I dun no,  for me I am now used to how the page looks. Don’t ne need to get used to saying it’s on this line, not every link on a separate line? I find myself coding that way which is incorrect. It should IMHO be off by default and the user can turn it on if they so choose. I always hated links on separate lines even way back in 2002 when I started using jaws.

Brian,

I'm actually with Gene on this one. For me, this is much like Numpad Nav Mode, which is currently an add-on, and the only add-on I have installed with NVDA at this point. For those coming from other screen readers, the behavior NVDA displays when screen layout is on may throw some people off. It definitely was strange to me when I first encountered it, having used System Access for about a year at that point and JAWS at school before then. I probably should use K to navigate by link more than I do, but many times I either tab to it or use the elements list.

Gene, NVDA key plus v acts as a toggle for screen view.

Open browse mode settings with NVDA key control b.  Tab to use screen layout where supported.  It’s a check box.  Uncheck it with the space bar.  Press enter.  Now you will see every linkk displayed on its own line, and you will also see that on web pages where you may have seen more than one link on a line.

I have said before that use screen layout should be off by default but there is no interest.

Sadly, Using office 365 accounts in thunderbird can be done with the paid addon called Sova. It supports exchange and never office 365 accounts. That's because I moved from thunderbird to outlook. My university e-mail is also a office 365 mailbox. That's why I've moved to outlook

Hi.  I had actually set my default browser to Edge using the procedure described when Internet Explorer was no longer supported.  There are still a few web-based documents that open in Chrome for some reason, or Internet Explorer when I temporarily uninstalled Chrome.  I'm sorry if there was any confusion.

Thanks,

Can you tab to any links for except and decline for invites? I've not yet
had to accept, or decline invites yet in outlook 365. I would suggest
looking at Microsoft office support for your answer in case this is not nvda

Without details, it's impossible to even begin to give any decent recommendation.

Whether one likes Outlook (any version) or not, it is without question the most widely used email client in business settings (and plenty of homes, too) and the best supported by every screen reader in existence.

I don't use Outlook or any email client as a daily driver, but I have not experienced any issues with Outlook as far as rendering messages correctly, and I test with it frequently when it comes to questions asked on this group and a couple of others.

I do love the GitHub site and apps; I use them every single day. In fact, I need to fork some repos over to finish some stuff I started.

Get used to it, as we the people determine what is and is not changed in free ( free speech) software, and GitHub at least for me is the most accessible way to do this. It has changed drastically in a good way over the years I've used it and works quite well with nvda. Henceforth, report those bugs and submit those logs.

Woops? Looks like I'm posting in plane text some how according to outlook. Sorry about that, hope this is still readable.

Lali, is your work running an exchange server? If so, you absolutely can do this with Thunderbird. There is an add-on called Exquilla, that will let Thunderbird communicate flawlessly with an exchange server. I know this, because I use it. I am the biggest outlook hater in the world! Sorry to those who love it. If you have anymore questions, feel free to drop me an email.

Re: Outlook 365 crash: Pressing DownArrow in rapid succession closes Outlook

I will repeat the request I made yesterday, and that is that logs or log segments NOT be posted to the group.  The group owner and myself have asked, on multiple occasions, that this not be done.

If you have been asked for a log or log segment by a specific developer, please send that to them privately.

If you have an issue like this one, that you can reliably reproduce, then please consider following this tutorial:  Creating an Issue in GitHub for NVDA

Re: Error-logging and Reporting

Per Quentin Christensen in the topic, NVDA Beta 4 error tone when opening outlook:

Alpha and Beta builds play an error sound whenever an error is written to the log.  RC and stable builds will record exactly the same errors, but don't play a sound.  There are a number of situations where NVDA might record an error, however it then tries something else which works, and so most end users wouldn't notice anything amiss.

If you can reliably reproduce an error in that situation, as Joseph noted, you can find the exact errors in the log, do test if you can reproduce with add-ons disabled, and if so, it's still worth creating an issue on GitHub for: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues

We'll prioritise issues which have an adverse reaction for users of course, but fixing such an error might still result in a smoother experience.

-----------------------------
The short version is, "Ignore them unless an actual problem in doing what you're doing is experienced."

If you do encounter that sort of problem, and can reliably reproduce it, then consider: Creating an Issue in GitHub for NVDA

Error-logging and Reporting

When the NVDA beta gives that descending C major tritone, should I then be checking a log somewhere, and emailing what I find to NV Access?

Or, does the beta automatically phone home periodically and submit error logs?

Thanks

Chris

Outlook 365 crash: Pressing DownArrow in rapid succession closes Outlook

Daniel Gartmann <dgartmann@...>

Hello,

I have been able to reproduce this a couple of times in a row now running NVDA 2020.4 beta 4. It happens if I do quick presses of DownArrow when at the end of a message.

I am quickly pasting a log fragment in the hope that it can be useful in debugging the issue:

I am not sure where else to post this, but I am more than happy to do further testing if someone asks for it in the effort to find out what’s going on.

Regards

Daniel

Hi

The original problem was that the default browser had been changed to Chrome as you described.  This action does not change the default app for .htm and .html, so when NVDA user guide was opened, it still used Edge.

Cheers

Hi.  I checked the settings for filetypes, and the htm and html files are set to open in Edge, and are mentioned as Edge files.  I can't find a filetype for Chrome, which is the browser that some web-based documentation (including the NVDA user guide) has opened in.  When I uninstalled Chrome, they opened in Internet Explorer.  I reinstalled Chrome, and the documentation went back to opening there.  I won't fiddle around with the filetypes without knowing what I'm doing.
