I remember trying this one several years ago. It works, but it is very full of bugs and does several weird things. The person who made it seems to have disappeared and guess isn't interested in developing it much further.  Too bad. I have an old Dec Talk Express that is originally a serial device, but I have a serial to USB adapter. It is recognized and says it is working properly so there's nothing I can do about it here.

I'm afraid I'm not reproducing this here, either, at least not on the groups.io page for this message. After reading the message, I was able to press Tab to get to the Reply button, then Tab a few more times to get to the edit field where I'm now typing my reply. However, I noticed earlier while proofing a post on my blog at https://abbiescorner.wordpress.com, when I pressed Tab within the post, it took me to the top of the post. I updated my NVDA just yesterday, so will see what develops.

Hi Janet,

We'll need a bit more information to help you.  One of the most common reasons is that when you run the installer, it brings up a User Account Control (UAC) dialog.  The dialog warns that the program wants to make changes to your PC and you must accept it to continue.  That's a standard Windows warning when you install any software, but occasionally it appears behind other windows.  If the program is installing (the progress bar is beeping) but you haven't answered that dialog yet, try using ALT+TAB to find it (if it doesn't appear on top of everything, it often appears at the back, as in the last window in the list when you ALT+TAB).  If you don't respond to it within about 20 seconds, it will close and the install will fail.

Just to clarify for anyone reading that, I think what Kelby meant was NVDA+R to run OCR, since WINDOWS+R brings up a run dialog to type a command to run.

Just getting back to say that you can also navigate through the emojis with up/down arrow. The difference is that doing it this way you'll pass through many emojis at once, I don't know how much exactly.

I did have someone else with a very similar issue, and after they restarted the computer it was all working again.  So, a reminder to please restart the computer after installing or updating any software, including NVDA.

and the problem and then cut and paste the contents of the notepad to the
bottom of the message.
 Before doing this I would advise that you go to nvda settings and general

I hope this makes sense.
 If somebody here  can get a good look and duplicate the issue then fine, if
not then you might have some odd windows issue.

If nobody can resolve it you may need to get an account on github web site
and raise a new issue for it.
 However I'd suggest trying the new  release version if you have not
already. also try to test with all add ons disabled firs as some odd things
can happen if one is old or misbehaving for whatever reason.

It does not matter.

I have 32 bit, if you have more than 4gb ram and you probably do 64 is fine 64 is only for large files but you can install it.

Your licence key will probably work on both.

I don't know if this is a problem that NVDA can solve, but whether it is or not, there are edit fields on some web sites where you need to write the comment and then paste it in.  I just worked with one a day or two ago.  Every letter appeared to be on its own line.  When the comment was in the edit field, it read correctly in browse mode but not when browse mode was off.  It isn't just this site and it is necessary to know this workaround.
