That's what I was thinking as well. That might also somehow explain why I can't install your version of the add-on, Joseph. I am running NVDA 2018.2 and add-on version 2.1 I believe, the latest

Just FYI, I just installed the NVDA Remote Add-On just to see if anything would show up in the "Apps by Protocol" list afterward and there is no change.

In a URL like this the protocol is what is before the colan, so in this case the protocol is called NVDARemote. This then needs to be associated with a specific program in the Windows defaults panel.
