDA’s SysTrayList add-on does let you see open windows by pressing NVDA+F11 twice quickly, it will only show you Taskbar icons).

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi guys:

I am curious;

In jaws,

the key command jaws plus f10 opens a list of all the open windows within a desktop;

Does nvda have an equivalent command?

Please advise as you like.

Hello NVDA community,

As we await NVDA 2020.4, I figured the following podcast would be educational for many of you:

I sat down with Vytautus from Tech VB for an in-depth interview about NVDA, add-ons, accessibility advocacy and many topics. The resulting podcast (about two hours in length) is now available for your enjoyment:

In-depth interview with NVDA contributor Joseph Lee, We talked about Screen readers, Education, and everything else accessibility related – techvb.net

Thanks to Vytautus from Tech VB for inviting me for this interview, and of course, special shout-out to Nv Access people for making NVDA possible and add-on authors for opening up possibilities for thousands. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to reach out to me privately (not on NVDA users group please).

Cheers,

Joseph

Hey there,

after some of you recommented to use Reaper, I now installed the latest version incl all Scripts.

But there’s nothing coming out over the speakers. There’s also no right possibility to select the sound device, only the selection if I want to use either Asio, WDM, Wasabi or whatever is shown to me in the options dialogue.

Any hints how to solve this issue?

Thanks in advance

Moderator's Note: Please do not bottom post if you are going to leave 6 long previous messages all top posted, in their entirety. Either trim for context, and leave only what's needed to establish it, delete all previous content before starting your post, or if you don't want to do either of those then top-post only.

To find out your Windows version:
1. Hold down the Windows key (like a Ctrl key) then press the letter r.
let go of both keys after tapping the r.
A "Run" dialog box will appear with your focus inside of an edit box.
Inside of this box, type
winver
and press Enter.
NVDA should read the information box that just popped up (or you can use NBDA+B (B as in Boy)to read it).

Easier as in efficient, right? honestly, anything can be relearned. Just as I had to learn Thunderbird, as I wouldn't touch email clients with a 2222 foot pole before 2017, you can learn to be efficient with web interfaces. The mail app lacks local storage which I use, and therefore I wouldn't consider using it.

Well, most email can be done via the web anyway. I agree that

Thunderbird is more efficient, but I didn't start using it until 2017. I

used web-based interfaces from 2003 until then.

I think a lot of times, developers make presentations, and then just put
them on the back burner as far as projects go. Of course this doesn't
happen all the time, Facebook is a good example of that. they used to do
yearly conferences, and every year, they were followed by massive
changes. That doesn't happen in a lot of cases.

I can't imagine why, given Mozilla's track record, that anything they
code would not be accessible (with the occasional bobble).

The conventions for accessible web coding are very well known, and
supported by every screen reader I'm aware of.  It's not that web
applications cannot be accessible, it's that many are not coded with
any consideration given to accessibility.

Provided any web coder is not determined to use "the very latest and
greatest" new coding, which is far less likely on an email client than
other things, I see no reason why it would not be entirely
accessible.  Only time will tell, though.

Hi All,

For those who use Google docs, if I am reading the doc in browse mode, only the first page is shown in the browser, however, it shows completely if I am reading the document in Focus mode.  Has anyone else seen this?

Also, I am noticing that when a doc loads and Focus mode is automatically enabled, if I return to Browse mode, I am not seeing the sidebar items to rename, share, etc. that I used to see when using Browse mode that always used to be above the document.  The only work-around I have found is to press alt+shift+F and then shift+tab to get to these items.  I’m wondering if they have changed this behavior sometime last year to hide this?  These issues happen in Firefox or Chrome in Win10.

 Thanks,

Jonathan

Good day tech gurus

I trust you are all well and still safe.

I am trying to cope.

I need your assistance.

I am working with many pdf documents full of footnotes.

As you may know, even when I convert the document into word, the
footnotes are maintained.

1. how do I access and review them using nvda?

2. how do I virtualise them in order to copy them if needs be?

With JAWS, I press WinKey+semicolon to access a dialog that allows me
to choose from a list of options, e.g. comments, footnotes, etc. I
will then select footnotes to virtualise, review and copy them to a
new location for further review and editing.

How is that done with NVDA?

Your assistance is highly appreciated in advance.
