Ah thank you for the update!

Might I inquire as to the add-on, in case anyone else reports a similar thing?

In that case, the problem may not be associated with the NVDA core, and I here now request the thread to be closed.

Hi

Do the following to get there quickly.

Press the ctrl key +nvda key + the letter D this will bring up documentation formatting menu then tab down to Line indentation reporting: Off then turn it off it is a combo box and you might have it set to sounds or voice.

Then apply settings if you are happy.

I wonder if I have the same windows update?  I got one update this morning. NVDA came on saying your computer is updating do not turn off your computer.  I have Nairator say the same thing should NVDA not come on while your windows is updating.

It is worth mentioning. It happens to me too. However, I think my issue is linked to video driver issues. It happened after I restarted after updating. I am on Windows 10 1903.

I wondered if NVDA had failed to start so used a shortcut I have on my desktop to re-launch NVDA ... and NVDA duly re-started.

I looked in the NVDA preferences and somehow the option to start NVDA after Windows logon had got unchecked. I always have that checked so is that something that has somehow become unchecked iin instaling the update?

Just thought it might be worth mentioning :)

‘s happened to me when I got this new computer.  I forgot to check the box where you have NVDA start when windows does.  Another time I forgot to create a hot key for it. I thought something was broken. Before I wrote the list making a fool out of myself I checked to see if I had a hot key set for NVDA. Turned out I did not have one created.

I am wondering if the box became unchecked and then it may just be a matter of starting nvda with the alt + ctrl + letter N key. Then go back and check the box so it starts automatically again when Windows does.

Since no-one has pointed it out, you may be helpped in debugging by using Narrator. To start it, press control+windows+enter. At least, that is the shortcut on US-English keyboards.

That may at least get you some speech so you can try things.

Also, if the suggestions so far do not bear fruit, the IT classic is a complete uninstall and reinstall.   It's amazing how that sometimes "fixes everything."

I asked to find out if you tried the mouse or just used the command when usingt object navigation or in screen mode.  You need to try both if one doesn't work.

NVDA-numpad-enter via object navigation, though I honestly don't see how
it could matter. Activating a button should be activating a button, no?
I had to do that because there aren't any menus, since it's an UWP app,
and tabbing does nothing whatsoever. So as far as I can tell, it's the
*only* way to activate buttons, will outside of routing and clicking I
suppose.

If anyone happens to have NVDA's log level set to debug and is on the first run of NVDA after updating AND has this issue... Could you please send me your nvda.log and nvda-old.log?

As you know, we get a few reports of this each release, but it's always a tricky one to track down.  I thought if anyone happens to be in that situation with a detailed log, might be our best chance to see if anything is recorded.

Re: Why does NVDA not find photos on this website?

Quentin Christensen

The site looks like you need to log in before you can view that page.  But at a guess, if they've tagged the photos as alt="" then it indicates that image is purely for decoration and is not important.  NVDA ignores such images because a website might have many of them to, for instance, display a fancy border around something.

On Thu, Aug 15, 2019 at 2:42 AM Giles Turnbull <giles.turnbull@...> wrote:
Hi all,

this is only really a matter of curiosity since I couldn't see the photos even if NVDA could detect them, but it doesn't find any images with the g shortcut other than the Borrow My Doggy logo at the top of the page.

I have only just joined the Borrow My Doggy website today because I thought it might be nice to have a canine visitor for a couple of hours every so often now I'm leaving student accommodation and living in my own house.

One of the website help team told me the profile for this dog, Gigi, has several photos. Actualy it seems you have to be a member to view the dog profiles so maybe this is only a hypothetical question.

"Gigi has a few photos on the profile. He is black and tan and quite fluffy. He has a lovely little face and big brown eyes, a very handsome boy :)"

https://www.borrowmydoggy.com/dog_profile/yLk1Abbo

Is there a reason why NVDA might not think there are any graphics other than the logo at the top of the page? I'm using latest Firefox on Win10.

woof! :)

it. Is there a way to do these with NVDA? I tried getting them to use
Skype but they don't seem to want to, even though they have it. The only
thing I've found on desktop is the Microsoft Store app, and that doesn't
