Re: Is the Windows 10 (and, I'd presume, 11) Sandbox Feature Accessible?
Lukasz,
That was very helpful indeed. I doubt that anything more could be said about how one goes about gaining accessibility inside Windows Sandbox. I don't use it, and it is clearly a VM-ish sort of environment, but it behaves even more like a true VM than I had suspected. It appears you get a perfectly "clean slate" on invocation and must do any necessary setup each time. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all. ~ John F. Is the Windows 10 (and, I'd presume, 11) Sandbox Feature Accessible?
Member asked the following in the Chat Subgroup, but has received no answer: "I use Windows 10 21h2 and nvda 2021.2. How can I use windows senbox with screen reader? If I open it, the screen reader does not announce anything. I cannot even close it with a screen reader."
Since the question of whether it's accessible with NVDA, or any screen reader really, is on-topic for this group, I thought I'd post that here hoping that a definitive yes/no answer might be forthcoming. If further discussion about how one actually uses the Windows Sandbox is desired, then please continue that on the Chat Subgroup in the topic, Sandbox Feature of Windows. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all. ~ John F. Hi,
Yes, the built in plugin Reatune can do this, as can Meladine.

The only thing I like with Ableton Live is that you can transform an audio track to a midi track. Don't know if there's an equivalent plugin/reaper feature Arlene wrote:

Hello there,
The only restriction that Reaper gives without you purchasing it is a window that you can close after four seconds on first start of the software per session that basically says that Reaper is not free, and that you should purchase it because that would help them greatly. Except that, Reaper can be used without buying a license as far as I know, I am using it without a problem, and I’ve had it for more than a year.

I did give you the links so you could investigate for yourself... There's a "download" link which tells you the evaluation lasts for 60 days and a purchase link which tells you that a license costs $60 for a personal license (and $225 for a commercial license).
I don't know the restrictions of the free version, but they do encourage you to download the free version first to ensure it meets your needs. Do check it out and let us know what you think.
Kind regards
Quentin.

Hi,
Just to add to this, on the website Reaper Accessibility, you can also join an Email list called Reapers Without Peepers, and there are some very knowledgeable people on there who will get you started with Reaper.

Hi.
Well
Just got the latest windows build
21.2 19.441387 build released today.
This had the windows installer fix.
I have however noticed a small issue which isn't an issue as such because I can get round it easy enough.
Its just when I select the first item in the start menu ie hitting down arrow from search I get all apps, then you get the programs starting with punctuation like & or *, etc well that group does not read but the items in it do and can be executed.
When colapsing a group it seems I get jumpped back to the top of the list as well.
Again not a real big huge issue since I mostly search anyway but just wandered if anyone has noticed.
I have not had any other issues in fact things seem a bit more stable, but we will see what happens after I do some more shell work.

Re: Status Bars and NVDA
Martin J. Dürst <duerst@...>
I agree with Gene. In addition to his points, status bars don't work well on mobile phones, and so applications available for both PC and mobile phones tend to not have status bars.

Re: Rearrange Pinned Items
The only way I know of to rearrange icons on the taskbar prior to Windows 11 is drag and drop. And, yes, in theory you can do it with a screen reader, sans add-ons, with emulated drag and drop, but I, and many others, have found that method lacking.
Javi Dominguez has written an add-on for Drag and Drop, which others have said is very helpful. In the case of the taskbar, icon movement is constrained and they can only be moved right or left with real drag and drop, so you can use the mouse itself since the drop zone is not random. I know I've written about this in detail, but I think it was on the Windows Access for Screen Reader User's group, as this is not NVDA specific in any meaningful sense, and neither is rearranging icons on the taskbar, which is pretty much the same regardless of the screen reader in use, though add-ons/scripts can help where available. -- Brian - Windows 10, 64-Bit, Version 21H1, Build 19043 The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all. ~ John F. Re: Slight problem with Whatsapp Desktop add-on
Sim Kah Yong
HI all, After going through the troubleshooting steps, I find out more about the Whatsapp add-on as follows: 1. The keystroke Control + Shift + T only works when my focus is on the message list. 2. When I press Control + Tab or Control + Shift + Tab to move among the chat list, I do not hear the chat that is highlighted. It would be very helpful if such information can be voiced out. Once again, using the Whatsapp add-on is a joy on a whole. On 22/11/2021 11:10 pm, Brian Vogel

Rearrange Pinned Items
Hey Brian and others?
I thought as far back as Windows 7 you could pin then rearrange icons on the taskbar either with the mouse or MouseKeys. Although NVDA's GoldenCursor add-on might be helpful here, too. -- Jason Bratcher
