Re: sudden changes to Hulu's website

Ame, I have some insight to the Hulu access. I use jaws, but with the virtual cursor on, I can confirm that what you’re seeing here is the same thing I am. However, if I turn the virtual cursor off, I am able to press enter on things like my stuff, TV shows, etc., and explore things within those menus. The reason I thought to turn the virtual PC cursor off, is that Jaws is announcing these items as menus. I hope this helps, and if there’s a way to do something similar in NVDA, you’ll get this.

I sure do hope that happens for me Gaylen because this is driving me bonkers. Incidentally, I’m in the US also. Thanks for the heads up. I guess I’ll try some of the stuff the hulu agent suggested in last night’s chat session and if that doesn’t work I’ll just try to hang tough and see what Hulu does. It’s just messed up that this happened so suddenly. Weird! Lol

I do have sighted help but not because I live with someone. I rely pretty heavily on the Microsoft disability answer desk when I face issues like this. Ironically, they didn’t see those things on my screen on the site but the Hulu agent tried to see if it did it on his end and it didn’t. He was able to see all available content. I just don’t get it. I think the first course of action will most likely be reaching out to the disability answer desk to see if my Chrome’s up to date or not and then I’ll go from there. It’ll be a real blessing if that’s what caused it.

Re: sudden changes to Hulu's website

Hi Guy! Yeah, I make sure the window’s maximized and I use Chrome. The puzzling thing is, until Thursday afternoon, I had access to all the content I pay for. All of a sudden, all I see is the global navigation stuff you find on all the pages. Under that, I see an unlabeled button that you click on to either expand or collapse the little area where you can switch profiles, turn night mode on or off, get into your account, etc. Under that little button, I see the global navigation stuff you find at the bottom. About, jobs, about ads, help, all that stuff. I chatted with a Hulu agent who made some suggestion. I’m thinking about uninstalling and reinstalling NVDA. If that doesn’t work, I think I’ll call the Microsoft Disability Answer desk and have them see if my Chrome is updated. I just think this whole thing is very strange. The change was very sudden and I never did a thing to create the problem. Lol I’m gonna do my best to see that this thing doesn’t outdo me.

Hi When I open Skype, I always press F11 for full screen mode, then I can move around it OK. I checked the Help, About menu item and it displayed the following:
Skype version 8.66.0.77 Application version 15.66.77.0 © 2020 Skype & Microsoft You're on the latest version of Skype.
I am using Windows 10 20H2 with latest NVDA and use Skype on a regular basis without too much difficulty.

To copy the table, you need to use a browser plug-in.

There was something like Table2Clipboard for Firefox And for Chrome, for example, Copytables plugin Of course, it will be difficult for us to select selected items, but from the context menu or the edit menu after installing these plugins, you can copy the entire table. Must try. Stefan Banita W dniu 2020-12-08 o 14:00, Supanut Leepaisomboon pisze:

How do I copy tables from a webpage while preserving their formatting
Alexandre Alves Toco
F8 to select tables is a jaws command. It doesn’t work in nvda unfortunatelly! I would vote for this issue if it exists...

With the cursor on the line that says something like "five columns and three rows", press f8. That will select the whole table with formatting. Copy and paste it into the Word document.

NVDA Con Apology to the Community from your List Owner
#adminnotice
Nimer Jaber
Hello NVDA Community: I am forwarding this message that I sent to the NVDA Con email list to the community at large. As a result of what has transpired, if the community wishes me to step down from continuing to administrate this group, I will happily do so. Please send your comments and thoughts to me individually, or the owner address. I will lock this thread from discussion, and wish anyone wishing to comment to do so privately or to the owner email address. First, thank you for all your efforts in putting together NVDA Con. NVDA Con went about as well as it could have. I am thankful to all of your efforts. For my part in the chaos of the opening forum, I would like to apologize. • I attempted to come on opening forum, and explain why I believed that Teamtalk is not an ideal platform. Moderation is not as powerful as it is on other platforms, users find TeamTalk fiddly with audio particularly when or if they unplug and plug in devices, etc, TeamTalk doesn't really have echo cancellation, NVDA Con is an international conference and should not be pleased with 60 participants, particularly when more than half were organizers, moderators, and NVAccess staff, and so on. I feel very strongly that TeamTalk is a very poor choice of platform for an international conference, and I have brought this up repeatedly over the years. • Instead of being given the opportunity to speak, I was interrupted, and organizers defended TeamTalk as being a great platform. • I was unprofessional in my attempts to illustrate, during a small part of the opening forum, why it is a bad idea to use TeamTalk as a platform at this point. I used various nicknames, and adjusted my gain level pretty high, and caused echo while others were attempting to speak, particularly for those individuals who were attempting to interrupt me from speaking. This is not good for an international forum, and I apologize for this. I did not repeat this for the remainder of the conference, and will not do so again. Even in this thread exchange, I am seeing organizers still say that TeamTalk is a good choice for hosting a conference. Even with all that happened during opening forum, even with the keynote running into the issues that it ran into, we still see people defending TeamTalk as a platform. I was unable to enjoy the keynote live as I kept being kicked out and needed to rejoin a number of times. Each time, because of the number of users, there was a noticeable lag, and at one point, NVDA crashed. This is on a quite powerful modern machin with 16 GB of ram and a gigabit Internet connection. If the cost of running a Zoom room for the conference is as stated in this thread, for ten moderators, and if it then allows for streaming things like the keynote to Youtube, and if it allows greater flexibility and ability of users, developers, and interested parties all around the world to join, and if it can better enable NVDA con to reach many more users, thus being more representative of the NVDA community, then that cost is a small one to pay. If NVAccess cannot get a lower rate by working with Zoom, I am happy to donate the cost for this for next year's con. Recording would be simpler, many of the audio issues would be sorted, moderators have substantially more control, and audio quality for certain events can be enhanced with minimal jitter issues, disconnects, drop-outs, and issues with the time it takes to reconnect. Presenters and participants can easily connect by phone call, mobile app, on the web, using desktop apps on Windows, Mac, and Linux, and so on. I don't really frankly understand why there is still a question of whether this is or is not a good idea. Again, I hope the organizers will accept my apologies for contributing to the issues with the opening forum. Thank you all for your hard work into this year's con. Hi there. I have a couple questions. Is your window maximized? Also, what browser are you using? Things do not seem to work as well any more in Internet explorer, since it is deprecated. If you can, try Hulu in Firefox, or Chrome.

Something similar happened with the Netflix site here in the U.S. One day it was working just fine and then, suddenly, the edit field for searching for a movie disappeared. I complained and talked directly to one of the individuals who answers questions about the service. It took more than a week, but eventualy the problem was fixed and the edit field suddenly re-appeared one day. Gaylen Kapperman
