Hi Arlene and all,

I have enjoyed contributing and learning on the NVDA group at freelists for nearly a year. I have been using JAWS since 2001, but I am close to using NVDA as my main screen reader, and JAWS will become my backup. I love the Audio Ducking. I have waited for that technology for the longest time. I am on other lists with groups.io, so I am very excited for the NVDA group to be migrating to this new place. People will love having the NvDA group on groups.io. Good to see you here Arlene. Take care, and have a great one.

For those who have Windows 7 or 8.1, could you try pressing NVDA+T and report what it says after pressing the follow commands: Windows+D, Windows+M, Alt+TAB (Windows 8.x only)?

Hi all,

I believe there was a ticket that was raised regarding this problem. If I remember correctly, this is something NVDA has no control over (when there is no title for a window, NVDA resorts to using the name of the program).

I’ll keep an eye on this issue as we have people who were able to confirm this.

Hi Joseph/All:
    The reason for NVDA to announce Explorer in the title bar is because the desktop is integrated into File Explorer.
    I've noticed this since Windows 7.  And, continues be be the case in all newer versions of Windows.
    This is clearly not an NVDA issue since Windows has been implementing the integration of the Desktop into File Explorer in all versions of Windows since Win 7.
    I look forward to the new mailing list so that all messages can be routed by level of importance!

hi

i recently updated the windows ten app essentials nvda add-on to v16.03 and since then cortana feeds back which i can only explain as gobble-de-gook she can here me but nva constanly feeds back theis garbled sounds

Ive to uninstall the addon as its tooo annoying otherwise, if anyone has a solution or an older version of windows ten app essentials they can send me i would be very grateful

Hello:
    You should contact our fearless leader Joseph Lee!  He is the one who is developing all sorts of goodies for Windows 10.
    The more feedback you can provide to him such as the NVDA log file will better help to resolve these issues.
    Joseph has been working real hard to fill in the missing pieces in Windows 10 and NVDA!

I have Windows 7 and am using NVDA 15.3 at this time. I'm responding to a message sent by Joseph Lee below...

Okay, which Cortana mode (text or voice) are you using? If using voice, you should use Windows+C shortcut. Can yu tel me steps to reproduce this problem so I can try coming up with a fix?

hi joseph

1. i use three fingered tap to bring up cortan interface
2. i then tab to microphone button
3. i then press enter
4. i then speak

it does seem then spews out garbage most of which is gibberish, whether its trying to repeat what i said or something else i dont know

otherwise cortana works ok
