I doubt it's most sites.  Many major sites use HTML 5 but a lot of sites still use only Flash.

Anyone who cares about audio listening is cutting off their nose to spite their face by not having Flash available.  If you don't want to have the risk of being exposed to malicious Flash in advertising, tell Flash not to run or tell it to ask before running.  Increasingly, this isn't necessarty because browsers are increasingly not running Flash content such as advertising unless the user takes an action to have it run.  Of course, you need to be using a recent version of the browser.  Internet Explorer, which is becoming increasingly archaic, doesn't have this feature.

I'm not saying that audio or audio/video material can't have malicious content but if you use reputable sites, it is unlikely.  Flash advertising has a higher chance of being malicious and it slows down loading of pages and may cause crashes.  If your browser doesn't automatically stop it from running, you may want to change the setting in the plugin.  For those who use Ad Blockers or script blockers, you are blocking Flash advertising in general except on white listed sites.

Re: nvda announcing clipboard functions and other keystrokes

Gene

That isn't how most screen-readers work.  I used to try to encourage that this feature be properly implemented by advocating for it here but I've given up.  JAWS knows when a copy or paste has been actually done and doesn't report it otherwise.  So does System Access.  I don't recall what Window-eyes does but since both JAWS and System
Acceess can do it, I would think it would be within reason to have NVDA do it.

Re: Does firefox work with windows ten?

Of course it's compatible with Windows 10.

There is a problem with Flash crashinggg when using Firefox.  I don't know much about it but others can probably propose solutions.  Or your friend can look up the problem by doing a Google search.  She shouldn't download anything from sites that offer to correct problems but she will find discussions on reputable sites such as Bleeping Computer in the results.

As for why one specific site doesn't work, I don't know.

Yes,
there is the addon, but it will say "paste" also if you don't paste any text.
So keep in mind that it works, but you don't really know if you have copied or pasted the text.
It says "copy" when you press ctrl-c.

But it would be much better if we could "disable" roman algarisms altoghether.

hi.
it depends on firefox version.
officially firefox supports windows ten since its 40 version.
you can use firefox 40 and newer version with windows ten.

this program has help file internal when you install it only you

but unfortunately, help files is available only in versions 6.7.7 and previous!
in newer versions, there is no offline help file for this program available.
you can temporarily download and install version 6.7.7, go to the

maybe you can peist it again to its original folder and have help file

Subject: [nvda] Roman algarisms

Hi,
How can i instruct NVDA to announce "DI" as "D" "I" instead of 501 and
"CDI" as "C" "D" "I" instead of 401?
Or, still better, how can I set NVDA to forget roman numbers altogether?

Re: Does firefox work with windows ten?

Brian's Mail list account

I've never had any issues with it. Flash player is a whole other story though. That very much depends on which version of the flash player is on it. I've noticed recently that on any machine, any attempt to update flash player fails and the adobe site then asks you to download a flash player removal tool before you try to install again. I've not tried this in 10, but really 10 is only a souped up windows 8 in any case.
Which version ogf firefox though? I have to say I have not had a lot of luck with the 64 bit versions of firefox on anything much, but the old 32 bit one seems fine to me.

Hi list: Arlene here! I have a sighted friend who's determined to make fire
fox work with her win ten computer. She will not listen to me when I tell
her it does not work. This is spasifically for Canadians to try this site
with win ten and firefox.

And watches the young nd the restless, she gets a message stating that adobe
flash player has crashed. Does anyone know if fire fox is compatible with
windows ten? thanks.

NVDA 2016.4 and Sonar

to all listers
Anyone who use NVDA with Sonar? If so, does the add-on work with the 2016.4 version of NvDA?
A friend told me that he cannot load the instrument in the section drummer in sonar. Haven't check his PC configuration, but he said that he configged all required things for using NvDA with Sonar, but the add-on still notwork
Any help would be appreciated.

Firefox - v 51 - works fine here on my windows 10 64 bit machine, along with chrome, IE11 and opera, since I use different browsers for different activities.

And, for example, on youTube, flash works fine in firefox, but, on that site, it firstly told me to update to a newer version of flash player, and, then went back to that site, it firstly did crash flash player, and, then when restarted firefox, it told me that content is unavailable unless you're located in Canada.

In other words, don't think problem is with firefox, but, with that site, or something.

Stay well

Re: Does firefox work with windows ten?

Firefox works with windows 10.
Most sites will work with it, from time to time firefox and chrome won't work with a site that doesn't support it but most sites do.
If a site doesn't work you need to ask its admins to support other brousers than ie and edge and things.
It may take a while but eventually stuff that didn't will support most things.

Re: Does firefox work with windows ten?

Flash crashes a lot on firefox but firefox, google and others are actively discouraging insecure flash though I still have it on systems because it is still used.
Most sites like youtube use html5 now which is the new standard and which firefox supports.

Hi,
Firstly, Firefox is actively being developed for Windows so I'm not sure
why anyone would think it doesn't work with Windows 10. I run it myself
and it's as stable here as it was on Windows xp. The issue seems to
involve Adobe Flash specifically, so it's a little more complicated than
just asking if Firefox works. I personally don't have Flash and don't
have any intention of installing it. I have seen it crash in many places
for many years, and there have always been problems between Flash and
Firefox as far back as the XP days. So Firefox may work fine, and Adobe
Flash may work perfectly for some websites, but I'm not sure what to
suggest if your friend is hell bent on using Firefox for this particular
site. I can tell you that it probably has very little to do with
Firefox, and may not even be related to Windows 10. Sometimes, we just
have to conclude that certain sites and browsers don't get along. Google
Chrome is pretty awesome if the friend doesn't like IE.
