Depending which version of windows try looking in control panel for programs and features or if older os add/remove programs

That’s the proper way of doing uninstalls

Good luck

Hi, everyone,

Can you recommend a good program for uninstalling the free youtube to

mp3 converter classic? I tried a program called special uninstaller but

that didn't help at all.

Thanks in advance.

I had already installed the .reg file to activate sound in safe mode. I had also went to the boot part of msconfig and checked the two options you indicated and after hitting the OK button restarted windows and got into safe mode. However after getting to the desktop and hitting enter on the NVDA icon and trying to use the NVDA shortcut key I got no speech.
Running latest Windows 10 and latest released version of NVDA.

Re: Golden Cursor: Revisited

Hi,

Layer commands: that is likely what will happen in the future. Three authors (I, Tyler Spivey, and Derek Riemer) wrote add-ons that use layer commands (I borrowed ideas from Tyler). Currently, the way you set up layer command structure requires understanding how gesture assignments work behind the scenes, but in the future, I’m hoping that we can make it way easier for authors to write layer command structures.

Cheers,

Joseph

There needs to be a way to have more commands such as in JAWS.  In JAWS, JAWS key space bar, as I recall, is the first part of layered commands, followed by a second command.  In NVdA, NVdA key space bar is used to toggle browse mode off and on so another first layer command is needed.  But it's clear from the discussion that we have reached the practical end of single commands.

Hi,
Sorry, NVDA+Shift+C is taken, too.
Whenever you define a command for a global plugin, it is applied everywhere. This means it'll override contextual commands such as when using applications, interacting with specific controls across applications, browse mode commands and what not. For this reason, whenever I assign commands to add-ons (or reassign existing commands), I look at all available commands (not just global plugins, but also app-specific and control-specific ones), thus I try my best to avoid commands that are used in specific situations.
Cheers,
Joseph

Re: Windows 10 App Essentials 18.07.1 #addonrelease

Hi,

Right, and my apologies for not making this clear…

ARIA specifications state that, when an alert should be presented to web browsers/screen reader combinations, browsers should present (fire) appropriate alert event. In case of Microsoft Edge, it fires live region changed event, which causes screen readers such as NVDA to announce whatever text is presented to them.

A few days ago, I was chatting with someone on Twitter who pointed out that this does not happen with Edge+NVDA. A debugging session revealed that this was caused by the fact that the actual element that fires this alert event has no text at all, but its child elements do contain fragments of text to be announced. I then wrote a fix for it and presented a try build of my add-on to this person, who came back and said NVDA will now announce ARIA alerts on Edge. However, because I know that Edge elements are used in other apps, I expanded my fix to cover other cases.

I’ll include the above notes in an upcoming revision of Windows 10 App Essentials add-on internals article.

Cheers,

Joseph

Windows 10 App Essentials 18.07.1 is now available, bringing two significant changes:

  • In Edge and other apps powered by EdgeHTML rendering engine, aria-role=alert is properly recognized. This means alert text will be announced as a live region.
  • NVDA will be less verbose when browsing emojis in Insider build 17704, caused by two events being fired by this panel when emoji selection changes.

As always, the new version is just an update check away. More info about this version can be found at:

Note: both changes will be part of pull requests and/or a future NVDA next branch snapshot depending on pull request process milestones (review, approval, incubation).

Re: nvda on a usb drive

John Isige

If I understand what you're talking about:

1. Login to your new profile.

2. Run NVDA from the USB drive.

3. Go to the NVDA menu, tools, and pick install, or whatever it's
called. I can't tell you because I'm running an installed copy. Install,
tell it to copy your addons or whatever you need.

4. You're done, enjoy NVDA.

Hello guys,
About a time ago I related that my computer after some time of inativity was getting out of any command I did.
Well, it's still happening.
Now I can found the NVDA-OLD.log and I'll attach it to the message so you can help me, I hope!

I think Java runtime is only required for the database programme.

Hi, everyone,

I have a friend who just got a refurvished computer from Computers for
the Blind in Texas. She said they installed libre office on it but she
can't make the menus talk. Other than that, she said she can work with
the writer word processer and the spread sheet with no problem. Is there
a way to make the menus talk?

Thanks for your help in advance.
