NVDA Addon PDF2Text and python 3

Hello list,
There was once the NVDA extension PDF2Text. Could someone see if they could be converted to Python 3? To see the extensions you can use the following link: https://jeff.tdrealms.com/Add-Ons/PDF2Text.nvda-addon I would look forward to feedback. Kind regards Felix Keller

Re: Unable to share links on FB
I actually do not find this to be the case. I'm on m.facebook.com every day and can use all of the site with confidence, and ease of use. It works well with nvda, and is actually at times faster than the iOs app. -- Sarah Alawami, owner of TFFP. . For more info go to our website. First, this topic almost certainly belongs on the chat sub-list.
Second, A search on the Microsoft website reveals this link to buy Microsoft Outlook, though it might not be exactly what you're after.

Re: In-Process is out

Hi Mary, Interesting, you are right, there is an "add to cart" button (so you can just add it to your cart now if you know what it is and that you want it) - visually it has "add to cart" but NVDA reads "Read more" - I'll work out how to fix that. In the meantime, here is the direct link to the page with more information: https://www.nvaccess.org/product/nvda-productivity-bundle/ Quentin.

Zoom and Screen Sharing
Jaffar Sidek <jaffar.sidek10@...>
HI. Apologies for asking this particular question but I do need some help and advise if it could be managed.
For the next two months, I'll be conducting, fortnightly, the singing segment for my church's Kids worship service, Sunday School, if you like. The services will be conducted on the Zoom platform. Have any any of you done presentations on Zoom? Have you been successful in screen sharing, presenting your segments with Video or Power Point? If so, I would like some help, advise and hints as to how to manage and handle Screen shares as a blind or visually impaired person, the dos and don'ts and what to avoid. All input would be most valuable and appreciated as I will be embarking on this venture for the first time. Thank you and cheers!

Re: NVDA Settings Documentation
Quentin Christensen
David, Those questions about using shorter lines and justifying them are all visual layout things you might do in the HTML code itself to make text stand out. The line length in NVDA's browse mode settings is purely about the maximum amount of text NVDA will read each time you press the down arrow when reading a web page. If the line is shorter, then it just reads to the end of the line. NVDA doesn't change how anything appears visually. Re Word, no it doesn't use NVDA's maximum line length in Browse mode. Without looking at the code, my off the top of my head guess is because it doesn't need to use a virtual document for Word because the caret can move around the text just fine. In a web browser, NVDA take the information from the browser and presents its own virtual representation of that (again, not changing what is shown on screen, and this is why sometimes users have found that NVDA can be at a point on a web page not visible on screen - although we regularly work to improve that synchronisation, and I'm not sure if it is still an issue actually). Possible to purchase Microsoft outlook separately?
Daniel McGee
Hi all
Was just wondering ,is it at all possible to purchase Microsoft Outlook separately, as a stand-alone app? I already have office 2019 student addition put on my windows 10 system. When I brought it two years ago. So obviously, it would be silly to buy the business version of office 2019. Just to get outlook on the machine. Hence why I am inquiring if outlook can be purchased as a stand-alone app to be used with my microsoft account. Thanks for any input on the matter.

As time has gone by it's become a far less "minimal" core, often via the absorption of what had started out life as an add-on into the core functionality. But when the functionality exists as an add-on, the pressing need for it to "become core" is greatly minimized. So, often, novel core functions will be created rather than integrating add-ons into the core itself. It's really no different than JAWS in that respect. There are lots of things that still are done via scripts in JAWS that are analogous to the things done in add-ons in NVDA. End users, particularly those new to screen readers, need to be made aware of the existence of these scripts/add-ons out there, both official and home grown (but most often shared with whoever needs/wants them). There are all sorts of arcane tricks that are handled via these that will likely never be integrated into core functionality. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 It’s hard waking up and realizing it’s not always black and white. ~ Kelley Boorn

Why not make that suggestion on the github so the developers can track the issue, and or suggestion? I always tell people to do this. You can discuss here but also put the issue or suggestion in the tracker as well, that way people can comment on that easier as well. -- Sarah Alawami, owner of TFFP. . Re: Copy Spoken Text
Luke,
Check on GitHub and see if that's already been proposed in an issue, and if not, create a new feature request issue noting just what you've said here. There have been a number of add-ons that have had their functionality integrated into the NVDA core over time. One I use, Focus Highlight, is one of those, but there have been a number of others. I'm not seeing anything with a very quick and dirty search, but I also may not be using whatever "magic search terms" would pull this up. Someone else may know if such an issue already exists off the top of their heads. If so, please post the link to it in GitHub. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 It’s hard waking up and realizing it’s not always black and white. ~ Kelley Boorn

Re: Unable to share links on FB
Hi Sascha,
I don't have any issues with creating a post but it's the accessibility of the reactions that seem to be reduced. Maybe I can clarify what I was describing a little bit. There are issues with both the "How are you feeling" part of writing a post, and giving a reaction to somebody's comment on one of my posts. They are not the same issue. With the How am I Feeling part when I write a post, it has a list of about 120 predefined options, with the list usually starting with Happy and continuing with feelings like Sad, Angry, Goofy, Cute, Confused, Meh. If I wanted to say I was feeling something not in that list, such as flamingoed, I could type that in the search box, press the search button and it would appear as an option that I could select and my post would say I was feeling flamingoed. Now there is still a search box, but that only seems to filter the list of 120-or-so pre-defined feelings. If I type chill into that search box, all other entries in the list are hidden and I can select chill. If I type flamingoed then nothing at all appears where the list previously was, but there is no way to select flamingoed as my chosen feeling. The other reaction is when people have commented on a post I have written. The only reaction I seem to be abel to give is to Like it. It used to be possible to react with Like, Love, Care, Haha, Sad and angry. When somebody else writes their own post, it is indeed possible to react with those options (though angry seems to be off the menu now). To react to somebody else's post there is a Like button and then a link for Other Reactions, which is that list. when I write a post and somebody comments, I can Like it, but there is no Other Reactions option. Often one of my friends will comment something humourous, and I want to react with a Haha, but have to react with Like and then comment Haha. As with all Facebook changes, usually things that aren't working correctly get ironed out within a week or two. In case it's not something that Facebook has messed-up for screen reader users, I'd love to know if any NVDA users have figured out how to do these two things :) Giles
