I am not familiar with the book you are discussing.

Cathy Anne Murtha is a very well regarded instructor. I did a search of her web site for Internet Explorer and here is a link to the results. https://www.blind.training/?s=internet It appears she only has material for the Internet using JAWS but browsing will be almost identical. Since I don't know what you want to learn, you might wish to contact her and ask if the book deals with the topics you want to learn. Also, since I don't know what you want to learn, I don't know if a book is the best way to proceed. You might be able to learn what you want by asking questions here or on the chat list, whichever is appropriate for what you want to learn. Or one or two hours of personal instruction might be a good approach. If you give us an idea of what you want to learn, you may get better help for your specific needs. Gene

Aside from that, I don't see anything cluttered about the Chrome interface. Browsing is browsing when you are using Browse mode or the Virtual PC Cursor, different names for the same thing. The interface is different but the only place where I find that an annoyance is when working with history. and I still haven't found a way to go back more than about a day in Chrome history. I wonder if there is some sort of inaccessible scroll icon. Gene

Well not sure about pot, but yeah, itunes has some good points.

The chief among them is the use of gracenote which is really cool something in a hurry itunes will do it for me. If I want to buy something I want and can't find it other places, then itunes will have it. Right, so the biggest issue I have with itunes then is that it seems to add its own markups onto prices of things I know are cheaper in other digital stores. That and the fact the icloud app secures part of itself so system restore just doesn't work with it and no, I can't find any way to make that go away. There used to be a way but I can't find now now. Re: Pronunciation of phone numbers
George,
Do you use a consistent format for your phone numbers? For example, are all written with the area code in parentheses, (814) 536-2250, or all written as area code hyphen exchange hyphen last 4 digits, 814-536-2250, or some other format that's consistent? It is possible to achieve what you're looking for using regular expression matching, but it's helpful to know how you format phone numbers so that the regex can be constructed correctly. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 It’s hard waking up and realizing it’s not always black and white. ~ Kelley Boorn

I have a couple synthesizers that do not pronounce phone numbers as individual digits. Are there settings or speech dictionary entries that would correct this problem?

There is an issue on github of both waterfox and nvda about how the brouser is really flakey in the latest version. Aparently firefox has the same issues, at first I thought it was just a couple sites, but now I can be brousing along and it may be blogspot, github, another site, and things will become unresponsive. I thought I'd fixed it this morning but no I hadn't. If you open sites each in a new tab things do not crash but eventually if you open things in the same window things will crash and become unresponsive. This never happened on the previous waterfox version but if its happening in firefox as well as waterfox classic then there is a problem. I like classic waterfox for what it is but if its going to do this sort of thing I may have to use chrome and hope it doesn't do this. I don't like what chrome does to some number conversions in sites like pbtech.co.nz as they don't read decimals right because how the numbers and such on the site are done but well things just seem to be well doing bad things right now. Interested to get to the bottem of this. thanks. Shaun.

When Fast Startup is in use, the state of Windows 10 is written out from RAM to disc for reloading when the system is next powered up. It is an alternative form of hibernation where only the Windows 10 state is saved, but not the user data state, which is also saved in full hibernation. Some of the most bizarre issues I've ever encountered have occurred when the special hibernation file used by Fast Startup develops corruptions over time, and if a system has an SSD as its operating system disc there is virtually zero difference in boot up time when it's off and it's not a huge gain even when HDDs are in use. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 It’s hard waking up and realizing it’s not always black and white. ~ Kelley Boorn

I suggest go through the steps from your computer manufacturer's site to perform a nondestructive reset on your ram. I just updated firmware on windows for all the hp systems I have. The fans raced things didn't work right, etc. I was able to reset the unit. Generally with a system like a desktop with only a power button, pull out the power and remove any disks, and other hardware. Then just hold down power or reset for 5-15 seconds, then plug power and keyboard in, then turn everything on, you may have to hit enter to get it to start. Then everything just works and you plug things in. With laptops, pull out the battery, and hold power for 15 seconds, put battery in, plug things back in and turn on. If sealed, do everything as above and don't remove battery. So far the system has not gone fluffy yet. Just make sure all drivers and firmware are updated to latest and it works.

I have no idea how to get there and this just started recently. However, it is sporadic. I left the computer on and was gone for almost three hours and it worked as soon as I touched it when I came back. It is really strange.

Hi, Go to community add-ons website, select StationPlaylist, and download the development version. Also, subscribe to NvDA-SPL list located at: https://nvda-spl.groups.io/g/nvda-spl Usually I do not announce development build announcements on this list so folks will not be overwhelmed. Note that these development builds are really bleeding-edge builds, sometimes requiring most recent NVDA stable version (or in some cases, beta or even alpha releases). I’ll make an important announcement about development builds as part of an upcoming SPL add-on release announcement. Cheers, Joseph

Hi, To name an encoder, when an encoder is focused, press Alt+NVDA+0 to open encoder settings dialog for the selected encoder. The first option will be “encoder label” and you can use this field to label your encoder whatever you like. To remove an encoder label, go to the encoder with the label you wish to delete, press Alt+NVDA+0, then delete whatever is shown on “encoder label” field. In the past an encoder labeler command was provided (F12) to open a dialog dedicated to labeling encoders. This was removed in a recent add-on release. F12 command is coming back this November to open encoder settings dialog (currently being tested by our testers). Cheers, Joseph
