Re: query

Hi Anthony

Use the h and shift+h key to jump between the section headings within the manual then you can just read the parts you are interested in using the arrow keys.  Use NVDA key+downarrow to start NVDA reading continuously.  When continuous reading is in effect, you can use the shift key like a pause/play button or the control key to stop continuous reading mode.

To move around within a table control, you navigate using Control+alt+arrow key commands.  Up/down arrows are used to navigate rows and left-right for columns.  Don’t forget, you must hold down control+Alt then press the appropriate arrow key to move around a table.

Cheers

Chris

Could you explain further what you mean by Virtual version 2.1? Virtual what?

The NVDA manual is not on the General menu.  You need to press N?VDA+n to open the top level menu, arrow down to Help and press enter.

Hi

out of curiosity does the same shortcuts work on a windows 8 machine? if i remember right you would get the same thing to touch it to try and do some thing from the autoplay menu, but if you had a keyboard you had to set it under the settings.

I just tried the commands on my windows 10 machine and when you figured when to do it I was able to start a copy of nvda that way. I am guessing most people would do it from a usb stick and not a cd to start a copy of nvda.

I can write up something and or add a audio tutorial doing it this way so more people know how to do it. I was not aware or probably did not read all the windows shortcuts only the ones you use most of the time.

it will go to the nvda audio tutorials page and i am guessing will only work if the touch part message comes up if it is set to that or not changed.

Re: difference between Vocalizer and Vocalizer Expressive

David Griffith

My understanding and  experience is that Expressive Voices are more responsive to grammatical forms, so if there is an exclamation mark in the text  with certain words you will get a more expressive voice, similarly for a question mark.

So for example loading Alison Expressive and typing help! On a single line in Word will produce a dramatic shouting affect which you would not get with traditional TTS.

That has certainly been my experience  but this does relates to the Expressive Voices shipped and tied to Jaws  18 so mileage may vary with other products.
