OK, Gene, so, I just tested even with NVDA doing as you said, and yeah, that isn't working either. I can't even give you a particular site to test, as it's happening 95% of the time regardless the URL.

I'm not sure and since the thread now includes
NVDA, I answered in another message concerning NVDA as well. If the
suggestions I made don't work, I'm not sure if I have other suggestions but
since the topic has been broadened, my next answer is now on topic.

Re: I've had it with Firefox

If you are seeing this behavior with NVDA and JAWS,
it sounds as though Firefox isn't allowing the buffer to line up properly or to
work properly with the control you are working with in the buffor. Go to
the control you want to work with, turn off the virtual PC cursor or browse
mode, and read the current line to see where you are. If you are in the
right place, work with the control and see what happens. If you want to
move to the control, try doing so and work with it.
There is almost no difference browsing between
Firefox and Chrome. If you explain specifically what you object to or have
problems with, we might be able to help with the Chrome problems.
If it is too cumbersome to work with Firefox until
the problem is corrected, itmight be worth trying to see what you object to in
Chrome and how we might lessen or remove the problems.

With JAWS and not with NVDA? Maybe you should
use NVDA with Firefox for a time and JAWS with it only if necessary for some
reason.
Also, your problem may be that JAWS isn't lining up
what is in the buffer with the actual control you want to work with. Try
the following:
Press the left mouse button instead of enter.
Don't route anything or change to any other cursor than the virtual PC
cursor. Just press the left mouse button instead of enter.
I have one or two other suggestions that might help
but if this one solves the problem, trying the others won't be
necessary.

One thing with JAWS 2018 and the latest build of Firefox 61 that I'm seeing is an issue where you'll be on something which is clickable like a link, or a dropdown, or something of sort. You either hit enter, or space bar, and the stupid dad blamed thing either won't do anything at all, or more 9 times out of 10, it will jump me focused on to my taskbar. In fact, one time, I hit enter on a link, not even a mailto: link, and the stupid thing opened my Windows 10 Mail app. Excuse my language, but, what the hell! Absolutely this didn't used to happen, and honestly, I can't remember when it started. Ever since Firefox decided to go Quantom, things have just totally totally gone down hill with it. I get that VFO is doing their best with what they have to fix things, which I appreciate. In their defense, I get totally that they're trying, but I wonder how much of this is really VFO breaking things, vs. how much is Mozilla breaking things. I'm inclined to think more the ladder. I'm admittedly not the biggest fan of Chrome on the Windows platform, maybe on Android, and on the mac, but not Windows. I'm not totally sure why, but yeah... It's not something I can put my finger on. I just don't care for it. Anyway, I'd be curious if any of you all have seen this behavior as well. I'm told that supposedly, I'm not the only one experiencing this. Chris.

NVDA 18.2.1 and bluetooth audio issue
Chris O'Brien
As of release 18 I have been having issues pushing NVDA output to my Bluetooth headphones on my Windows 10 laptop. All audio output from the laptop is successfully sent to the headset (including JAWS output) except for NVDA which plays from the laptop speakers. Interestingly enough, when I toggle the earphones off the audio stops playing on the desktop. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?

You can cause blank not to be spoken by using the
speech dictionary in NVDA. I don't know how much information you
need. do you know how to use the dictionary? Put the word blank in

But if you do this, the word blank will never be

I believe someone posted this on this list some time back and I saved it. Never tried it, but I'd make sure someone with sight was around the first time I try it.

Hi all, You can reboot in to safe mode by doing the following: press windows plus r and type msconfig and hit inter press ctrl plus tab to get to the "boot tab" tab to "safe boot" and check the check mark tab to "base video" and check it as well. tab to the OK button and press it, you'd get a prompt to restart computer to apply changes, if you select "restart now" your PC should restart into safe mode. after finishing your PC job with safe mode, do the same steps above but this time uncheck the two check marks above for both safeboot, and base video. and press OK and restart, your PC will restart to the normal mode. I hope it helps.

It is indeed a registry hack/edition. I don't know where it is, and at least for me on a win10 home x64 system running 1803 it did not apply cleanly therefor it did not work. Your results may vary. The audio in safe mode is screen reader independent, you can try narrator or NVDA but without working audio, which this fix does, you won't get feedback. Thanks. Dave.
