Hi all,

When I tried the new NVDA 2016.3RC2, I noticed that NVDA still spell out
the output of the command prompt, for example when I launch it it would
spell out the current directory in full; this issue occurred on Windows
10 and is quite annoying when using the command prompt.

Is this a bug in NVDA? If so will this gets fix?

looking at. I do see a read-only box which are consistently
un-checked.

I had exactly this problem a few months ago when I installed Office
2016 on my PC running Windows 10. I found the solution to do with the
trust centre and with unblocking files in the properties of each file
before opening them. This is different from "protection view" when
the document is open.
I
did send a note earlier this week on this topic but I expect it was
swamped by other responses.



Can you confirm that the files you are trying to open are blocked or
unblocked in "Properties"?

Odd, do you ever use file explorer for other things (press Windows+e) and have you noticed any other issues?

Also which version of Windows are you running?  I'm using Rhett latest fast insider bold of Windows 10. I haven't specifically looked lately, but I know I've had various Windows, mostly settings Windows, which either don't respond or close unexpectedly in various builds. I wonder if this is something similar?

Literally, I select a file in the downloads folder and then press the delete key.  It does delete the file but it also closes the folder.  What a pain!


I am running windows 10 most recent updates and NVDA 2016.3-RC2.

Make sure speak typed characters and speak typed words are off, then try
again.

spoken twice but only the beginning of what should be spoken, and
sometimes letters are missing from this.
For example, let's say the text "This is a line of text." is printed to
a console window. In the behavior described above, this might be spoken as:
This. Is. A. Lin. This is a line of text.
Does that sound familiar to anyone, and is there a known remedy?

Also, when you ask for someone to help you get that synthesizer, it isn't clear what you are asking.  If you are asking for a full working version, that request is not appropriate for the list unless you are asking where to purchase it.  You would be asking for an illegal copy if you are asking for a fully functional free copy.  There is very likely a demo which may run for a week or two and which is fully functional for the demo period.  if you want to use that for the tutorial, it would be fine to ask where to get the demo.

Vocaliser requires you to pay over $100 for the license to use the synthesiser. I don't know why you believe it's necessary to have Vocaliser to make a tutorial. You don't need it. Just because other users have and use the addon and have made tutorials featuring it, doesn't mean you have to get it to make a tutorial.

Also, in my opinion, Vocaliser isn't as expressive as its creators would like you to believe. The voices sound very humanlike, true, but they are also flat as pancakes and don't respond to question marks or exclamation points, and you can forget getting them to pronounce things correctly!
