Re: TW BLUE was Re: [nvda] twitter?

Wow something new learned! I’ve been using TwBlue several years, and until the below message was posted, I never knew how to look at conversations!

To see replies to a tweet, the Win+Alt+C creates a buffer with all of the conversation in it – the buffer is placed immediately to the left of the home buffer so you just need to use the Win+Alt+Left Arrow to navigate to it…assuming you’re using the Windows 10 default keyboard that is.

I don’t know of a way to view the whole conversation from a retweet though!

For both of your questions I'd give the same answer. I'm not aware of any way to see a thread (nor replies to a specific tweet) using TWBlue.
It'd be a very nice feature, though, what makes me consider talking to the guy programing it for now and see if he'd accept our suggestions.

Two questions on TW-Blue.

How does one access a thread? Say if someone retweets a thread, I can’t figure out how to go to it. The most I can do is search for that person’s user handle, go to their timeline and hunt for it there, but even then, it’s not really a thread as much as going down their timeline.

The second question is how do you view replies to a tweet? I know there’s a view conversation and that’ll place the selected tweet in the search listview tree at the bottom, but even then, there’s really nothing there. I can open the tweet with the shift+control+V command, but that just shows the tweet info. No replies.

I’ve also been thinking of giving OpenTween a try, but thought I’d try to figure out these pretty basic features in TW_Blue first.

I'd suggest updating TW Blue because certain API calls no longer work from Twitter because Twitter has shut them down and did a bunch of other things to put a strangle hold on their API. If you don't update TW Blue I fear you will start to have countless bugs. Also, TW Blue is developed by blind people so it will always remain accessible to NVDA and other screen readers. What I've been trying to figure out, partly for an investigative article and partly because I am curious, is, why window eyes was not released as open source after the company was bought out. Anyway, upgrade your TW Blue.

Re: NVDA not giving accurate feedback

Jonathan COHN

Is there a good discussion between the difference of screen navigation and object navigation? Is this what nvda-V toggles? There are some parts of NVDA that I just try different options until one works and I have not learned a consistent efficient way to use. That being said, NVDA now and for the foreseeable  future for me will be the least used of the screen readers I use on a daily basis.

Thanks,

Jonathan

As the subject states I'm having trouble updating this add-on. I'm attempting to update the add-on using the Add-on Updater. I will paste in my log to see if anyone has any ideas. I switched to debugging so that hopefully this will provide enough information. I'm only pasting in the part of the log from where I run the Add-on Updater. If more information is required I can paste the entire log if necessary.

Thanks for the details.

Good to know that the addon still needs to be installed seperately,
looking forward to see it integrated into the NVDA core in future. Also
thanks a lot for the details about the issues regarding the addon.

Cheers,

Hi,

is the functionality of the Enhanced Aria addon already included in
the
NVDA
core and if not, is it planed to do so?

I am wondering if the addon is still needed with NVDA 2018.4.1.

Cheers,

Schoepp

Re: audio recorder with screen reader accessibility:

Shame this wasn't an open source project. I use Audacity to record my voice and sound output because virtual recorder doesn't fully work in the latest windows 10. There's a ongoing bug where audio is constantly out of sync when trying to record from both the sound card and Microphone. Hopeful someone will release an open source version of a similar program. He was a very good programmer and he will be missed.

Re: Norwegian 8 dot braille table used by nvda

Lars Bjørndal <lars@...>

Thank you. I plan to let the table no-no-comp8.ctb contain only the 256 possible braille patterns whith unique character to each, and put all other characters in the no-no-8dot.utb. So please go on with the change.

Thaks

Lars

I simply suggested swapping to the new Braille table, but please advise
if Joseph's second option of merging the two tables has merit.

Hi,
Ah, this is similar to Unified English Braille table migration a few
years
back.
There are two options I can think of:
1. Replace the old one with the new table (the original suggestion).
2. Combine the tables together somehow - that is, merge the old
table into
the new one, keeping the file name the same.

Joseph

The no-no-comp8.ctb, which are used by NVDA today, was created based
on the
old ANSI character set, and so it lacks many unicode characters,
although
some very widly used was added after NVDA started to use the table.
When the
Norwegian library for braille and audio did a big job with all
Norwegian
tables, they created a table with lots of additions to the computer
braille,
and put that stuf in a separate file called no-no-8dot.utb.
Thanks a lot for creating the issue.

Enhanced Aria addon

Christian Schoepplein

Hi,

is the functionality of the Enhanced Aria addon already included in the NVDA core and if not, is it planed to do so?

I am wondering if the addon is still needed with NVDA 2018.4.1.

Cheers,

Schoepp

The program is available for the general public but Carlos modified it.  I'm not sure if he made it more accessible or if it is a command line program and he added a Windows interface.

it is a part of windows 10. to add a virtual desktop press control+winkey+d. To move between desktops press control winkey left or right arrow.

Hi all. I was thinking of making a few desktops, say one for games and one for audio or whatever. I think I remember something about multiple desktops coming up somewhere, maybe in an addon, but I have no idea what it was. So can we use them? If so, how do we make one, name it, and switch between desktops? I assume once you have it made it works like everything else and you send new shortcuts to the current desktop, or cut and paste from one desktop to the other if you have shortcuts that already exist and you want to move them. I guess we can probably use them but it's just something I've never looked into. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, if you are using Windows 10 when you hear the notification come up simply do the following colon hold down Windows key + shift + press v as in Victor and you will go to the notification and you can click on it or dismiss it David more

Yes well, I had a similar thing a while back on a laserprinter driver on windows 7 again an HP piece of hardware.
I just stopped it from installing as everything worked fine.
I have never seen it again.

Hi.

I am not sure if this is multi os or not but maybe its only win10.

I got an update for hp hid devices today that I thought I allready installed.

The update will not install, and further more simply tries to install again and again.

I origionally thought that it was a bios issue and since there was an update for my new workstation I loaded it.

Its happening on my aunt's workstation.

Now looking at the software distribution folder its an update to the wireless button keyboard driver which isn't really important that it install.

Now since its happened on 2 hp units its probably a ms detection issue or a windows hardware bug the sysdev page doesn't show so who knows when I search for it so maybe its an issue that will be solved.

For now

https://support.microsoft.com/en-nz/help/4026726/windows-hide-windows-updates-or-driver-updates

This link has a troubleshooter that will hide or show updates and is a 45kb file, such a pitty this is not part of windows update anymore.

Anyway if You get drivers like this that just don't want to load you can hide them so they don't try to install.

And they can stay hidden to till you need to reinstall windows again.

Then you hide them again.

I'd usually complain to ms on this issue but its just not that important a driver.

Hp has the latest drivers which I have installed and all needs to be done is to have the effected thing hide so it doesn't install loop every update check.

I wouldn't take this approach with every update but for this one it works, also if an update breaks you can hide it if you want.

I wouldn't hide updates that are critical but this will solve it for us.

Now that update may appear again hopefully when ms fixes it later which they probably will do in the coming days.

I got this update earlier in the month and it came from last year at the end of it so who knows why its being stupid now.

I am sure its a detection issue, probably server side, and will be fixed sooner or later, there will not be any documented issue as with all driver updates unless its really so bad it needs it but there we go.
