Try Audacity. If it's not enough, pay for Reaper. It's worth it in time if not in features, and it is worth it in features. Luke

Re: NVDA and Ardour
I have looked at ardour. The issue is gtk. Gtk is a linux library, and software made by gtk is not accessible at least not in windows. Worse to get a copy of this you need to pay for it if you want a full compiled with no limits version. Of course you can build this yourself but they simply don't tell you how to build this for windows.
I personally wouldn't bother.

How to set global shortcut keys when using NVDA and MPC-BE together
Rowen Cary
Hello,
I'm using MPC-BE to play videos, but sometimes I need to use global shortcuts to control the player. I found the option to set shortcuts in settings and set a shortcut using NVDA's table navigation, but it doesn't seem to work globally. The checkbox for Global Media Shortcuts is checked, but I think the checkbox only applies to media shortcuts on the keyboard.
Also when setting the shortcut, nvda becomes unresponsive, can I assume this is an accessibility issue with MPC-BE itself? So I have to use the mouse to complete the setting.
Thanks.

Re: NVDA - Missing OneCore Voices on New Laptop
What I'm about to propose is not NVDA-specific, because this issue is not likely NVDA-specific. I use MS David and it should "come with" under a correctly functioning Windows 10 installation in "out of the box" state. That it's not there suggests a Windows 10 corruption of some sort. And the way I'd try to solve this particular issue with missing voices is, in order:
1. Using SFC (System File Checker) and DISM (Deployment Imaging Servicing and Management) to Repair Windows 8 & 10 2. Doing a Windows 10 Repair Install or Feature Update Using the Windows 10 ISO file -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 20H2, Build 19042 Always remember others may hate you but those who hate you don't win unless you hate them. Hello, Bill. Please do the folowing:
1) Go to settings (windows key + i) then to 'time & language' & press enter. 2) From there, arrow down to 'speech' & press enter. 3) Tab to the 'add voices' button & activate. 4) Arrow down through the voice languages, press spacebar on the 1 you want, then tab to the 'add' button & activate it. Reading desktop iems.
Bill Chilcott
Hi folks. At the moment I am using the Daniel voice. Unfortunately when I
select an icon on desktop, Daniel only reads the first letter of the icon, so I don't know whether I'm on the one I want. Is there any way I can make Daniel read the whole word. Any help would be appreciated. Bill.

Re: NVDA and Ardour
Try Reaper. I can guarantee it will do more than anything you can think up to try, and it's cheap and fully accessible.

Hi Jackie. I'm afraid that didn't work. That only allows me to install one of the voices that are already in the list, but my problem is the voices I used to have are not there. So therefore I need to download the extra voices. Can you give me a step by step guide as to how to do this. Thanks for your help so far.

Either way, you should now be in the synthesizer dialog. 2) Arrow down to "1 core voices" & press enter. 3)Tab once to voice & choose the 1 you want. Make other changes as desired. Press ok twice. Please let us know if that doesn't work for you, as you may need to install the 1-core voices, & I didn't go over that here. I just chhecked this thing out.

Firstly you need to pay for the full version. Next they don't want you to compile yourself on windows just linux. Even if you could it uses gtk. Gtk has accessibility but basically you would have to take out gtk and use something else, its not worthh it, anyway reaper has allready something for it.

I have not tried it in a decade, and that was under Linux no less, but I found it very inaccessible at that time. I switched to Audacity, which is also totally free.
But the nice thing about totally free software, is that you can try it for yourself and not lose anything but time. Luke "I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. I only know what I can do." -James T. Kirk

NVDA and Ardour
Hello.
Maybe You have heard about It. I don't know, if It'll be possible to make Ardour accessible with NVDA. Ardour is a digital audio workstation software, which is opensource, like NVDA. I don't know what to do to make this software accessible for the blind. So I don't know, if It'll be good to contact with developers, who hasn't any experiences with software for the blind people. Ofcourse, there is Reaper, but Ardour is totally free and It'll be maybe sometimes good option to make Ardour for free. Thank You. Best regards from Slovakia Marco Oros
