If you use NVDA key space bar to turn it off, it shouldn't turn on again automatically. Use the same command to turn it on again. If it still turns on automatically when you are on the same page,

When you are on a filename, try right arrowing a number of times and see if you can hear the information as you move. I am not aware of any way to have that information automatically announced with

What happens if you scan that drive for errors? Check the system for malware using Windows Defender or whatever other tool you have on hand.

Well if you want to update windows you need to deactivate and reactivate anyway.
Its why I spent the extra cash and got the sapi licences last year.
