Sure. Uninstalling NVDA does not remove your config.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
The simplest way out of this loop is to go to %appdata%\nvda and delete nvda.ini. You'll have to reconfigure a few things, though.

Hi, You can try deleting your config directory. To access it you can press Windows+R and type "%appdata%" without quotes. Delete the NVDA inside it. Regards, Sukil

Issues with Truvoice
Jermaine Raymer <Jermaine@...>
Hello,
I downloaded NVDA as a trial to see how it might work for my agency’s consumers—When I changed the synthesized voice to one of the Truvoice options, I got a dialogue box which says “Password required to use this Truvoice text-to-speech engine.” Everytime I click the ok button, or click the “x” in the top right of the dialogue, the box with the same message just pops up again. I have now deleted and reinstalled NVDA twice, and both times I reinstalled, it simply launched right into that dialogue box. Does anybody know a way to get me out of this vicious loop?
Thanks

The real question is why did it change? I'd be a bit wary that some other nvda settings had been messed about with as well, so do check. Normally this does not happen as it uses your saved settings for the updated copy.

It probably depends on whether the app module for Udora actually has this feature. I think very few people are using this client these days so it might be worth asking if it can be added and also see if others are using it.

Thanks so much to both Gene and Quenton for
pointing me to something soooo obvious I guess I really by all accounts
should've seen it myself! I did know about this NVDA+SpaceBar toggle, but
usually use the good old Enter and Escape keys, to turn off and on Browse mode
when I get to a form field, and just totally forgot about the NVDA+space
command. Thanks again for answering so graciously and resisting the
attempt to tell me what a goose I was!
Hahaha. I will check and see if that replicates
what Jaws+Zed does in jaws land.
Thanks again.

Important: StationPlaylist Studio add-on source code will be moving to GitHub
Hi everyone,
Since I took over development of StationPlaylist Studio add-on in December 2013, it has seen one of the greatest leaps in add-on development history. An add-on that provided support for announcing status changes has now become an essential companion to broadcasting with NVDA. At the time of the release of add-on 1.0, I’ve elected to use Bitbucket, a repository service used by various NVDA community add-ons that provided various features, including documentation, wiki and so on.
In 2015, a significant event in NVDA development happened: moving the screen reader source code to GitHub, a popular source code hosting service for Git repositories. In addition to moving away from a custom platform that NV Access has used for the last few years, what motivated this move was ease of collaboration (we’re seeing more pull requests to NVDA since that move) and visibility.
Coupled with this move, and in order to foster improved third-party collaboration and to set an example, I’ve decided to align my add-on development strategy with that of NV Access’s motivation to use GitHub: visibility, easier collaboration, easier way to track issues and so on. Thus, I’d like to announce that, starting today, most of the development activities for SPL add-on will happen via GitHub, with Bitbucket repository serving as a mirror of the GitHub repo and a translations commits hub. The full switchover will happen in August 2016 (even after this date, translation commits will be committed to Bitbucket due to the translations workflow infrastructure in place).
For add-on authors who are thinking about using GitHub: GitHub is similar to Bitbucket but a bit modern and more visible. Whereas you need to specify that you want issue tracking in Bitbucket, you get this for free, plus ability to use additional web hooks, dedicated release pages, project pages and more. Also, forum platforms such as Groups.IO provides GitHub integration so commits, issue comments and what not can be sent to lists that utilize this.
The new GitHub repo for SPL add-on is: https://github.com/josephsl/stationplaylist
For anyone who’d like to work with me on this add-on: feel free to fork, improve and send in pull requests.
Thank you. Cheers, Joseph

Re: switching to united states English
Ron Canazzi
Hi Marvin,

The easiest way to switch from British to American English is as follows. 1. Press the hotkey insert + control + V (desktop configuration) or the laptop equivalent to bring up the voice listing for your synthesizer. 2. from the combobox that appears, use the arrow key to highlight the American English voice. 3. Tab once to the variant combo box and use the arrow keys to highlight the variant of your choice. 4. Tab to OK and press enter or space bar. Remember to save your configuration via the NVDA menu unless it is configured to do so automatically upon exit.

Re: Newbie question, sorry :), Does NVDA have a manual disable browse mode, Jaws+Zed, type feature?
Quentin Christensen
NVDA+spacebar manually changes between browse mode and focus mode. Browse mode is the normal web reading mode, you can press "h" to move to headings, NVDA+f7 for the elements list dialog etc. Focus mode is what you use when you're filling in a form - you don't have access to the single key navigation like "h" for heading anymore but you can type into form fields. If you press NVDA+spacebar to get out of focus mode and back to browse mode, it will stay in browse mode until you press NVDA+spacebar again to change back (and vice-versa) Does that do what you need? Kind regards Quentin.

Hello Rui,
I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear... It's the Configuration Settings in the Preferences Submenu I'm referring to. It keeps telling me it's unable to save the new ones "probably" because the file is read-only. Other than that, I have no other problems using this latest version of NVDA, not yet anyway. Thank you for asking, and have a good day. aloha, Jolene.

Hi
You mean like go into foucus mode? Use the nvda key+ the spacebar, it will change it from browse mode into focus mode.

NVDA&Amazon problem
Bob J
Using
NVDA version 2016.1 Windows7 64-bit Home edition Internet Explorer version 11 Amazon.com/access When I get to that url I can review the screen using the arrow keys I can get a list of links using NVDAKey+F7 Problem I cannot activate links or buttons Question Is the following a clue to the reason for my problem? When I press NVDAKey+NumPad5, I hear Amazon.com document read only focused I don't understand why it is being identified as a, document, and; being identified as, read only. I'm guessing that "read only" probably has something to do with the reason why links and buttons are inoperable, however, I have changed several of NVDA's settings with no change in this behavior. I have looked at various settings in I E 11 and found nothing I would suspect as being influencial in this situation. BTW, jaws has no problems under these conditions and NVDA had no problems either, until recently. What am I overlooking? All helpful responses appreciated! Newbie question, sorry :), Does NVDA have a manual disable browse mode, Jaws+Zed, type feature?
Geoff Chapman <gch@...>
Hello group :).
I've just joined, to enable me to ask a quick
question up heere which I'm hoping you guys can help me with.
Written in subject line really hahaha, basically
wanna know if NVDA can replicate what Jaws does with it's Jaws+Zed/zee key
feature, where it's virtual cursor/browse mode, is totally disabled? In
situations where there are no obvious controls to enable either auto or manual
methods of swiching off browse mode, exist.
I struck a special slider type control the other
day at a website I was testing, and couldn't interact with it at all with the
keyboard, without disabling NVDA first to do so, which is obviously not optimal!
:).
Any hints/thoughts?
Thanks much.
regards
Geoff C.
