Re: OCR
You can't legally fool around and somehow extract or cause the engine to work independently of the program. If you purchase Fine Reader by itself, it is perhaps a tenth or a little more of the price

I have, on occasion, issued the copy command and it didn't work for some reason. Sometimes, this or that command doesn't work for some reason and I have to issue it twice, such as opening Computer.

Re: Purchasing Eloquence
My recollection, from when I tried the demo, is that if you open the voice settings, control NVDA v, you can up and down arrow in the voice selection list and see the various Eloquence voices.

Re: some keyboard commands
I use cut, copy and paste a lot, every day.
Sometimes the paste command does not work, and that is because I did not make sure I had the text or item selected.

Perhaps the difficulty often encountered with optical character recognition software might be the sort of scanner employed. I upgraded my computer, recently. Which involved purchasing a new scanner.
