ok, in firefox, something which is say 140 dollars and 21 cents is     140.21

This is fine, in some places on the net they use the coma and not the full stop char.

now 140,21 in waterfox/firefox is read out as you would expect.

in chrome its 14021.

So I have often found things costing 500000 or something rediculous when they can be 50.00 or 500.00.

This seems to be a bit of an issue.

Now granted its only 1 site, but its a site I use a lot.

I am not sure if there is a plugin to treat in certain cases the coma being used as a deciman point where numbers are concerned being converted to a point.

Of course it goes without saying that this is only on displayed items.

When you buy one its converted normally, go figure.

Its my only gripe with chromium brousers.

To be honest, what I may have to do, is run each group of sites in its own session, followed by forums that have trouble in a multitabbed environment.

Thats fine but to be honest, even if this doesn't work, I have had to turn off hardware exceleration, and autoupdates just to get things not to crash.

If things continue to crash, I will try turning off image auto load and finally javascript but its getting to the point that I may have to abandon the entire mozilla family.

I'd really like a brouser I can use with a no frill interface.

That is, something that just brouses, has things like ublock, secured https, maybe a privacy manager and sound, or if I can't have that, something like internet explorer but not be internet explorer.

I do like youtube videos so it would need to process some of these streaming things but heck, if I had a simple brouser to brouse the net and something else for other things, I am willing to take it.

Well, I am really close to swearing now reading what you just told me.

I have done a little more, adding waterfox to ccleaner and turning off
hardware exceleration.

I have also turned off container tabs and autoupdates but at this point
I am pritty close to bailing.

As for google, my issue is, well go to www.pbtech.co.nz and look at how
the prices for things are set.

Look how chromium based brousers say them, look at how waterfox/ firefox
say them.

Now you will understand why I don't care about leaving waterfox or whatever.

Is there such a thing as a brouser with a classic interface I can use or
do I have to soldier on with what I have.

I can do it, I guess but really its really bad.

Since firefox and waterfox share some features well that makes sence.
I have downgraded to 2020.8.1, but even in the 08x series the system
has been running hot with the brouser active so there could be a leak
going on.
I like classic waterfox because of its uncluttered nature, but if the
makers of this thing refuse to acknowledge that its a problem on their
end, then I am going to have to abandon noscript 5, and try to use
chrome, edge, brave or something.
I'd ideally like a firefox like classic brouser.
What I may have to do is switch back and fforth.

Taking into account that I have at least 1 site I use for work which

update caused some issues, and while that has sorted out some stuff,
when this goes it turns nvda into junk.
Mostly narator will come up file and closing the program works fine
but the last time this happened this morning it took out part of nvda
keyboard and I had to reboot nvda manually and then restart windows.
I have struggled through this for the last 3 days now since the update
and am just about through.

Absolutely.  Sometimes, it may be easier to simply ask the question here on the list.  We’ve got an armada of knowledgeable folks up here that will gladly help you out. What exactly are you looking to learn, That is the question on the net? Are you transitioning from Jaws to NVDA?  Are you trying to figure out how do the different browsers function with NVDA?  But the answers will come once you ask us questions about what it is you want to learn.  Hopefully this makes sense, it’s late here in the east.

I am not familiar with the book you are discussing.

Cathy Anne Murtha is a very well regarded instructor.  I did a search of her
web site for Internet Explorer and here is a link to the results.

It appears she only has material for the Internet using JAWS but browsing
will be almost identical.
Since I don't know what you want to learn, you might wish to contact her and
ask if the book deals with the topics you want to learn.

Also, since I don't know what you want to learn, I don't know if a book is
the best way to proceed.  You might be able to learn what you want by asking
questions here or on the chat list, whichever is appropriate for what you
want to learn.  Or one or two hours of personal instruction might be a good
approach.

If you give us an idea of what you want to learn, you may get better help
for your specific needs.

I use it with jaws but nvda should work as well.
It is very inexpensive and has a thirty day trial.
I have successfully backed up my pc for about four years now and even used it to backup and restore to a new hard drive with no trouble.

         If you use either of the formats I previously mentioned, whether or not the area code is enclosed in parentheses or not, you can use the instructions that follow.  I am going to give the regular expression (regex) you will want to use first and the replacement string right afterward before giving the step-by-step instructions that would be used to do this for any regular expression and replacement.  You begin copying the regex with the opening backslash and stop at the end of the line.  For the replacement, if you do not want NVDA to say, "area code," before the first three digits then you can omit those two words and start copying at the opening backslash until the end of the line.

Adding a Regular Expression match to the Default Dictionary
1. Hit NVDA+N,P,D,D   NVDA Main Menu, Preferences, Speech dictionaries, Default Dictionary
2. Hit ALT+A to activate the Add Button or navigate to it and activate it.
3. In the dialog that appears, paste or enter a regular expression in the Pattern edit box.
4. Paste or enter the replacement you want to hear in the Replacement edit box.  If you're using a capturing regular expression this may be a sequence of backslashes followed by the numbers of the capture groups you're using.
5. The Comment edit box should either have a comment that helps you to remember the purpose of this dictionary entry, which is preferable, or be left blank.
6. Leave the Case Sensitive checkbox unchecked.
7. The Type radio button should be set to Regular Expression.
8. Activate the OK button

I am not familiar with the book you are discussing.

Cathy Anne Murtha is a very well regarded instructor. I did a search of her web site for Internet Explorer and here is a link to the results.

It appears she only has material for the Internet using JAWS but browsing will be almost identical.
Since I don't know what you want to learn, you might wish to contact her and ask if the book deals with the topics you want to learn.

Also, since I don't know what you want to learn, I don't know if a book is the best way to proceed. You might be able to learn what you want by asking questions here or on the chat list, whichever is appropriate for what you want to learn. Or one or two hours of personal instruction might be a good approach.

If you give us an idea of what you want to learn, you may get better help for your specific needs.

Of course, it may be something else. I don't have the technical knowledge to do more than guess.

Aside from that, I don't see anything cluttered about the Chrome interface. Browsing is browsing when you are using Browse mode or the Virtual PC Cursor, different names for the same thing. The interface is different but the only place where I find that an annoyance is when working with history. and I still haven't found a way to go back more than about a day in Chrome history. I wonder if there is some sort of inaccessible scroll icon.

Well not sure about pot, but yeah, itunes has some good points.
The chief among them is the use of gracenote which is really cool
something in a hurry itunes will do it for me.
If I want to buy something I want and can't find it other places, then
itunes will have it.
Right, so the biggest issue I have with itunes then is that it seems
to add its own markups onto prices of things I know are cheaper in
other digital stores.
That and the fact the icloud app secures part of itself so system
restore just doesn't work with it and no, I can't find any way to make
that go away.
There used to be a way but I can't find now now.

            Do you use a consistent format for your phone numbers?   For example, are all written with the area code in parentheses, (814) 536-2250, or all written as area code hyphen exchange hyphen last 4 digits, 814-536-2250, or some other format that's consistent?

            It is possible to achieve what you're looking for using regular expression matching, but it's helpful to know how you format phone numbers so that the regex can be constructed correctly.

I have a couple synthesizers that do not pronounce phone numbers as individual digits. Are there settings or speech dictionary entries that would correct this problem?

Rumola Bypass Captcha

Hi good people:
Please does anyone in this group use the rumola bypass captcha extension for Chrome?
I found this extension some how, and I subsequently  installed it on my PC, but it appears not to be working.
I tried it  out  on two different websites with captchas, and the extension didn't recognize them.
I learnt that ifthis happens one should go to the context menu, and select insert automatically, or something i can't remember. But  even with hat nothing gets inserted.
Please if anyone uses this extension and it is working, kindlyy give me tips on how I can use it successfully.
The app does not work on firefox.
