And, based on reports earlier this afternoon, Microsoft has officially pulled the update entirely until it can be fixed. Thank heaven. This one has been an unmitigated disaster.

Eventually when its released there will be a few lingering issues easily fixed by a patch. What I don't understand is why ms even gave us users the option to roleout if we wanted to immediately on launch instead of just waiting another build. For me I am happy, but my 2 boxes never had the issue with files. I can confirm that the store does not update statuses right on downloads and some ms support apps don't work right but at least they work, there are now reports of edge and a few other things not connecting. For me I am happy I am updated and that it worked without a problem. In fact the system performance is faster. I have noticed that windows disk cleanup detects I have files in downloads when I know full well on a system taht I have emptied that folder so who knows. Again you can't check everything, the issue of file deleting may never have come up till the final build which begs the question what caused it if no one else has the issue on insider testing. As for the size, the insider program is openended so as many users can join it. Its not an every user has this issue again. But the verge quotes that the latest quality of updates has slipped a bit. And to be honest ms have made a lot of what I would term small silly mistakes or never thought about a few things they continue to generally jump along. The fact that they have simply pulled the update and left role out stopped and left that openended when that will actually come back probably means they never saw that coming either.

No, you misunderstood. You are not restricted to
having to send it to a flashdrive. that is its main purpose but it will allow
you to upgrade right from your download folder of your C drive.

I would use that, but my custom built computer comes with a flash drive that is not accessible that I have to use as it comes with the drivers for my machine etc. Take care

It may be the most tested but it is also a complex
program and, it is clear that the testing, no matter how much is done, is
inadequate for the number and/or speed at which changes are introduced.
Microsoft needs to admit and fix bugs. its
future depends on it. That's very clearly in its self-interest. What
isn't in its self-interest is to have full upgrades of Windows that cause
problems every six months and some of them are serious.
there appears to me to be growing pressure from the
business sector to reduce the number of full upgrades. I follow this very
casually and others may have more information about whether I am right.
We'll see what happens.

Often if your card has expired, yet your new card is on their account at Paypal you have to go in and make the new one default as some banks systems are so bloomin thick they never ask to try the other card. What I did was delete the old one making the current one default, by default, if you get my drift. Other things can upset it. Sometimes you can tie it to an account without a card but have a transaction limit of some sort set. This can cause problems as well. Very handy for stopping fraud of course, but if your account is not using an overdraft and the credit limit is small, it tends to just not know what to do. I guess it is dangerous to use a debit cared, as credit cards afford some protection, but I've not been hacked yet, and the banks do tend to put the money back in a goodwill gesture so far if people I talk to are anything to go by. But, this is all academic. It has to be something wrong with the set up that gives such errors, and only trying to find which bit is the solution, from what I've read here, its usually the bank. Some banks will not agree till you reply to an email they send you and click a link in the account. That is a bit paranoid unless you are talking about thousands of pounds or dollars, in my view and I have found my bank normally calls me if their algorithm spots something out of the ordinary. We're in the USA, and she describes the situation as being that no matter how many times she tried to get the donation currency set to USD and enter her credit card information things kept reverting back to Australian dollars and starting the whole "fill in the form" process again. She's been a screen reader user since there were screen readers, and knows NVDA inside and out. I thought I'd mention this here as it would be a shame if this were not an isolated incident and others who wish to donate were being stymied in doing so. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1803, Build 17134 The psychology of adultery has been falsified by conventional morals, which assume, in monogamous countries, that attraction to one person cannot co-exist with a serious affection for another. I am afraid it is already here and not 3 years away at least here in the UK I found last night when I went to my audible Library the download facility now takes you to a so called “help” page which only gives the option of using Audible iOS, Android, Echo etc and Windows 10. There is an apparent option to use iTunes but if you follow the help on that it states you need the Audible app installed. As it is now imposible to download directly from the website this is very bad news indeed. I tried to open a “chat”with Audible support but after stating the problem they did not respond at all- I waited for 30 minutes for any acknowledgement. So for me as of last night Audible appears inaccessible for blind users of Windows and also for devices like the victor Reader Stream/Trek and Pocket Plextalk which could until last week support the playing of Audible books. As I am now blocked from accessing something like 60 books that I have paid for over the years I am not a happy customer. David Griffith

I have got Audible downloading again but oddly I have had to turn software verification on to achieve this. Below is a thread copied which describes this. Dear Henry This is very useful. Oddly I already had the recommended settings as described in your email. However as an experiment I turned software verification on and the necessary download started without problem. So in my case taking the entirely opposite approach to software verification worked. I don’t know if something has changed on the website. I would not have known to look here without your email though. So thanks again. Hi David I have also encountered this problem and audible sent me the following fix: "Hello Henry , Thank you for contacting Audible! There is a software verification setting within your “Account Details” page, which needs to be turned off. Once turned off, you should be able to download your Audible book. Below we have included the steps on how to turn off this software verification: 1. Please log into your Audible account. 2. Hover your mouse over "Hi, henry !" and click on "Account Details". 3. Click on "Update Settings" tab on the left-hand side of the page. 4. Scroll down the page and you will see Software Verification. Please be sure to turn this off. 5. Please hover your mouse over "Library" located on the top of the page and select the subtab"Library", http://www.audible.co.uk/lib, and download your audiobook title from there.
