Re: replacing clickable with a sound?

No but would this not be a bit confusing. I use navigational sounds for Firefox and of course this makes links click when you click them. It does not make clickable click when you click them, so if you are saying it would be nice if clickable links clicked when operated, then I'd be with you otherwise I have no issue with it being read as clickable to define these as different from normal links.

Hi.

Is it possible to change the announcement of clickable to a clicking sound
instead?

Thanks in advance.

Listening back to some older techtalks from rnib the other day, one person on there had all sorts of issues withOffice 2016, including the one mentioned and it affected other screenreaders as well. In the end she had to go back to Office 2013 which resolved it.
I don't think anyone could pin the weird effects down. She was using windows 10 without the anniversary update.

This has nothing to do with audio devices. If you have speech, you have speech. Audio device configuration has nothing to do with what a screen-reader reads.
It has to do with whether it has the ability to produce speech.

For some reason, NVDA is not reading or not seeing certain graphics. I don't use Office and I don't know what others' experience is.

So far, I have not been able to resolve the problem related in my message below. May I add two more questions? I am working with a new drive, new installation of windows 10, new subscription to Office 2016 for business, and new download of NVDA:

1. Can anyone tell me that they are not having the problem I encounter with Outlook 2016?

2. Is it possible that this problem arises from something to do with how my programs are installed, including the sound output devices? I doubt it, since everything else seems normal, but I thought I should ask.

Dear Folks,

Before this conversation dies down, let me put my problem again. I have used Outlook 2007 for a number of years and was satisfied with how NVDA worked with it. Now I have Office 2016 for Business. My outlook opens the inbox in a view that NVDA announces as “Table View.” It is simply the list of emails that I am familiar with as the list of messages in the folder. When I navigate this list the sender, Subject, Date and Time are announced in the normal way, but not other fields (whether the message is unread or flagged or has an attachment). Visually, the closed envelope, flag, and paper clip are all present in their respective columns. Does anyone have the same experience or did anyone find out how to solve it?

Warm regards,

Ralph

Gene New Zealand <hurrikennyandopo@...>

Hi again

Also check under the document formatting section for one called clickable or report if clickable and if it is unchecked you should not hear it heard. I am guessing the add on should still tell you via noise you will have to see if it does the job for you.

Hi

Not sure if this is the type of add on you are looking for. It is under development but it will do the different noises etc. You might have to turn off say the reporting of links etc in document formatting so you do not hear the sound then link if you get what I mean.

The link to this add on is http://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/audioThemes.en.html

I think there is also another called og sounds or something like that. I could not find it on the site but I think i have a copy here or it might be on my web site called Accessibilitycentral.net under the add ons section.

Hope this helps.

Losing to Links

David Russell

Hello NVDA members,

Does anyone have a solution for an issue that seems to be occurring
more frequently when selecting a given website using Mozilla FireFox?

Either the website just comes up as the link and URL, or if at the
website, minutes later NVDA reads only the URL. Tabbing forward and
backward might correct the issue. Any text is gone when this occurs.
Again, this occurs with FireFox - current version, or next to the
current version as best I can tell.

Thanks.

No it even does this if the screensave is off from what I've found. It might
be a nice thing to see if one imports the exe notepad file from xp to 10 and
run it from another place to see if it still does it. Certainly Wordpad from
XP seems to be better than the 10 native one as I've tried it.For one

Yes, I experience this semi-regularly, particularly in Firefox, where I
often have to alt-tab away and back to get pages to work.

Hello,

Is this a known issue? I couldn't find anything related on Github but I

Well I sometimes used to get it when scrolling up and down lists as well, it was improved a lot by making sure that the processor at idle actually used more of its valuable time, by which I mean I set idle to over 50 percent

Hi Pascal,

I don’t see that on my systems.

Try the same with narrator to see if it is NVDA related. Use Windows-Enter to start and stop narrator.

Hi,

I am experiencing the following.  Anyone noticed the same?

When I delete a file, NVDA states “processing” and nothing happens for a long time.

When I hit the backspace to back out of a folder, the same thing happens.

When I load Firefox or IE11, NVDA states “blank” and sits there for a while.  Sometimes I just don’t wait and relaunch the browser.

At times it refuses to open fields in a form I am filling out. This is particularly frustrating when it is a financial form within my bank home page.

Are these things Win10 related or NVDA.  I am using the latest version of both.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Blessings

Re: Follow-up: Problems with [nvda] Outlook 2016

Hi Ralph,

I can believe in Option 2.

I also hear the table view when switching in a folder, but all messages are read perfectly with unread and attachments etc.

In the View ribbon I have turned off reading panel, todo and people and my outlook is in Folder view (control-6=

Best regards,

Friends,

So far, I have not been able to resolve the problem related in my message below. May I add two more questions? I am working with a new drive, new installation of windows 10, new subscription to Office 2016 for business, and new download of NVDA:

1. Can anyone tell me that they are not having the problem I encounter with Outlook 2016?

2. Is it possible that this problem arises from something to do with how my programs are installed, including the sound output devices? I doubt it, since everything else seems normal, but I thought I should ask.

Warmly,

Ralph

Ralph
