Yes, it's a bit like NVDA, but in my opinion it doesn't work as smoothly.

It has improved significantly over the last few years and, I must say, I finally understood how Orca works when I started using NVDA in 2009...

As many other people have already mentioned, it seems there's not any plan, for now ou the future, to make NVDA a screen reader to a smartphone.
It actually would be quite nice, though, and I'd be the first to grab it if it ever existed.
Considering how powerful NVDA can be on the Windows platform, if such power could be applied on a smartphone, it would be wonderful!
But unfortunately, I don't see it happening :(

Right now, Talkback and Voiceover do support external keyboard, but it would be so much more convenient if there could be an NVDA application for mobile phones with similar commands as that of a PC. What do you guys think?

How many things you've seen happen that you wouldn't have ever dreamt of, and now they're here?

NVDA itself is one of them, isn't it?

Hello,

It doesn't.

when I tried it a few months ago, it looked very accessible at first glance, but then I discovered that, although I could read teh prices of all items, I couldn't read what the prices were for. In other words, it reads the prices, but not the products... Not very useful!

I meant to try Aliexpress, but never got around to do so.

Hi guys

Just to let you know the web site has come back on line it seemed it was a very series crash on there end. it may go up and down while they repopulate all the web sites on that server.

Hopefully nothing like this happens again for a very long long  ..... time again.

It is dated the 23rd of September so is the last update that was drop boxed to the list.

Hi

The website has been zipped you will need a program to unzip it. You can also do it with windows explorer but may be better to make a folder then put the files into it that is easy to find. Then it is a matter of just going to the index file with in the folder and pressing the enter key on it and use it like normal. As long as people have internet access they should be able to access audio files  etc.

There may be another tutorial been added on later this week so will update the link to the drop box account then.

I will let people know then.

The drop box link is https://www.dropbox.com/s/fh0ke305t6afduw/Accessibility%20Central%20Website.zip?dl=0

Hi guys

As you probably have noticed Accessibilitycentral.net has not be accessible and the following message comes up when you try to access one of the pages Website is temporarily down due to file system failure. Recovery is in progress, please check back later. Sorry for inconveniences

.

The people we host with were alerted when i first noticed it and it has to be fixed on there end. I do not know when it will be back up but hopefully it is ASAP.

I guess this is maybe what you get some times when you host with a free provider? with no adds and only have to pay for the domain name.

It sounds pretty serious like the server hard drive took a dive?

If any one wants to access the material on it at present I can zip it up and drop box it until it comes back on line.

This will only be the website files not the audio files as every one has access to the internet mostly.

You will then need to unzip it and put it into a folder with the files. Then it is a matter of just accessing the index file for the website.

I might again even look at other options for hosting.

Let us know and can drop box to the list.

Re: Zoomtext and nvda

Desert Moon

Hello Adrian,

Windows 7 does not offer full screen magnification. If this is what you need, do explore ZoomText 2019.You can download it from:

https://support.freedomscientific.com/Downloads/ZoomText

It runs in a 40-minute demo mode. Not portable. That version is sold in a USB stick.

Windows 10 offers some high contrast modes and colour filters. Unless you need a peculiar colour scheme, I do not see why you need ZoomText. When it comes to screen reading, NVDA gives you much more than ZoomText can.

Press Alt+N for the new option, then choose the option for the current application. Then, configure the layout and other settings as needed. Save the settings with Control+NVDA+C to be on the safe side. And, that's it.

If anyone tries it on Android, I'd love to know if it works better there.

Wow! Since when did you become our list moderator? Ever heard of that thing called the delete key? It's called use it if you don't like reading about certain topics--or are you afraid it'll fall off of your keyboard? I won't say anything more.

I used MIRC very successfully with JAWS until recently; I think it would work well with NVDA too, but you’d probably want to use screen review a lot.

IRC! I can't tell you how much time I haven't heard of it :)

Well I don't know of any accessible client. Last time I used it, quite a while back, I've used a basic client developed by brazilian folks for another program called DOSVOX. I doubt anyone on this list will know about this program, by the way.

        Hi all,

I'm just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for an irc client
that works with NVDA? I was using chatzilla for the longest time, and
liked how I could review the output window as well.

I tried mirc, however found that reviewing output with object nav
(assuming there's not a more affective way to do it) often didn't
contain all the text, and missed the last few lines.

Thanks for any help,
