Re: Using the Thunderbird addon

Well, Now that I've gotten this quick folder addon downloaded, I can't figure out how to install the thing. I went to add manager, but couldn't figure out how to install it. I'm sureit's easy, but not for me.

Please help

Please, what is the precise name of the Thunderbird addon you mentioned?

Re: Using the Thunderbird addon

And this is an excellent example of the difference between an actual Thunderbird add-on, Quick Folder Key Navigation, and an NVDA add-on that works with Thunderbird (and Firefox), Mozilla Apps Enhancements.

I've been recommending the Quick Folder Key Navigation Thunderbird Add-On for any screen reader user of Thunderbird for years now.

Re: code factory addon for nvda

What does it matter if it is?

There are often behind the scenes negotiations between the various players in the software world who are closely allied.  It's far preferable that this actually occur.  But there's nothing you can do about it, in any case.

The end goal is to have everything working together as it should, no matter what is done to accomplish that, by the time closely intertwined software hits the street with a new release.

Re: code factory vocalizer/eloquinse addon

Don,

You, and all members, need to understand that most commercial software makers, and quite a few of the non-commercial developers of NVDA software, are not, do not, and will not, be issuing add-ons compatible with any given NVDA version to the public until and unless it is a released version.

Using either alpha, or beta, software often means you will not have a number of the add-ons you are accustomed to having.  You sometimes won't even have them when the software reaches the Release Candidate stage or until shortly after the new release is actually released as the production version.

This add-on already has a testing version in the pipeline.  It's not going to be released to the general public until NVDA 2022.1 goes live as the production version.  If you must have this add-on, do not use alpha or beta software versions.

If you need to have any specific add-on guaranteed to function with NVDA, do not use alpha or beta versions of NVDA.  I want this idea to become lodged in the craniums of each and every member of this group.  You simply cannot expect either alpha or beta versions of any given piece of software to have exactly the same overall support, particularly from third-party add-ons, as its production counterpart.  That virtually never happens.

Bookworm and Issues with it: Please take this to the Chat Subgroup

The initial question was about getting a version of Bookworm that would work with NVDA, and not knowing whether there were old versions that might not, that question falls squarely into the mission of the NVDA group.

I appreciate all that everyone has done to help each other out as well, but that doesn't change the fact that virtually every ongoing Bookwork topic is about technical support for Bookworm itself, having no direct connection of any sort to NVDA.

Please take this conversation, and those of a similar nature, to the Chat Subgroup.  One of the reasons, and from history it seems to be the primary one, for its existence is to allow extended conversations about off-topic subjects among members of this community who wish to engage in same.  How to use Bookworm and how to get Bookworm to install is not NVDA related - it's about Bookworm.

I don't recall if you said what browser you are using.  Also, since you may well run across this problem again, solving the problem now may save you trouble in the future and in the future, you may not have the option you are asking for now.

Listers,

I am really becoming frustrated trying to download The Bookworm app. No matter what I do, even asking to keep the app in the settings menu offered with the uncommonly downloaded warning, I can get nowhere.

I am just wondering if someone would please put these app versions in a public Dropbox folder so that some of us experiencing this issue could more readily get the chance to try out this program.

I guess I could just use the portable zipped file rather than the setup executable, but would really like to use the  regular setup file for installation.

Hope I'm not asking this out of turn, but if someone could please oblige, it would really be appreciated.

StartisBack application crashes with NVDA 2022 betas and works fine with NVDA 2021.3.5

Héctor Javier Benítez Corredera

Hi, I waited until today's release of NVDA 2022 Beta 4.

I use StartisBack as a replacement for the Windows menu.

Well in the beta versions of NVDA 2022 when I pull down the menu no and scroll it with arrows it tells me nothing.

Well if I switch to NVDA 2021.3.5 I have no problem, all menu items are verbalized without problem.

Well I leave you the two records of NVDA 2022 Beta 4 that gives an error and I leave also the information of the first item that only tells me selected and that belongs to the Notepad.

To say that it happens also with the disabled complements.

Re: can't navigate using arrow keys in any edit fields

Some of the members in the group have been discussing these symptoms while editing and using arrow keys and not getting any speech output from nvdA

The only work around I have heard of is to change focus to something else and then come back to the edit field and you may restore the arrow key speech output

One example was while editing in word if you experience these symptoms you could hit the ALT key and then hit it again and come back to your edit and it could be restored

I hope this helps

So I got a message from Code Factory that the NVDA developers were going to make NVDA 2022.1 compatible with the Code Factory NVDA addon. I just tried to install the NVDA 2022.1 beta 4 and it still shows that the code Factory addon is not conpatible with the beta. Could someone please explain what is really going on?
Thanks

Hi everyone, I hope you all are doing well. today I am here with a problem. I am using latest version of nvda with windows 11. I am facing totally a strange problem.
whenever i write something on any edit fields or in any other wordprocessing softwares like word and notepad, I can't use arrow keys to navigate through the characters words or anything. i tried to fix this on my own but I am not being able to.  i tried to reset nvda to its factory settings but still the problem can be seen after sometime. Ialso tried turning on  speak command keys using nvda key + 4 when it got turned on nvda announce as hover hover continuously. so is there a way to fix this problem. please help me. i tried swiping on the screen and the problem got fixed for a while but it is not permanent. hoping for your reply thanks
