Re: NVDA Is Not Reading Cell Contents With Excel online and Box
Quentin Christensen
Hi Martin, I hadn't heard of Box for Office previously. I wonder if it is an update to Box or an update to Firefox which has caused the issue. Did you say Chrome is working ok except it reads blank before each cell? I haven't really got a suggestion offhand except have you written to Box to advise them of the problem? Quentin. Re: keyboard separate voice, idea?
Quentin Christensen
Hi Curtis, Late replying, but it doesn't look like anyone has. I don't specifically have an answer for you, but the main thing I'd suggest is adding the request as an issue on our issue tracker: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues - I'm not sure if anyone else has requested it before, but if they have that's where it should be as well. Kind regards Quentin. On Sun, Aug 1, 2021 at 6:17 AM Curtis Delzer <curtis@...> wrote: What if we wish a completely different voice for keyboard, or especially --

Re: Strange say-all phenomenon
darkmad88@...
Hello, Christopher!
I think, it may be caused by automatic language switching functionality of NVDA. Possibly, NVDA tries to use system default voice for reading a Word document in "Say all" mode. You can try to turn of automatic language switching in NVDA speech settings, or set default Windows voice same as you use as NVDA default voice. |

Strange say-all phenomenon
Christopher Bartlett
Running NVDA 2021.1 and using the Onecore voices. In some programs, (Microsoft Word is the most recent example I've come across,) say all is using a different voice than the one I've selected for the application-specific profile. I've gone into settings and verified that I have the voice set properly. What's weird is that NVDA is using Microsoft David, a voice I have never used for anything because I don't like it. If I scroll through the document manually, the correct voice happens. I've also experienced this problem in Qread, Is there some way to have a separate say all voice that I've forgotten about? I looked through the help yesterday, and couldn't find anything. What's going on here? Christopher BArtlett Christopher Bartlett |

In-Process 19th August
Quentin Christensen
Hi everyone, This week's In-Process is out, featuring news on NVDA 2021.2, LibLouis and eSpeak-NG, and a feature on creating application specific profiles, so you can have NVDA behave differently in Word compared to Chrome or Notepad++! Read all the info here: https://www.nvaccess.org/post/in-process-19th-august-2021/ PS: I've been out and about for a couple of weeks, I haven't yet caught up on all my emails or the group here, so please be patient if you've written to me recently and I haven't responded! I have an old asus h series board. It does come with a lot of extra software, but I only load the drivers. However I have noticed this with some of my mice, logitech, microsoft, etc and cameras and other hardware like my printers and the like. You can turn some of this off but I have never had a bad experience with it and in fact like that my hardware is loading its own drivers rather than letting windows use generic drivers. I do think there should be more control of this stuff though as malware users could write straight to the bios though a lot of this stuff can be secured against. Its another thing to check when setting up for the first time though. I have recently setup an old hp server for one of my uncles which was set to start and shut down at certain times as well as load a load of extras as it was set for a business. When it was sold x lease no one thought to clear the bios and eufi so I needed a friend who I had about to fix that but its ok now. So obviously I will have to be carefull and get people to go through eufi every time I set things up. I don't want extra junk being installed, I want control of what is loaded. Now if there is a way to control within the os what is loaded, and how its kept updated maybe I'd be happy with that. On 18/08/2021 3:05 pm, Jackie wrote:

I would try using Narrator to gain access to this utility. Sometimes, NVDA appears to have frozen. No object navigation, nothing else works.

Q-Installer?
Has anybody run across a utility that lives in the System Tray called Q-Installer? It appears to be an update manager for my motherboard, but it doesn’t seem too accessible with NVDA. Do any of you have tips or tricks for using it?
Thanks
