Interestingly enough, that autohotkey script is working here under Windows 10. For some reason it doesn't work for you, so I came up with something else.

I did check, and "Handle keys from other applications" is checked.

Is Windows Sticky keys already in the picture anywhere? It allows you to hit one key at a time for keyboard shortcuts until the sequence of keys pressed gets recognized by something that's running.

EZ Keys doesn’t use the insert key for anything. But selecting Insert does not hold it down to be followed by another letter (e.g. Insert + n for the main menu).

Yes, I have tried all three. But EZ Keys is only setup for Cntr, Alt, and Shift for modifier keys. So to bring up the main NVDA menu, I tried remapping the Insert key. I can get autohotkeys to do this

If you want to release a modifier key NVDA uses, you don't have to remap it. By default, NVDA uses both inserts as modifiers, the main keyboard insert and the numpad insert. If you open the keyboard
