Hi all, You can reboot in to safe mode by doing the following: press windows plus r and type msconfig and hit inter press ctrl plus tab to get to the "boot tab" tab to "safe boot" and check the check mark tab to "base video" and check it as well. tab to the OK button and press it, you'd get a prompt to restart computer to apply changes, if you select "restart now" your PC should restart into safe mode. after finishing your PC job with safe mode, do the same steps above but this time uncheck the two check marks above for both safeboot, and base video. and press OK and restart, your PC will restart to the normal mode. I hope it helps.

The audio in safe mode is screen reader independent, you can try narrator or NVDA but without working audio, which this fix does, you won't get feedback.

You might try tweaking symbol pronunciation for the symbol "null". That's the only thing I can find where "blank" is what's said. That poses dangers if you actually need to edit a document and care about paragraph breaks.
The main reason for putting a blank line in is for a paragraph break. I know of one regular on one of these groups who has the idiosyncratic formatting habit of making each and individual sentence set apart from the next by a blank line, but it's certainly not standard practice.

provided a new better way to search for a desired message. It has added a
constellation of options to the search field. It is possible to tab through these, but I have not succeeded
in figuring out a keyboard path to the sorted mailbox
list. Using Magnifier, I can click on it, but has anyone figured out
the keyboard
steps to getting there?
I have searched for a way to revert to the earlier and much
simpler search tool, but with no luck.
This is not an NVDA issue, as the problem is true for other screen
readers. Another example of “if it ain’t broke, don’t’ fix it.”

One thing with JAWS 2018 and the latest build of Firefox 61 that I'm
seeing is an issue where you'll be on something which is clickable like
a link, or a dropdown, or something of sort. You either hit enter, or
space bar, and the stupid dad blamed thing either won't do anything at
all, or more 9 times out of 10, it will jump me focused on to my

link, and the stupid thing opened my Windows 10 Mail app.
Excuse my language, but, what the hell!
Absolutely this didn't used to happen, and honestly, I can't remember

just totally totally gone down hill with it. I get that VFO is doing
their best with what they have to fix things, which I appreciate. In
their defense, I get totally that they're trying, but I wonder how much
of this is really VFO breaking things, vs. how much is Mozilla breaking
things. I'm inclined to think more the ladder.
I'm admittedly not the biggest fan of Chrome on the Windows platform,
maybe on Android, and on the mac, but not Windows. I'm not totally sure
why, but yeah... It's not something I can put my finger on. I just don't
care for it.
Anyway, I'd be curious if any of you all have seen this behavior as

Gene, how in Thunderbird would I extract your personal e-mail address from your post to the list?
Seeing I was mainly discussing JAWS, not NVDA, I boobooed. I didn't read the e-mail headers correctly, and thought this was on a totally different list which sometimes discussez JFW. I consider my message further to be off topic for this list.
I'd like however to try your suggestion, and if it doesn't work, e-mail you privately so we can keep trouble shooting... that is... of course, if you're OK with that.
Alas, thank you for your help.

Also, your problem may be that JAWS isn't lining up what is in the buffer with the actual control you want to work with. Try the following:
Press the left mouse button instead of enter. Don't route anything or change to any other cursor than the virtual PC cursor. Just press the left mouse button instead of enter.
I have one or two other suggestions that might help but if this one solves the problem, trying the others won't be necessary.

I'm coming in on this thread extremely extremely late, so forgive me if
this's been already mentioned. I have managed to get so much mail in my
inbox these last few days of abscence, that I can't possibly go through
everything quickly.
One thing with JAWS 2018 and the latest build of Firefox 61 that I'm
seeing is an issue where you'll be on something which is clickable like
a link, or a dropdown, or something of sort. You either hit enter, or
space bar, and the stupid dad blamed thing either won't do anything at
all, or more 9 times out of 10, it will jump me focused on to my
taskbar. In fact, one time, I hit enter on a link, not even a mailto:
link, and the stupid thing opened my Windows 10 Mail app.
Excuse my language, but, what the hell!
Absolutely this didn't used to happen, and honestly, I can't remember
when it started. Ever since Firefox decided to go Quantom, things have
just totally totally gone down hill with it.
Anyway, I'd be curious if any of you all have seen this behavior as
well. I'm told that supposedly, I'm not the only one experiencing this.

Gene,
That's kind of what I suspected.
Thanks for the verification.

OK, Gene, so, I just tested even with NVDA doing as you said,
and yeah, that isn't working either. I can't even give you a
particular site to test, as it's happening 95% of the time

Re: I've had it with Firefox
Christopher-Mark Gilland <clgilland07@...>
Gene,
Again, thank you for your help.
That's just it. I dont' really know exactly what my beaf is about
Chrome. I agree. Browsing is almost exactly the same. Usability
wise, I don't really have much trouble with it. For some reason
though, maybe it's just a psychological thing, being I've been now
such a long time die hard Firefox guy, that maybe subconciously,
it just feels really weird using another browser. I don't honestly
know. It's admittedly the strangest thing. I wish I could put my
finger on it, but I can't. It just feels a little bit wonky to me
using chrome for some bizarre reason.

If you are seeing this behavior

the buffer to line up properly or to work properly with the
control you are working with in the buffor. Go to the control
you want to work with, turn off the virtual PC cursor or
browse mode, and read the current line to see where you are.
If you are in the right place, work with the control and see
what happens. If you want to move to the control, try doing
so and work with it.
There is almost no difference
browsing between Firefox and Chrome. If you explain
specifically what you object to or have problems with, we
might be able to help with the Chrome problems.
If it is too cumbersome to work
with Firefox until the problem is corrected, itmight be worth
trying to see what you object to in Chrome and how we might
lessen or remove the problems.

Crap!
Forgive me.
I thought this was on the Win10 list, not NVDA.
This being said, I'm still seeing this as well with NVDA.
Pardon my carelessness.
