Re: Voice Synthesis

Chris Chaffin

Hello,

I decided to purchase Eloquence for Windows from Code Factory instead of the NVDA add on. This installed Eloquence as a system tts voice.
I now use eloquence for both NVDA as well as for Narrator.

Here is a link for anyone interested:

Yes. Hidden divs and spans and so on, javascripted mouseover events and such. The question--which was originally asked about youtube.com, not the "accessible site" that somebody pointed out--was not why this happens, but how to get around it's inevitable happening.

The main youtube site seems quite accessible with NVDA, including even shortcut keys such as "K" to start and pause playing (although you have to use NVDA-F2 to use them, of course). Anyway The bottom line seems to be that there are at least three ways to access comments on Youtube.com with NVDA, which I should think answers the OP's question.

Resource Monitor 19.05/19.05A now available, mandatory update #addonrelease

Hi all,

Resource Monitor 19.05/19.05A is now available. Version 19.05A is for those who’ve updated to 19.05 and found the add-on didn’t work (caused by a missing file).

IMPORTANT: the new add-on release is a mandatory update for everyone using Resource Monitor add-on, as it enables compatibility with NVDA 2019.2. I’ll talk more about why this is so very soon.

Cheers,

Joseph

Hey Ollie,
Are you sure it's happening with 1809?
I ask because I read something about what you are describing but relating to 1903. 1809 was a very problematic update but nothing regarding this error as far as I know.
At any rate, now you are better off waiting for the 1903 update since this is the latest one. Now, who knows when it will hit my PC LOL

Mini version, was Microsoft Outlook with NVDA training material now available

Janet Brandly

Hello,

Thank you for making this training material available. I’ve just had to switch to Outlook after having problems with WLM. Like a lot of people out there, I’m just using it for basic home use. Would you consider making a mini version of this training material focusing only on Outlook’s email function? I would certainly purchase something like that for $10 $15.

Thank you,

Jan

Re: How to type Vietnamese on Windows?

Hi Marco
I guess you're using the built in input keyboard in Windows, which I see that no Vietnamese people use it, don't know the reason. I suggest you to download and use UniKey, which is a popular Vietnamese keyboard. Get it from https://saomaicenter.org/en/downloads/office/unikey-vietnamese-keyboard
Follow the instruction to download and install, then run it. The first combo box is to choose the character set. Press Home to go to the first item there. NVDA say something like UniCode 1 of 17. The second combo box is to choose input method. Choose whatever you're familiar, then press Enter.
Other program is Gõ Tiếng Việt, which I don't use much. You can search google for it if you want.

Is it possible to remap keys in NVDA? As I am using a laptop with a numerical keypad. I am also using the NVDA laptop layout. I want the number pad to be used as normal cursor keys, page up and page down, ETC. But NVDA is overriding this behaviour and forces the use of Object Nav. Any ideas on how to get around this? As the laptop keyboard to jump to home, end, delete is at the top of the keyboard which is quite a pain. FN left/right arrow key does not change to home and end.

I wish NVDA had the option to switch between use of Object Nav (default behaviour) and a normal keypad.

Re: How to type Vietnamese on Windows?

Hi
What Vietnamese Keyboard ,and synthesiser are you using?
Visually, Đàn tỳ bà and đàn tỳ bà will present the same, but the first one written in UniCode, and the second one written by something like Unicode see string, which I don't remember the correct information to describe. If you use Sao Mai VNVoice, then it will read incorrectly so in your Vietnamese keyboard program, the character should be set to "UniCode". Just UniCode, not UniCode along with any words after, then your Vietnamese synthesiser will read correctly.
Hope that help

Hi!
Maybe, there are some vietnamese people here.
I have some questions to You. How do You write vietnamese letters with diacritics on Windows 10?
Because It shows me those diacritics separately from letters and not, as letters together with diacritics.
For example, let me write here name of one of one vietnamese instrument.
Original name of this instrument is
Đàn tỳ bà
But, when I have try to write this in vietnamese keyboard, It looks, like this:
đàn tỳ bà
Please, what mistake I do?
Thank You.

Hi you cannot do it this way, he has either to do it via the web site or with an email to the subscribe address, then reply himself to the email that comes back.
Otherwise people could sign everyone up without their consent and that could be very annoying!

I'm sure somebody can tell you the exact syntax of the email, in my view it should be in the footer by default it is in many lists I use.

No its a trade off and if you use Pico, then be aware that the package driver may fall over when nvda is made in Python 3 or so I'm led to believe.
If you can stand it try Espeak and look at all the variants or even create your own. I made the Quincy voice and yes, its robotic but not so ear bending as the main defaults are, but those were made as a compromise for sounding understandable for many languages out of the box, so to speak.
