Hi! I did check the archives, but didn’t find anything. I am going to have to do a clean install of windows 10 so the installer version I have is going to be erased. I have a portable version of NVDA on  a thumb drive. After the  clean install is finished, I would like to make a installer version from the portable so all my settings and add ons are saved. How do I make a installer version of NVDA from a portable version? Thanks!

You can also just go, nvda+n, t, i.
This is install NVDA. Which will allow the portable version to be installed.

Re: How do I create a installer version of NVDA from a portable version?

I'd just save the NVDA Appdata folder for your user account and copy it over what a fresh install of NVDA puts there.

C:\Users\{your identifier}\Appdata\Roaming\nvda

That's the folder that contains all of your customizations to NVDA whether it be settings, add-ons, etc.

Thanks All. I am looking for multitrack editing capabilities, and am
somewhat familiar with Reaper, though a friend mentioned MixPad so I was
having a look at it as an alternative.

I looked at it very briefly awhile ago out of curiosity. I still have it
on one of my machines and unless others discuss Wave Pad, I'll write a
little about it after I look at it and play with it a little again to
refresh my memory. This may be a case where screen review, object
navigation, or both, are necessary to get good access to the program.

Aside from that, are there certain specific things you want to do with the
programs? If so, telling us what they are may result in discussions of
the best programs to do those specific things. the programs you are
asking about may be the best or there may be better ones even if
accessibility or usability is good for all of them.

I don't use either of those, but I do use the zulu dj software.
For basic stuff it is accessible, but the buttons are not labeled and you
cant speed up and slow down pitch with keyboard.
But for basic dj'ing and crossfading and cuing it works great.
Hope this helps

either or both for NVDA users.

Re: Pressing arrow keys doesn't move the curser in Microsoft Office Excel

Quentin Christensen

if it's moving through the text in the current cell when you arrow rather than changing cells, then you are in cell edit mode.  Normally you can arrow to tab between cells.  If you press F2, you will go into edit mode so you can edit the contents of a cell (without simply overwriting it).

is that what you are encountering?

If so, and if you'd like to improve your skills with Excel, NV Access has training material for using Excel with NVDA: https://www.nvaccess.org/product/microsoft-excel-training-for-nvda-ebook/

Kind regards

Quentin.

When I press arrow keys in focus mode, it reads the current cell value and doesn't move the curser. I can't select cells by pressing shift+arrow keys.
I'm using Win10/NVDA 2019.2 and Microsoft Office 2019, but I had this problem with older versions of these applications in Win7 too.
It seems that this problem occurs without any changes in settings once in a while and disappears automatically!

Edited

You are using a way-out-of-support version of NVDA in 2019.2, so please update to either 2020.3, or even better 2020.4RC1, to see if the issue still occurs.

If it does, then see my post The Most Basic Troubleshooting Steps for Suspected NVDA Issues, and follow those, in order, to see if any one of the three causes the problem to cease.

This would almost certainly end up being handled by an add-on.

Docs Comments are not standard web elements, which is what the elements list is about, but an application specific feature that occurs when using a web-based application.

I can find no open ticket regarding this specific aspect of Google Docs.

Does JAWS [sic] just not display the leader?
I'm assuming you mean NVDA. No, the leader is not spoken, as it is purely visual in nature. If you feel that this is an issue, I suggest searching to see if there is already an issue filed, and, if not, filing an issue on the NVDA GitHub.

displaying the leader in table of contents

Ann Byrne

In word 2016 I have set tab stops for a table of contents--6 inches, right aligned, .... as the leader. When I fill in information the titles align correctly, the page numbers align, but there are no little dot dot dots between the title and the beautifully aligned page number. Does JAWS just not display the leader? do I need to do something funky with the Word 2016 settings besides selecting the leader?

Thx,

Ann
