Code Factory Eloquence won’t load

Ed Marquette

All:
Tell me if I should address this to Code Factory.
About a week ago, I downloaded and commenced using the Code Factory Eloquence (and Vocalizer bundle).
On Monday of this week, I bought the product and received a license code. I downloaded the program and entered the license key when prompted.
I had to adjust speed, pitch, and so forth, but all was well after that.
I shut down my laptop, took it home, and fired it up again at home, using the firm’s VPN.
Today, I get E-Speak. From the Synthesizer menu, I get “Cannot load Code Factory Synthesizer” or something very close.
This could be wrong, but it is almost as if NVDA thinks I’m still using the demo version. Any ideas?
By the way, in the NVDA menu, under Code Factory menu choice, I simply go in a circle and never get to the voice adjustments — as I did yesterday .

checking the check boxes in ccleaner

Brian Moore

Hi all.  So in the last several versions of Ccleaner, the checked state of the toggles for which items you want cleaned haven't read with NVDA.

Just reinstalled a fresh windows 10 on a machine and now I can't tell which is checked and not by default.  I usually make lots of changes particularly in the advanced section and the apps section.

Has anyone worked this out?

If so, how do you tell the state of these pretend check boxes?

Thanks.

Brian.

Re: Nvda and Free Commander

Jacob Kruger

Jarek, it will only announce the current folder/directory that the current panel is focused on/browsing.

That's what was saying yesterday with regards to the golden cursor add-on allowing me to route mouse cursor to focus object, and then check mouse coordinates, to tell if it was to the left or the right.

So, there's no specific way to get it to tell you if free commander refers to it as panel 1 or panel 2.

I don't use the program but can you move from panel to panel in any way, such as with f6?  If so, is what you see restricted to whatever panel you can move to?

Hi Quentin

I experience some issues with Outlook, that is Outlook 2016. Whether those “faults” in the log are present every time, I don’t know.

What happen is that, when I look at the mails, for a while I can down arrow and NVDA would function correct. Then suddenly, NVDA just do not respond at all. I then press ALT+TAB and then I hear the next email.

I somehow do not think that it really is a NVDA problem because very often I get the message “waiting for outlook”. Granted, my line speed is very slow, but I just am curios. If it could be fixed, it would be nice.

Regards and thanks

with the threshold branch? been merged into this release?

The alfa and threshold snapshots show whats coming up in nvda 2019.2 but
do not know until the beta if it actually made it in to the beta snap shot.

I like to add some of the features to the website so others know who
might not read the whats new section.

I guess we will find out shortly?

Re: beta snap shots showing whats new nvda 2019.1

Hi,
That's because master/alpha code hasn't been merged into beta branch. Once that happens, what's new document will be updated to point out 2019.2.
Cheers,
Joseph

Hi guys

the last couple of snapshots i have downloaded of the beta including the one from last night show the whats new as nvda 2019.1 and not the up coming nvda 2019.2.

The link to this page is https://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/snapshots/

I even get it if i click on the nvda 2019 beta file saying that.

I am sure i am not the only one who is getting this is there a reason why it is not saying what is coming up in nvda 2019.2 is it more to do with the threshold branch? been merged into this release?

Re: Nvda and Free Commander

I was specifically talking about just using the window title announcement, and, the reason I mentioned operating system, etc. is that under windows 10, it's just possible the windows 10 app essentials add-on would be sort of required to have it work a bit better.

However, like mentioned as well, I rarely even fire up free commander, so, sorry - can't be much more help.

BTW, let me double-check that we're talking about same file manager - I'm occasionally working with FreeCommander XE version 2018.0.0.770:

By the way, am also working under windows 10 64 bit, so, yes, I do have the windows 10 app essentials add-on installed, but, also don't think that's really relevant.

Not really relevant, but, just used golden cursor to tell me which panel I was in - tabbed over to one after the other, routed mouse cursor to where was focused, and then asked golden cursor add-on to tell me mouse coordinates.

But, have never really bothered - I just use NVDA key + T to get it to tell me the title of the window, which tells me which of the panels I am focused on..

I wonder if there will ever be a sound system for Free Commander implemented in Nvda.

locked Re: A short survey on using NVDA with E-Publications

Hello All,

Nimer and I are very well aware that it is difficult to get research subjects in general, let alone among the community of screen reader users.  We do, however, ask that requests to post calls for subjects be made via the Owner address, nvda+owner@nvda.groups.io, before posting same.

Here is the direct link to this survey:   Survey on NVDA Use with e-Publications

I encourage those who are so inclined to participate.  At this time this topic is locked since the correct link to the survey has now been posted twice.

Hello all

This is a request for help with a survey looking at how screen reader users access electronic publications.

I know a couple of people have already indicated that they would be willing to participate but in case anyone missed the original announcement, I am including it here.

Researchers at the University of Michigan are currently conducting a pilot study to gain some understanding of the ways in which users of screen readers such as NVDA and Jaws acquire and use E-Publications.

If you have a couple of minutes, would you be willing to participate?  There are 12 questions and the survey takes approximately 5 minutes to complete.

The reward, if you choose to accept it, is a free ebook from the University of Michigan Press - we can send you a list of possible titles if you include your email address in the box at the end of the form.

We need responses back by the end of May.

The survey is here:

Thanks in advance for your help.

Subject: [nvda] Regressing Add-ons?

I just received a message that several add-ons had updates. I am positive
these same exact add-ons got updates yesterday, and the numbers sounded like
older versions were going to be installed. If I remember right, they were:
Addon Updater, Resource Monitor, Systray List.
