How can I check the status for my system restore? I always thought it'd be on since I haven't turned it off, but well, seems it's not the case at all.

On my side I was able to create a new table of Monopoly and also other games and NVDA told me everything I needed to know to set the table properly according to my likes.
Have you tried restarting Playroom? If so, and if it doesn't get things back to normality, how about restarting NVDA itself?
If it's still showing no results, how about restarting with add-ons disabled?
I'd suggest that you'd be using the client minimized, however I did it and even so NVDA reads all correctly.

Hi, do you know if you have the review pain disabled and Thunderbird? This pops up a brief version of the message as soon as your cursor passes over it even before it is opened. If this is disabled, I think this behavior will go away.

In NVDA, are you using the route mouse command?  If you are using the desktop layout, you use numpad insert numpad slash to route the mouse, then press numpad slash to left click.

When I tested this years ago, JAWS did the same thing.  I haven't tested recently.

I see that opening messages in a new tab appears to solve the problem and that's good.  But the problem may happen in other e-mail programs and I don't recall seeing any solution that works except the work around of using read to end.  That's what I do in Windows Live Mail and what I used to do in Outlook Express.

Re: Getting stuck with Firefox and NVDA and frames

Gene

It would be so much simpler if people have system restore on.  They could run a recent restore point from when sound was working and that would replace the possibly corrupted driver with a working copy and replace a posssibly corrupted user profile with a good one, I don't know what you are referring to when you discuss the Internet.  But this subject illustrates why I say it is almost negligence that Microsoft has System Restore off in Windows 10 by default.  I hope people with Windows 10 check the status of their system restore and turn it on if its off.  Actually, everyone who doesn't definitely know would be well advised to check the status of their System Restore since it may have been turned off by someone at some point and you given no notice.

If you are making good and frequent image backups, you may want to use those instead of system restore but it is still considerably faster and more convenient to try system restore first.

Also, blind people should have a cheap USB sound card in case their main one stops working for some reason so they don't lose access to their computer, unless they use a Braille display.

Well, I have many fixes to loss of sound.

1.  Install new drivers.

Drivers could be corrupted  or other things could be dammaged if there was an net interuption during a download.

2.  if drivers are reloaded and no sound, you may have a corrupt user profile.

Make another one, copy all your data documents, music, pictures, etc there, kill old user, reinstall dropbox and anything that is needing folders in that other user.

Note most stuff should be able to restart and configure in your new user.

Of course, the big issue is the net scenario and iff its not a virus, a failed chip or board or windows just needing a good reformat, then its probably the net in general.

Turn off router and turn it on.

Then reset your router as normal.

Update your router to the latest firmware.

Note, if on vdsl or higher and its an isp router, doing this yourself will void worenty and also your router, you will have to replace the router and the old one will be dammaged.

Request an update to your router from the isp side.

Update any wireless or other extenders and network devices that could do bad things.

Ask for a line test, note again if on anything over adsl, your vdsl and higher dataline is quite a resilient beast but you can get a test anyway.

In my case the issue with the network was the wireless card.

Again update firmware and drivers to it and check that the card still exists.

In my case windows couldn't handle the card because it litterally didn't exist both physically, since its company didn't exist anymore and the other thing to.

Also, you are looking at your computer.  You have no way of solving her problem looking at your computer since you don't have the problem to experiment with.

I don't know what you mean by starting to navigate.  Just issue the read to end command.  the same when doing a search in a browser using the screen-reader search.  If you issue read current line immediately when you hear speech after initiating a search, the extraneous material will stop being read and the intended material will be heard.

You have to help screen-readers along at times, given the complex environments in which they work and their complexity and given that they are working in a visually oriented interface.

I doubt it.  I've said before that using the read to end command stops any unwanted reading of extraneous material,  It becomes automatic once done for a short time and takes almost no time per message and it saves a lot of time when compared to just letting the unwanted material read.  I don't ever recall a solution that worked being proposed.

Re: Telegram

Hi,

It certainly does work reasonably well. It isn't optimal e.g. I'm not sure how to send voice messages but it gets the job done and can send notifications in a browser.

If you use an iPhone it can also send notifications to that, but the only way to respond is via the notification itself e.g. flicking down to reply. The main app is a joke.
