The first thing I'd suggest is upgrading to the latest NVDA beta that was just released as a diagnostic step. It appears to be working flawlessly for those who have done so and if your issue is the result of one of the installs somehow corrupting your existing NVDA install this should correct it. And if the beta works fine for you it will eventually update itself to the stable version once that is released.

Urgent: NVDA going silent in outlook 2016

Hi all,

I installed visual studio 2019 community addition and upgraded dragon
professional to version 15.6. 

Now, however, whenever I launch outlook, NVDA goes silent when I swap to
outlook. This happens in any dialogue of that program. I have tested with
NVDA running without add-ons. Bo change.

I have tried narrator and it works without a program in outlook 2016. 

I am not sure why installing dragon 15.6 and or visual studio would cause
this problem nor am I certain if these actions are the cause of the program.


How do I troubleshoot this?

Just to let you know the web site has come back on line it
seemed it was a very series crash on there end. it may go up and
down while they repopulate all the web sites on that server.

Hopefully nothing like this happens again for a very long long

    The website has been zipped you will need a program to unzip
    it. You can also do it with windows explorer but may be
    better to make a folder then put the files into it that is
    easy to find. Then it is a matter of just going to the index
    file with in the folder and pressing the enter key on it and
    use it like normal. As long as people have internet access
    they should be able to access audio files  etc.

    There may be another tutorial been added on later this week
    so will update the link to the drop box account then.

            you host with a free provider? with no adds and only
            have to pay for the domain name.

            took a dive?

            If any one wants to access the material on it at
            present I can zip it up and drop box it until it
            comes back on line.

            This will only be the website files not the audio
            files as every one has access to the internet mostly.

            You will then need to unzip it and put it into a
            folder with the files. Then it is a matter of just
            accessing the index file for the website.

            I might again even look at other options for hosting.

Hi

The website has been zipped you will need a program to unzip it. You can also do it with windows explorer but may be better to make a folder then put the files into it that is easy to find. Then it is a matter of just going to the index file with in the folder and pressing the enter key on it and use it like normal. As long as people have internet access they should be able to access audio files etc.

There may be another tutorial been added on later this week so will update the link to the drop box account then.

The people we host with were alerted when i first noticed it and it has to be fixed on there end. I do not know when it will be back up but hopefully it is ASAP.

I guess this is maybe what you get some times when you host with a free provider? with no adds and only have to pay for the domain name.

It sounds pretty serious like the server hard drive took a dive?

If any one wants to access the material on it at present I can zip it up and drop box it until it comes back on line.

This will only be the website files not the audio files as every one has access to the internet mostly.

You will then need to unzip it and put it into a folder with the files. Then it is a matter of just accessing the index file for the website.

I might again even look at other options for hosting.

I recently had to create a new user account on my PC in order to correct a problem which I won't go into in this message as the problem had nothing at all to do with NVDA. Once I did this I noticed snappier responsiveness when moving the cursor around in a Microsoft Word document. With the beta of 2020.3 with UIA support enabled I am noticing that responsiveness in Word 365 is almost as good as it is in Jarte. This has really pleased me and has made me more excited and willing to use NVDA, particularly with Word.

NVDA 2020.3 includes several large improvements to stability and performance, particularly in Microsoft Office applications. There are new settings to toggle touchscreen support and graphics reporting. The existence of marked (highlighted) content can be reported in browsers, and there are new German braille tables.

This beta will prompt to update to future 2020.3 betas, release candidates and the final 2020.3 once it is released.

Hi,
SPL = StationPlaylist, LTS = long-term support.
To explain a bit: every once in a while I release a long-term support version of StationPlaylist add-on, designed to support oldest StationPlaylist version in use. This year, version 20.09.x serves this role and is designed for SPL 5.20 users. In order to provide a smoother channel switching experience, 20.09.1-LTS was released that locks the update channel to long-term support maintenance branch, and I plan to offer the next stable release for stable channel subscribers in a few weeks.

Hi,

I have a question about Thunderbird and how NVDA will read every notification, such as downloading 1 of 1 in Inbox, or Deleted 1 of 3 in Important or what's going on with messages going into folders, right while I'm trying to listen to a message.  How do I control what is said as far as notifications go in Thunderbird, so I'm not interrupted while trying to listen to a message.  I don't want to turn off notifications in the settings preferences, where you go into Object presentation options.  There I see a check box to turn notifications on or off.  I don't want to turn notifications off, just cut down on what in hear in Thunderbird.

Hi,
It was intentional - I did it that way so those using Studio 5.20 can switch to LTS channel. That's why I specifically asked stable version users using Studio 5.30 and later to skip 20.09.1-LTS.
