I agree. That's what one would say when asking someone to click on something that would install a virus on a system.

And what, prey tell, would clicking that link bring me to? An unknown link for a program I have never heard of, that nobody else is saying anything about?

Sorry, but at least a general description, even if copy pasted from the website, would be very helpful in an instance like this. I don't just click links willy nilly, regardless where they may originate.

LOL, without a description to want me to click on it, no go. There needs to be some description, even a headline style one liner. Since there isn't, I've already spent too much time on this subject.

Besides, if not NVDA related, this should have been posted to chat in the first place, not here.

Re: Zoomtext and nvda

Desert Moon

Hello Adrian,

I use ZoomText 10.1 at work and soon will be upgrading. ZoomText 11 is a legacy product. The latest version is 2019.

In the Desktop Layout Mode, the main modifier key is Caps Lock. And in the Laptop Layout Mode, the modifier keys are Caps Lock + Alt.

For your interest, here are some ZoomText Hotkey Commands that every user should know

Zoom In / Out    Caps Lock + Up / Down

Zoom to 1x (toggle)        Caps Lock + Enter

Enhance Colors On/Off   Caps Lock + C

Show User Interface       Caps Lock + Ctrl + U

ZoomText On/Off            Caps Lock + Ctrl + Enter

Launch AppReader         Caps Lock + Alt + A

Voice Faster / Slower     Caps Lock + Alt + Up / Down

Voice On/Off      Caps Lock + Alt + Enter

Quiet    Ctrl

If you have Windows 10, I don’ think you need ZoomText. Most of its functions can be achieved with the accessibility features native to Windows 10 and NVDA.

Re: using nvda to cancel Kindle magazine subscriptions

Gene

This thread raises the question about whether a feature should be added to NVDA while using browse mode or forms mode.  If you are filling out a form, it might be a useful feature to be able to have new material that comes up in response to an action taken automatically read.  It appears, from comments in this thread, that new material comes up in response to something the user does and it is not in the form or not in a place the user would come across it if just going down the form.  If it were read, the user would be alerted to look elsewhere for the new material.

I'm not sure this feature should be on by default but it might be useful and save people trouble.

Thank you, Richard. That did the trick. Intuitive it is not, but it is
nice to be able to do this without having to ask my sighted husband.
It'd be cool if focus could be placed on that confirmation box after you

I used MIRC very successfully with JAWS until recently; I think it would work well with NVDA too, but you’d probably want to use screen review a lot.

Re: A web site with a double life

I'm not fond of mobile-optimized websites.
The reason is most of the time I'm using my laptop and almost never use my smartphone or any other mobile device to really browse through something.
And, while using a mobile-optimized website on a mobile can be excellent, on the other hand it can be a real hell to use the same website on the computer, because of how things are organized on the screen on a mobile-optimized website.
After all, it's all about preference :)

Re: reviewing a web page

Hi,
Same case of the guy asking about breadcrumb yesterday, if it wasn't you, I actually don't remember :)
"inserted" is an HTML tag which indicates that something was deleted and some other thing is on the place of the old one now.
Suppose you have an original price for something but this thing is with an off for a limited time. You may well want use the "inserted" HTML tag to delete the price and replace it with the new one.
Actually, most of the time it's a combo of two tags, one to delete the old and the other to insert the new content.
I forgot what the other tag is so you may google it if you want more info.
And, while it may be useless for some people, no, as far as I know, there's no way of turning such announcement off using NVDA.

Re: A web site with a double life

Are you saying you want an address to subscribe to a podcast?  I see, using an older version of Chrome, specific episodes linked to, such as a link to Episode 72 of a podcast after a dewscription of it.  Where are links to subscribe found when you look using another platform?  At this point we have far too little information to say that it is at all likely the site is tailoring content.  It may just be that this or that browser is showing code on the page that other browsers don't.

Here is the direct link to episode 72 of a podcast.  I used to copy shortcut feature in Chrome, the same as copy link location in Firefox.  Is the link to the general podcast series based on this link?

In addition to what you mentioned above, geography can also be a factor in
determining what site you "get" to view. Some redirect according to IP
address. I think Amazon used to do this, though it doesn't seem to anymore
for amazon.com and amazon.ca.
