Well, I have found that if I open the downloads folder and then using the ribbons click on the delete or delete permanently buttons it works as expected and does not close the folder.

Odd, do you ever use file explorer for other things (press Windows+e) and have you noticed any other issues?
Also which version of Windows are you running? I'm using Rhett latest fast insider bold

Interesting that output should appear in those channels.

Actually, I am talking about the downloads folder in the "this pc". I don't have any trouble with my browser which is also the latest update to Firefox.

Make sure speak typed characters and speak typed words are off, then try again.

Yes, Deaf Blind people would use NVDA with a Braille display. They would not use speech output, but they would read the Braille output from NVDA on their Braille display!

I have no solution, but I've experienced something similar when using mIRC. At random it will start speaking several lines of text way before the current position and it will not always

Someone else who uses a Braille display will have to absolutely confirm with regard to that. My experience with upgrading NVDA from release to release using the internal update feature

Does updating NVDA preserve setttings?
,When I update NVDA to the new release will my setings be preserved? If
it changes my Braille settings I won't be able to use my Windows machine

I am using the anniversary update, and I noticed the other day that for some reason now File hippo web site seems to think I'm running windos 8.1.

If you choose the download folder as some other folder as you can in firefox, does the same thing happen in that new folder, indeed does this behaviour happen in any folder other than the one normally
