I am in the process of writing up a new tutorial for the new face book look using nvda. I do not use it much only to post and or read messages etc. Just not sure how much info to put in or not but the more used stuff on face book. there is a lot of stuff happening on it but do not have to use it. I mean as in the stuff you would not really use on that platform. so no use putting it into the tutorial. you can email me off list where there might be some problems like the 3 I saw and see what comes together. it will then be posted on the website unless some one wants it in draft form. It is not quite finished yet. Gene nz

I hope the original poster gives more information. What e-mail program is being used and how messages are read may be important, as text or HTML.

Doesn't hyperlinks refer to both? and what is the original questioner referring to? Gene

Hi Brian. Your example links, as well as the links from the post that were originally asked about have appeared correctly. I didn't realize they were called "click through" links. I was confusing them with "click here" links. I don't think I've changed any of my settings that would affect the way links are read.

Unable to share links on FB
David Russell
Hi Group,
Oops, sorry I did not see this before posting my own struggle. I receive the NVDA group digest. Suffice to say, a big heart felt thanks to the one who shared another way to bring up the former version of FB: mbasic.facebook.com I too cannot delete messages, create new messages, and its haphazard to comment on posts via the new crappy interface. I could not even submit a problem report per the new interface. I hasten to add, some of my sighted friends indicate they have not been hit with this new roll-out and - for them is business as usual. Short of the classic version, I am clueless on how to accomplish much with the newer platform. Tutorials seem dated at best even from AFB. Cheers, -- David Russell david.sonofhashem@gmail.com

Re: Possible to purchase Microsoft outlook separately?
Thanks to all involved in this topic as far as their helpfulness and courtesy in response to same.
I did want to add something "as a public service" for the group before I lock the topic. If you are looking for any piece of software "separately" the best thing to do is to web search on that software's name with the addition of the term "standalone," as a single word. Try this yourself for Outlook, in this case, and you'll see what I mean in the first few results. It has been common practice in computing circles to call anything that can run on its own the standalone version of a program. And when you want to know if something you're familiar with in a suite might be available by itself, standalone is the magic search term. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 It’s hard waking up and realizing it’s not always black and white. ~ Kelley Boorn

I used Google to search for discussion of the question I asked and found nothing. You can search Github if you do a properly worded Google search. It may not matter that refresh screen is limited to browse mode but I wonder if there are times when refreshing the screen elsewhere would be beneficial. Gene

Regarding a comparison with Window-eyes and JAWS, my recollection is that redraw screen commands in those screen-readers worked anywhere. In NVDA, the command only works in browse mode. Does it matter? Should this be addressed on Github? Gene

Re: Tutorials On New Facebook Platform?
David,
I am not a Facebook user, at all, but I have noticed a number of recent conversations saying that users of what had been m.facebook.com should use mbasic.facebook.com if they want to use the "old style" mobile interface. These days I think it's going to be critical to identify which URL/page you're actually using until/unless Facebook kills off one of them in order to receive accurate advice. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 It’s hard waking up and realizing it’s not always black and white. ~ Kelley Boorn

Tutorials On New Facebook Platform?
David Russell
Hello NVDA Group,
I am using the mobile version of Facebook, as historically, it has been much easier and convenient with the aid of NVDA. However, as the new interface has replaced the classic version, I cannot find info that is up-to-date on: How to delete messages Generate a new message to any of my friends Determine the type of reaction by individual group members to my posts It now says for example, three liked, one cared. Access World by AFB has some instruction, but not sure that it is as current as needed. Thanks in advance for your potential help. -- David Russell david.sonofhashem@gmail.com
