Personaly i use finereader 12, latest nvda snapshot on windows 10, and får my it works perfect.

It seems that you are willing to pay a little. And in my opinion Abbyy Finereader is the best and easyest. The advantage with it, is that you do not nead to opend the main aplication. you

I have FineReader 12 and my screen reader is NVDA, but NVDA is about unusably slow with it, so that I generally switch to Narrator when I have to use FineReader. Is this your experience also,

What do you want to pay.
Abbyy fine reader is cheapish, 200-300 bucks australian, its reasonably accessible.
Omnipage is more expensive and aparently you need jaws to use it it aparently can crash a
